Special Note: Roboto is an instance of the inaccuracy of childhood memories. A fan claimed that Roboto was a creation of theirs, that they had submitted to the original Mattel MOTU Create-A-Character contest of the 80s. The reality is that the contest ran in 1985 for a few months, ending on October 10, 1985 followed by call-in voting ending on December 13, 1985. The actual winner of the contest was Nathan Bitner who designed a character named Fearless Photog. Meanwhile, Roboto was released in 1985, a toy based on design development that took place at Mattel for almost two years prior to its release.
