Mantenna Discussion Thread

I know this is waaay ahead of the game here, but I just got the vintage Mantenna figure (finally starting a loose vintage collection!) and this idea came to mind.

Since the vintage Mantenna came with a gray crossbow and the vintage Hordak came with a white crossbow, but MOTUC Hordak came with a gray crossbow, do you guys think if they do a MOTUC Mantenna, he should come with the white crossbow? That way if anyone wants to display them with their crossbows swapped to look like the vintages, this would be a halfway decent way of including the white one.

Ok. I never said it was the vintage line. Nor do I expect or want it to be.

I also trust Mattel and the 4H to keep on giving us pure awesome. It was just an idea for discussion. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Well, I think that that is an AWESOME idea. I have been thinking of painting Hordak's crossbow bone white when I open him, but if Mantenna came with a white crossbow it will save me the trouble.

I think that would be pretty cool.
If I remember correctly, ToyGuru stated that MOTUC Hordak was originally going to have the white crossbow like the vintage figure, but the white prototype didn't look as good on Hordak since he has a lot of white color to begin with. Mantenna is pretty colorful and has just about no white on him, so the white crossbow may look quite awesome with him.

A plain white crossbow would not suit these highly detailed figures IMO....:hmshift:

That's the only thing that bothers me with the MOTUC Hordak figure. He should have come with his white crossbow as he did originally. :hogrin:

Even though the black one is growing on me now! But still.... :hoshift:

And as for the other Horde members, they should have thier respected crossbow colors! :cawink:

If they make a white crossbow, I doubt it will be plain. It will most likely have some other subtle colors throughout it like MOTUC Hordak's black crossbow. It definitely has hints of silver throughout it. I think that will make the white crossbow much cooler than being a "flat" white color.

Correct. I wouldn't prefer if it were plain gleaming white, but instead be detailed, or weathered with an off white or gray wash. Or maybe bone textured, similar, but a shade or two lighter than Hordak's head.

It's a great idea, but maybe he will be yellow/silver like the 200X Staction of Mantenna.
I believe Hordak had a grey/silver crossbow there too right?
Maybe they will use the 200X colors of those accessories as a guide for the MOTUC Evil Horde.

Hordak came with the proper crossbow color. This time it just happened to be black.

I guess you could also say that king grayskull came with the proper Power Sword too then? But now it just happened to look like the one that came with He-Man because this is not the 2002 line either.

Man, I don't like that yellow crossbow. It looks more like a space ship he would fly in than a weapon he would use. I hope they go with a more classic design for his crossbow.

Always defending your territory... we all know that MOTUC is not truly classic (vintage). Is just really well vintage inspired adult collector toys. With a sparkle (little) of 200X.

I would like to see Hordak with his real weapon color schema.

But someone, that is regarding for Mattel best interests, just chose other color.

I can paint that, and I will buy two Teelas, if they don´t make Green Goddess I will make my own...

he came with the proper sword as it applies to Classics, yes.

does it disappoint me?, yes. But I'm an adult, learning to deal with disappointment is part of the game.

as for his 'real' weapon color scheme, I'm just not following. The crossbow that came with him is his weapon. it's black this time.

'real' weapon color would imply that there's one true color for his weapon. And if that's the case, then it's anybody's guess, because in three releases he hasn't had a consistent colorscheme for that particular weapon.

You can be right in this, I only wanted to mess with your promptitude to explain that MOTUC is not vintage line.

Everyone knows that if it is new and has the 2009 label date it is not vintage, all the vintage are from the 80´s ...:sklol::sklol::sklol:

Then why must Hordak have a white crossbow?

and if he must, why can't you paint it yourself?

it seems to me that Matty wants to make each character's weaponry unique to them, in that regard, giving Mantenna a generic crossbow to appease a small demographic of people who demand Hordak's crossbow be white makes little sense.

Couldn't it better be served by just repainting your own, so that Mantenna's accessory doesn't need to suffer as a result? Or better yet, just asking for a white one in an accessory pack? or bonus accessory?

Lovin' that idea. Man the accessory would solve so much!

Not that the Hordak bow is a problem for me, as I like the staff better and only use it, but I would have liked him more packed with a white bow, just for that bit of contrast motu is known for. And maybe the weapons pack will come with a bat shield! I'd buy a bunch of packs just to have all the Horde (provided they make more :howink:) carrying a bat shield.

We know he is long down the road due to new parts but it's fun to talk about characters like him.
To me Mantenna is one of those characters who looked a thousand times better in 200x. Specially the color scheme they gave him.
I prefer the yellow eyes over the blue ones. The brighter colors in the staction were great while the classic figure was kinda.. meh!

How would you like Mantenna to look like in MOTUC? Closer to the staction or the vintage figure?

Well Mantenna (as some other members of the Evil Horde) is one of the characters I'm most thrilled about.
I have just recently bought Mantenna staction and I'm fascinated by it's look.
I've always thought that vintage figure has plain facial expression, and not evil enough (mini comic & POP apearance included), so I would like if this figure could be more influenced by 200X look. Also Mantenna should have four separate legs.

200X is the best so far. I liked the 4 legs and all the color scheme and detail.

200X influence definitely. Another vintage character that wasn't handled right by 80's limitations (like Leech), that the 4H improved by leaps and bounds.

I agree. I'd like to see them stick closer to the 200x design. I think the 200x version captured the character much better.
