I'm open to reordering for a more logical order, but not that order - frankly, I'm not interested in stuff that didn't see the light of day (i.e., protos & concepts), just cartoon characters, comic characters, movie characters and released toy characters. (Hell, if even a released toy didn't see prominent use in at least one story, does it really represent any more of a character than that background extra57 I dismissed before?)

I am seeing the proto's & concepts as unique individuals as well, there are only a handful of them (@ 292 - 306). The Fearless Photog is also part of them. He was never created, but is still a very important part of the MOTU history. (http://www.eternian.com/reference/conceptfigures.html) Gy-Gor is so obscure that he wasn't even listed, but now we actually see him being released into the MOTUC line.

And I was just going to leave it, because ~15 in the midst of over 300 isn't worth arguing about. It was the proposed sorting that split the franchises out (which would immediately result in at least three He-Men and multiples of others), counted by toy (which would separate Adam & He-Man, even before counting variants) and put unproduced toys over major cartoon characters like Shadow Weaver that got me.

Nah - whoever the masks ended up on would have been supplanted by Deemos & Tyrella. They're not the same people as their hosts the way Adam & He-Man, or Adora & She-Ra are.

I'm not too bothered about pushing this, but if I was going to eliminate from Two-Bad's three entries, it'd probably be the conjoined form, since Tuvar & Baddhra stay seperate characters even when they're forcibly stuck together.

#175 Superman needs to be removed from the list. He is not a MOTU character and should not be included in this list. Frankly, all of the silly background characters such as Nurses, Eternian Fire Department should be removed as well. Otherwise, we are not going to get an accurate count as these are artificially inflating the list. These types of characters are not likely to ever to be made into figures either.

Two things with this.

Superman has appeared in 2 MOTU stories, so has appeared in MOTU a lot more than some of the characters (and even some loved characters like Strongarm and Fang Man)

Secondly, why remove characters as they're not likely to be made into figures? This thread is about naming all the MOTU characters, there are threads already about who is eligible for a figure, and if this was one of those, then I would whole heartedly agree with you!

There were over seventy characters produced as toys in the original MOTU line, so I don't think Mattel will struggle to find candidates, but yes, fitting them all in could be a challenge. I think we'll see quite a lot of extras / bonuses appearing along the way.
