A
very funny scene from the original draft of "Into the
Abyss."
Driven
by pure character-development "Into the Abyss"
turned out to be one of He-Man's greatest episodes.
As with all scripts it went through many stages of development.
One of the original scenes would have included Man-E-Faces'
third appearance in the series. Alas it was cut. Robert
Lamb explains why. "In the first draft of "Into
The Abyss" I had Teela searching all though the palace
for Adam. There were short scenes with the King and Queen;
Man-E-Faces and Ram Man; and Orko. They were nice but slowed
the story down and had to go. My purpose was to revisit
some places and people that started the series that were
falling through the cracks. The scene with Man-E-Faces and
Ram Man is funny. Ram Man is helping Man-E-Faces rehearse
his lines for a play and objects to reading the girl's part.
Man-E-Faces makes a reference to his leather strip skirt
as the punch line to the scene."
Man-E-Faces
is rehearsing a love scene.
Ram
Man is informed that he is dressed for the part.
