She-Ra and Swift Wind are flying high above the planet, when they see Hordak's fighters in pursuit of an alien spacecraft. She-Ra intervenes and destroys the robot ships, but the alien craft has been badly damaged. She-Ra witnesses an escape pod falling back to Etheria. She-Ra lands in the Whispering Woods just in time to catch the plummeting escape pod. A young boy emerges from the escape pod and introduces himself as Prince Joel of Antares. Prince Joel is well, but disappointed that his Robofriend has been damaged. She-Ra takes him to Castle Bright Moon, where Queen Angella plans to contact his parents.
In the meantime, Joel begins to explore Etheria, meeting a group of children about his age. He brags about the wonders that his Robofriend can work, and refuses to let the other children share in its wonders, even if it were not broken. At the Fright Zone, Hordak wants the Robofriend. Such a powerful weapon in the hands of the rebellion endangers his rule, so Imp volunteers to go to Bright Moon and steal it. The next morning, Adora and Bow surprise Joel by presenting him with his repaired Robofriend. Joel scurries away to find a place where he might check its power and activate it. He shows off his Robofriend to the other children, including its transformation abilities, but again he refuses to let them play with it. It turns into a catapult that Joel uses to impress the children, but in using it, a tower is damaged and begins to collapse. Adora transforms into She-Ra and catches the rubble. As the other children abandon Joel because of his selfishness, Imp sets his plan into motion. As reinforcements in the form of Catra, Leech, and Grizzlor arrive to menace Adora, Bow and the children while they camp, Imp uses the opportunity to place a tiny controller given to him by Hordak onto the Robofriend. The controller allows Hordak complete control over the Robofriend.
While everyone is distracted, Imp places the controller on the Robofriend, allowing Hordak to take control. The Robofriend captures Bow and throws him at She-Ra, but she catches him and causes the Horde ships to collide. The Robofriend abducts Joel and begins to fly him away to the Fright Zone. She-Ra and Swift Wind follow, She-Ra using her sword to create a smokescreen that causes the robot to lose navigational control. She catches Joel as the Robofriend crashes, wrecking Hordak's scheme. Bow again repairs the Robofriend, but this time Joel realizes that people are more important than robots. He earns the friendship of the other children, just as Joel's parents arrive to take him home to Antares.
