Adora (Princess Adora)

Heroic Leader Of The Great Rebellion

Real Name: Adora, Of the House Of Randor

Other Name(s): Princess Adora, Captain Adora

Adora is a female Humanoid, also known as Princess Adora, is the
alter ego of She-Ra, Princess of Power (and Despara in the DC 52 Comics). She is twin sister of Prince Adam/He-Man and a member of the Royal Family of Eternia

Depending on which continuity, Adora is leader of the Great Rebellion, who  guides her fellow rebels with a kind, understanding, but firm leadership, Adora has continually proven herself to be an effective leader. She lives by the rules of common sense, and she will never put lives in danger if she can avoid it. Unlike her brother Adam, Adora operates with a take-charge personality.

Adora's level-headedness can usually get her out of any bad situation. She is a strong-willed, determined woman with a passion for freedom. She is certainly the strength of the Great Rebellion, and she proves to be as competent as She-Ra. Due to her infamous defection from the Horde, Hordak is often obsessed with capturing Adora.

Of her rebel friends, Adora is closest to Madame Razz, who serves as a close confidant. Bow obviously wants a romantic relationship with Adora, but she seems resistant.

Filmation Cartoon Continuity:

Princess Adora and her twin brother, Prince Adam were born on the planet of Eternia to King Randor and Queen Marlena.
As a baby, she was kidnapped by the ruthless Hordak, who took through a portal to Etheria.

Adora was raised not knowing of her past and her destiny. Adora was raised within the Fright Zone under the watchful eye of Shakra, who taught her values and principles that would be the foundation of her career as a rebel leader. Hordak on the other hand served as a father figure who trained Adora to be the Force Captain of the Evil Horde. Any doubts Adora might have about her surroundings, were constantly removed by the magic spells of Shadow Weaver, who assumed a motherly role to Adora.

However, things changed when the mysterious He-Man came to Etheria, under the instructions of the Sorceress, to find the wielder of the Sword of Protection.
It was then revealed to He-Man that Adora was the true wielder of the Sword of Protection and also learned of her real past.

Adora now fights as the leader of the Great Rebellion. Also, she now has the Sword of Protection to become She-Ra, Princess of Power.

POP Golden Books Continuity:

Many years ago, Hordak kidnapped the infant, Princess Adora, from the Royal Palace of Eternia. Princess Adora was the twin sister of Prince Adam. Hordak took the infant to the planet of Etheria, where he raised her as his own. Under Hordak's wing, Adora became a member of the Evil Horde.

When Prince Adam/He-Man came to Etheria, Adora discovered that she had been living in a lie. She learned that she was the Princess of Eternia, twin sister of Prince Adam/He-Man and the one destined to harness the power of the Sword of Protection, to become She-Ra, "Princess of Power"! Adora was no longer Hordak's ally, instead she was now his enemy. Adora/She-Ra would join the Great Rebellion, helping them to rid Etheria from the grip of Hordak and his Evil Horde. She is also the arch-enemy of the feline-like, Catra.

POP Ladybird Books Continuity:

- In this Continuity, Adora's role is very similar to the Filmation continuity. One of the big differences, is that Catra is mostly the primary intagonist throughout most of the books. When Filmation debuts as the primary villian, he and Catra reverse roles.

POP World I.P. Annuals Continuity:

Adora is the twin sister of Prince Adam. Many years prior, the twins were born on Eternia, to King Randor and Queen Marlena. Not long after their birth, Hordak had kidnapped Princess Adora and taken her to the planet of Etheria. King Randor and Queen Marlena searched the length and breadth of the Kingdom Of Eternia, finding no trace of their daughter.

On Etheria, Hordak conquered the planet and ruled it by means of tyranny and fear. It was there that he raised Adora from childhood. When she grew old enough, Hordak appointed Adora as the new Force Captain, for the Evil Horde, and for a while helped the evil ruler in his efforts to crush the Great Rebellion, a small but dedicated band led by Queen Angella, ruler of the kingdom of Bright Moon.

When the Sorceress located Adora, she sent He-Man through Castle Grayskull's Doors Of Mystery, which would lead him to the planet of Etheria, where he would learn of his twin sister, Adora. When He-Man found Adora, he was able to persuade her to leave the Evil Horde. After she severed ties with Hordak, He-Man would present her with the "Sword Of Protection" and she would discover her destiny as She-Ra, "Princess Of Power". With that discovery, she would also learn that her noble steed, Spirit, would become the flying Unicorn, known as "Swift Wind", who would also be given the ability of speech.

With her new powers, she and He-Man would travel upon Swift Wind, up into the clouds to the mountains of Etheria. There, on a mountain top, they would discover a beautiful, shining castle, that is invisible to all on Etheria, except for She-Ra and He-Man. With the Sword Of Protection, She-Ra was able to unlock the doors of the mysterious castle. Inside the castle, they would meet a curtain of living light, that called himself, Light Hope.

Now, Princess Adora fights alongside the Great Rebellion and calls upon her alter-ego, She-Ra, whenever she is needed. Only Kowl, Madame Razz, Broom and Light Hope share her secret. Together with the Great Rebellion, they fight to free Etheria from the oppressive rule of the Evil Horde.

Masters Of The Universe Classics:

When Adora and her twin brother Adam were born, the Sorceress recognized they were the twins prophesied to wield the Power of Grayskull. She therefore magically cloned the Sword of He, enhancing it with the Stone of Protection so that each twin could have a key to unlock the Power. But Hordak also learned of the twins and arranged for for his Eternian pupil Skeletor to abduct the infants. Man-At-Arms prevented Adam from being taken but Adora was stolen away to the planet of Etheria deep in the Dimension of Despondos. There she was raised by Hordak until the day her brother returned, handing her her sword which she held aloft to become She-Ra the most powerful woman in the universe.

- Adora was voiced by Melendy Britt in the Princess of Power Filmation Cartoons.
