At the farm of Mali and her family, a crowd of Horde Troopers arrive to collect the Horde taxes, which have doubled. When the Troopers threaten to take possession of the family farm if payment cannot be made Mali's father destroys one of the Troopers in outrage. General Sunder arrives to arrest the family. When Mali is imprisoned she discovers that General Sunder forgot to lock the wagon.
She escapes and contacts the rebels, telling them of the capture of her family by Sunder. Adora remembers Sunder from her days as Horde Force Captain, and reveals that he is a strong, honorable man who once stood up to Hordak on her behalf. She reiterates that General Sunder would not neglect to lock the door to Mali's wagon, because he is a very good soldier, making Adora suspect that Sunder's act was not unintentional.
As Adora heads off to transform into She-Ra, the rebels plan to infiltrate Sunder's camp and free Mali's family. When the rebels arrive, Bow is captured while Mali is able to free the prisoners. Sunder demands She-Ra's surrender, using Bow as hostage. She-Ra agrees to surrender, and Sunder keeps his promise to release Bow. Hordak is pleased that She-Ra has been captured, but bewildered to learn that Sunder kept his word to a rebel by releasing Bow.
General Sunder states that the taxes are unreasonable and does not back down from Hordak's threats. This leads Hordak to believe that Sunder is becoming too honest. Bow, Glimmer, and Mali plan to free She-Ra, but they are discovered in the Fright Zone by General Sunder, who admires their courage and selflessness and permits them to continue in their task. The rebels face another challenge, however, as She-Ra's power-chains can only be unlocked by General Sunder. When he asks She-Ra why the rebels fight, She-Ra tells him of their quest for freedom.
He is displeased by the answer he gets from the unfeeling Horde Trooper, and agrees to help the rebels escape. She-Ra asks him to join the rebellion, and while he resists at first, he chooses to do just that, and they begin their escape. When Sunder is injured by a stray blast, he urges She-Ra to move ahead, but she won't leave him behind as the rebels do not leave anyone behind. The rebels escape, and Mali affectionately tends to Sunder's wounds. General Sunder begins to appreciate freedom.
