During her transition from toy to her animated form Evil-Lyn
lost something.
When
comparing Evil-Lyn to her toy counterpart, there are many
obvious differences; such as her much lighter skin complexion,
and the addition of a cape. But one difference that can
easily slip by is the lack of the skull atop her headpiece.
Interestingly enough, Filmation originally designed her
to sport the skull. Layout artwork, and originally model
designs show drawn with the skull. It is presumed that Filmation
scrapped the skull motif due to the additional (unnecessary)
time it would place on the artists involved.
In
this layout drawing from "Colossor Awakes" we
can see where the artist has been notified that the skull
motif is to be dropped, as the red pencil appears to have
been erased to an extent.
When
referring to specific stock animation sequences the layout
artists would sometimes copy stock pencil artwork. Here
(on the left) we can see a familiar shot of Evil-Lyn in
pencil, the skull being removed at a later point. And finally
(on the right) going by the color scheme of the toy here
is what Evil-Lyn probably would have looked like with the
skull atop her headpiece in final animated form.
