Zodak has a nightmare recalling his brother Zeelahr being eaten alive by King Hiss in the time of the Snake Men, and not being able to do anything to stop it. He calls for a vision of the future, which shows Snake Mountain spurting two more heads as well as the Royal Palace of Eternia being devoured by a giant snake and Castle Grayskull crumbling into the Abyss. The Sorceress warns Prince Adam of the impending threat of King Hiss, so he gathers the Masters together to go to Snake Mountain. When he transforms into He-Man, he has new Snake Armor clothing that will help him against the Snake Men.

They head towards Snake Mountain, but Skeletor gets an early tip-off that they are coming and gathers his warriors to defend the base, without the conspicuously absent Evil-Lyn. Evil-Lyn heads to Zodak's retreat with General Rattlor and Kobra Khan. They attack the Cosmic Enforcer and steal his staff, which is the key to opening the Void, the prison in which King Hiss and his followers are trapped. They manage to defeat Zodak easily, almost too easily, as he regains consciousness immediately after they depart for Snake Mountain and follows right after them.

The Masters and the Evil Warriors fight outside Snake Mountain, and the Evil Warriors win the fight. Man-At-Arms appeals to Skeletor about the possible imminent return of the Snake Men and potential treachery from within his ranks. Evil-Lyn returns to silence his claims. While this duel is taking place, Kobra Khan and General Rattlor make their way to the altar and free Tung Lashor, Sssqueeze, and Snake Face, with King Hiss following quickly behind. He declares that it is time to reclaim what is rightfully his. The Masters are forced to retreat and regroup. Skeletor regroups his forces at Snake Mountain and prepares to press on with a full-scale assault, but they are stopped by King Hiss and his enormous army of Snake Men.

King Hiss sits upon Skeletor's throne and has Snake Face turn the Evil Warriors to stone. Evil-Lyn reveals her allegiance to King Hiss and takes her place at his side. King Hiss demands that Skeletor bow in front of him. Skeletor refuses, and pays for his impudence by being swallowed up by the ground beneath King Hiss's throne. With the Snake Men now in power, Snake Mountain grows two more heads, as in Zodak's vision. The Cosmic Enforcer himself watches on from a distance and prepares for battle.
