Here
we list the various introductions that enlightened the audience
on the show that they were about to watch.
Every
cartoon should have one. Introductions are supposed to attract
the viewer's attention to the screen and keep them there
until the end credits begin to roll. She-Ra's first
introduction established the world of Etheria, before really
letting the audience know the names of all the cast. When
the episode "Reunions" aired, this was the first
time the regular She-Ra introduction was used,
which was almost identical to He-Man's in structure.
This
is the introduction that was used for the first three episodes
of She-Ra. Because She-Ra did not appear until
episode three of the series, and Adora did not become She-Ra
until that episode, none of the connection is mentioned
within its structure. It's an interesting and well-directed
rarity. This introduction contains excerpts from the regular
series version mixed with some wonderful alternative scenes.
This
is the standard regular introduction that was used for the
first and second season of She-Ra.
"A
Christmas Special" surprised all of us when it came
out. With all the cartoons in the mid-eighties, it was strange
that Filmation should decide to make a special dedicated
to Christmas, after completing season one of She-Ra.
Still, the introduction was nice, and was based on the style
of "The Secret of The Sword." However, the music
changed to a mix of the He-Man theme, the She-Ra
theme and believe it or not "Jingle Bells."
This
is as everyone knows the very memorable introduction to
"The Secret of The Sword." This was Filmation's
biggest cinematic hit. Although the introduction doesn't
contain a huge amount of animation, it has some very nice
Filmation effects and a very appropriate and wonderful theme
song. Watch for transformation sequence variants. He-Man's:
with the red glowing Grayskull eyes and a slower lightning
speed, and She-Ra's: with the rainbow transformation
and powerful explosions from the sword. Plus for many youngsters
at the time, this introduction actually matched up the voice
actors to their characters!
