He-Man, She-Ra, and the rebels are at the Fright Zone, freeing rebel prisoners. A short time later Hordak is demanding to know why Horde Captain Sludge Man is not producing a larger amount of Nucleon from the mines he oversees. He explains that because the rebels keep freeing prisoners there is a worker shortage. The Nucleon is a source of power for the Horde machines, thus Hordak makes an arrangement with the Monstroids to capture more workers.

Back in the Whispering Woods, Adam and Snout Spout have journeyed from Eternia to help Etheria celebrate the Day of the Flowers. The Day of the Flowers is a day of recognition of the beauty of Flower Mountain, and the freedom that the flowers symbolize. Meanwhile, Orko is practicing his magic when he accidentally causes the twins' swords to disappear from the table on which they were placed. At that moment, a villager arrives to tell Adam and Adora of the labor mines, and warns them of the approaching Monstroids. If Flower Mountain is destroyed, the objectives of the Rebellion will be undermined, and the spirit of the Great Rebellion, which races across Etheria, will be crushed. This price is too heavy for Adora and Adam to bear, and they resolve to help fend off the Monstroids. As they go to retrieve their swords, they learn that Orko has caused them to vanish, and ask Orko to keep trying to recover them.

They hatch a plan to slow the Monstroids approach by cooling their engines and causing them to fail. Snout Spout creates rings of water in the air, and Frosta freezes them with her powers, making ice donuts, which the rebels hope to use to achieve their goals. While Orko continues his efforts, Madame Razz, Broom, and Adora toss the ice donuts into the Monstroid's weakest points, causing three of the six Monstroids to fail. They are able to disable a fourth as well, but the giant robots' engines recover within ten minutes. Adam and Adora determine that they need to disable them permanently.

They decide to roll ice donuts down the mountain and cause them to crash into the Monstroids, but the donuts would need to be bigger. Thankfully, that's one task that Orko can help with, and he uses his magic to make the donuts very large. The rebels work together to send these larger donuts rocketing down the mountain, and they collide and destroy four of the Monstroids. There are still two Monstroids remaining and they are getting closer to Flower Mountain. Just then, Orko remembers the spell he was practicing when the swords vanished, and used his magic to bring them back.

Adam and Adora become He-Man and She-Ra, and together they lift the lake, which Frosta has frozen solid and toss it at the Monstroids, destroying them and ending their threat. After things calm down, Adora shows the gathered rebels a flower that grows amidst a rock. The flower represents the rebels, while the rock represents Horde. While the Horde attempts to crush the rebels, they survive and grow, just as the flower grows amidst the rock. This is the symbol of the Etherian struggle, and like Adora it promises that Etheria will one day be free.
