At Snake Mountain Skeletor introduces Beast Man to his latest acquisition, the Diamond Ray of Disappearance. Skeletor commands Beast Man to activate the Transport Beam, a ray that teleports Skeletor's warriors to Snake Mountain. When Mer-Man, Evil-Lyn, Tri-Klops and Trap jaw arrive, Skeletor demonstrates the specific powers of the Diamond Ray of Disappearance by making a nearby creature vanish. Skeletor informs the Evil Warriors that he will use the Diamond Ray of Disappearance to take over Eternia.

Meanwhile, at the Royal Palace, Orko is entertaining King Randor, Queen Marlena, Prince Adam, Man-At-Arms and Teela with his egg trick. Teela hears laser fire and rushes to the window where she discovers Trap Jaw on his War Sled attacking the palace. While Teela and the Royal Guard pursue Trap Jaw, Prince Adam and Cringer leave the Royal Palace to transform into He-Man and Battle Cat. Teela confronts Trap Jaw who soon gets the upper hand until He-Man arrives and defeats the villain by disabling his arm attachment.

Meanwhile, Skeletor and his lackeys launch an assault on the now-defenseless Royal Palace. Skeletor demonstrates the Diamond Ray of Disappearance on a nearby falcon, not knowing that it is Zoar the falcon. The Diamond Ray of Disappearance sends Man-At-Arms, King Randor and Queen Marlena to another dimension, while Orko manages to escape and warn He-Man.

He-Man journeys to Castle Grayskull and contacts the Sorceress through the magic window. She reveals that the Diamond Ray of Disappearance must be crushed. After their march to Castle Grayskull, the Evil Warriors pull down the jaw-bridge with a grappling hook, aided by Skeletor's magic. Much to their dismay, they find He-Man and Battle Cat waiting inside. He-Man begins to fight the Evil Warriors alongside Battle Cat, when Teela, Ram Man, and Stratos join him.

The Evil Warriors fall one by one at the hands of the Heroic Warriors, but Skeletor watches the battle from a distance. After destroying a horde of Hover Robots He-Man confronts Skeletor. When Skeletor attempts to use the Diamond Ray of Disappearance on He-Man, He-Man deflects the blast with the Sword of Power, causing Skeletor to drop the diamond into a crevice in the ground. He-Man widens the crack and pulls out the magical stone. He begins to squeeze it, but starts to fade into the other dimension. Upon breaking it, He-Man returns to normal and his friends are safely transported back to Eternia. Skeletor leaves, vowing revenge.

Much later at the Royal Palace, everyone is waiting for Prince Adam to come to the throne room on time. Unfortunately, he rides in on a broken Zoom Chariot.

Actually the first HE-MAN episode filmed, THE DIAMOND RAY OF DISAPPEARANCE was aired fourth.

I wish that the ENTIRE episode had survived before being distributed to the DVD market (If you watch very closely, it is painfully obvious that the scene suddenly jumps with no explanation as to how Orko had escaped the Diamond Ray). The full episode (save the moral segment) IS on the VHS copy of "The Greatest Adventures of All" (Alongside Teela's Quest and Colossor Awakens). All in all, a GREAT introductory episode to the series in that Skeletor actually introduces his major Season 1 henchmen one by one (first episode made, fourth aired).
