After a visit to Eternia's foremost farmer Agar and his son Garta, Teela walks away and is suddenly swallowed up by a hole in the ground. The sporadic holes devour great amounts of Eternia's crops. Underground, Teela discovers the Belats have been hoarding the food in their tanks. Orko tells Adam, Cringer, and Man-At-Arms about Teela's disappearance, and they investigate. He-Man digs underground and finds Teela being held captive at the throne of Subternias, leader of the Belats.

Teela believes Subternias can be swayed by reason and chooses to stay in his throne. Subternias chooses not to believe Teela and orders Belat tanks and combine harvesters to raid the Eternian crops. He-Man discovers that the only way to stop the army of machines is to terminate their power source, an underground generator. An anxious Garta follows him to the underground tunnels, but Subternias takes Garta capture and orders a flooding of Eternia's crops. Unable to reverse his actions, Subternias urges He-Man to stop the flooding. He-Man creates a huge rockfall that deflects the water into the sea, saving Eternia's crops.
