The complete 68 pages of storyboard artwork from this He-Man episode.

"Reign of the Monster" is most-famously known as one of the "dark" episodes, and the only He-Man episode not to feature Prince Adam. From start to finish this episode tries to convince the audience that it is very dark and scary. Unfortunately the final animated version was nowhere near as dark or foreboding as the storyboards by Don Manuel. Robert Lamb once stated that Don Manuel was one of the best storyboard artists around the time of He-Man and She-Ra. Looking at these beautifully detailed boards it is not hard to see why Robert came to that conclusion. Thanks to Lee Clevenger's generosity, we now have scans of the entire storyboard for this episode. This is the step-by-step visual breakdown of the episode. It shows how the animator originally envisioned the episode, and it also allows us to see things that changed in the development between storyboard and the final cut. Here, for the first time ever, we proudly present Don Manuel's full-length storyboard for "Reign of the Monster."
