Filmation had originally planned to show Battle Cat's face.

In the layout drawings for the Cringer to Battle Cat transformation sequence we see that Filmation had originally planned to show Battle Cat's face. After Cringer is struck with the bolt of power from He-Man's sword he stands on all fours and grows in size. In the original layout for this sequence he looks up with Battle Cat's face, minus the mask. Here we present the unseen face behind the mask.

Notice that in these original drawings Battle Cat does not appear to have a beard, and his whiskers are missing. Also the mask is angled differently, and far closer to the toy than the final animated version was. It is clever to see how they made Cringer's face look more heroic and muscular as Battle Cat, and even change a few of the stripes on his face. The boldness of the eye and the dark edging around it is one of the most visually striking parts of this image. We can only wonder if this would have translated well into the animated series.
