NOTE: The 2008 Spirit of King Grayskull figure is not considered an official part of the Masters of the Universe Classics line. According to the Matty Collector website: "To help celebrate the return of Masters of the Universe® toys to collector's shelves, Mattel created a special variant of their San Diego Comic Con exclusive King Grayskull™ action figure as a "Spirit" that will forever live in the walls of his castle. Only two editions of this all-clear version of King Grayskull™ were made for the public. One was raffled off at 2008 San Deigo Comic Con, the second was auctioned for charity at the 2008 Dream Halloween event."Former Matty Collector Brand Manager Scott Neitlich subsequently stated: "The 2008 employee fig is not part of the official line. Hence left off the poster too. The 2015 release was meant to be a way to deliver this figure officially in the line."
In addition to the two charity figures, a small handful of these were given to Mattel employees.
Real Name: D’vann Grayskull
Growing up under the oppressive rule of the Snake Men™, D’vann was driven to rebel against injustice when his brother was captured and eaten. Others flocked to Grayskull’s banner and his legend began to grow. Declared King for his courage, compassion, wisdom and strength, Grayskull™ became a great leader, ruling along with his council of wise Elders. A destined guardian of the Sword of He, Grayskull™ magically passed his essence into the blade with his last breath — ensuring that only his heirs would now wield it and tap into the great power it harmonized with. After his death, the sword was split in two and its power transmuted into a great orb inside his castle, protected by Grayskull’s devoted and loving widow.
King Grayskull Bio (Original Release)
Long before Prince Adam held the Sword of Power to become He-Man, his ancestor, King Grayskull defended Eternia from evil. Heroically mastering the secret power of his sword, Grayskull fought side-by-side with the cosmic warrior He-Ro against both the evil Hordak and King Hssss. Although Grayskull eventually fell before Hordak’s magic, he was able to preserve his powers inside the sword, so that one day his descendants could reclaim the power and call upon Grayskull's name whenever evil threatens the peace of Eternia. To this day, Grayskull’s spirit remains hidden away deep inside the castle which will forever bear his name.
