I liked last episode quite a bit. Miss Martian is like an exchange student trying to be nice with everyone and she does quite well.
Superboy having dark mood is quite odd and very different from the "Reign of Supermen" storyline in which he appeared for the first time. Most likely that one of the members of "The Light" might be his "other daddy" than Superman. Actually, Supes acted like a jerk role model with him in the premier episode.
Speedy role is intriguing me. He's been shown very resentful with no extraordinary reason and I'm quite amazed that Green Arrow took it so lightly. I wonder if the "Snowbirds Don't Fly" storyline is going to be adapted or hinted in any way or they will go with a lower or similar tone as Red Hood Jason Todd.
It'd be very interesting that you bring up Jason Todd. I've so far taken this Robin to be Richard Grayson but with them saying Batman has forbidden him from revealing his true identity you don't know if it is Ricard, Tim or even Jason, though I doubt it will be Todd.
Yeah I read that too but it kind of doesn't make sense to have the first Robin and Kid Flash be on the same team, let alone be teenagers, at the same time that Kon-El Superboy is a member. Don't get me wrong, if I'm putting together a team like this I want the best Kid Flash and the best Robin on the team along with Superboy, it's kind of like having Kirk and Spock be the captain and second in command at the same time as having Worf be your security officer and Data be third in command. All your favorites are here. Plus, the original Aqualad is supposed to show up and be a kind of mentor to the current Aqualad. Wouldn't Grayson and Wally be the same age and possibly at the same points in their careers as Garth? Well, maybe not. I'm still intrigued to see if Wondergirl will be Donna Troy or Cassie.
When it comes to the DC animation crew over at the WB I trust their judgement. I have high expectations for them and they haven't let me down yet.
I loved Miss Martian. She's just the way she is in the comics. I also like Aqualad a lot too. Kid Flash is kinda' fun, but Superboy and Robin are rather unlikable.
They may have made Robin and Superboy a little less likeable on purpose.
New episode "Schooled" premiered tonight, anyone watch?
I thought it was a good episode, like Black Canary's introduction, especially the part with Her and Kid Flash!
I liked it, I still feel longer or two part episodes would allow for a better story flow. They seem short, and with tonight's episode can come off a bit cliche.
This episode was really flawed in my opinion. When the mission is being explained by Martian Manhunter, he says that Amazo attacked Green Arrow and Black Canary... when she is clearly standing there in the Sanctuary with the kids! Then, WHY did they need trucks to transport the Amazo parts? They're the Justice League! They have teleporters... and The Flash is one of them, so he could have just hand delivered them to STAR Labs! Why did they need trucks and for the kids to be on bikes. Seriously, even though the toys aren't out yet, I predict the bikes will be part of the line and you'll see Motorcycle Robin, etc. in the mix.
Also, I felt like Miss Martian and Aqualad kinda got left out toward the end.
There is already the general suspension of the Justice League could have done it. Last weeks episode could have been taken care of by the League also, the previous is explained away with it happened to Young Justice basically.
Eventually we will either get tired of hearing or it just won't be mentioned anymore, 'The Justice League is on mission elsewhere,' or 'So and So is doing something else.'
I was underwealmed by the third episode but the last 2 with Danny Trejo as Bane and a pretty menacing Amazo had me wealmed, not overwealmed, but pretty wealmed.
So far I thought the Mister Twister episode was the only really poor one, but none of them have come close to the standards of the pilot. Its mostly just been "OK".
So far, I much prefer Avengers.
Yes, despite some okay looking character designs, the Avengers show is probably the best super-hero team up show out there today. It's kind of unfair to Young Justice to compare it to the Avengers. Not that Young Justice doesn't have the writers, James Tucker is a genius, but the JLA are only on as guest stars. Plus, the Kang storyline they are in now is great.
Huh. I just stopped DVRing Avengers. It's not bad at all, but it just wasn't doing the trick. It felt like a chore to watch it.
The animation in YJ is a lot better than Avengers, and I'm just a bigger DC fan than Marvel, but I can see how Avengers is working better. I think this few episodes in, it was still not quite as strong for me as it has become, but I appreciate seeing an adaptation of what has always been a fractured universe for me. It's great to see all these parts fitting together in that show. I think if I had seen Avengers as a kid, I'd have been into Marvel more than I was (the 90s shows did nothing for me except for the Silver Surfer toon). Instead, Super Powers made me a DC fan forever. However the more I see, the more I think YJ is just a way different animal from Avengers or even JLU.
When I was a child I really liked Super Friends and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends but the show that made me a fan of Marvel was the Incredible Hulk show. I can't say I'm one way or the other but DC and Marvel both have their strong suits. Look at DC's top 3, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Not only are they on the same team but they generally like each other. Look at Marvel's big 3, Spider-Man, Hulk and Wolverine. They have all been in the new FF together but in general they don't even like each other let alone get along. I love the conflict of Marvel but I love the team work of DC.
I'm just enjoying seeing who shows up - guys like Sportsmaster, Shimmer, Mammoth, etc. I'm not in love with the show so far - but I'm hoping it grows on me. (Superboy's a little too much 'sulky teenager' for my tastes, but I get that that's the point.) Miss Martian is adorable, and Aqualad's pretty cool (although from Teen Titan days, I keep expecting a "Boo-Yah!" - Khary Payton does his voice, I think?)
So who is "The Light", I wonder? I'm assuming Deathstroke is going to have to be one of them, but I wonder if the rest are going to be a standard Legion of Doom type line-up (Luthor, Sinestro, Grodd, etc.), or a total random collection of characters.
I agree with you shokoti.
I think that storm being from africa, and black panther being a king from that continent does not match the storyline depth wise, of what storm had with forge.
it would be like me saying that champ clamp and the archeologist from he-man are related just cause they are black.
I think the fact we had to piece together the things like Black Canary being hurt being caused by an earlier attack shows to me the show needs a bit longer to tell the story it's trying to tell, or little pieces like Canary saying it was a tough fight a single line would have put it all together. I am one of those who doesn't want every detailed explained to me but there is also the opposite of you don't want too many people going wait what?
On top of that the Amazo fight at the end did feel rushed, at the end. I think the writers are more accustomed to a longer time to tell their story, it often feels more like they are trying to cram the story into 30 minutes or there were parts that were trimmed down to make it fit into that time frame.
I also understand why they used Amazo in the story it fit with the theme, but at the same time dropping him in this early based on the way he functions. Of course he is allowed the ability to learn and could be a more difficult threat later.
Which I think is why the current Avengers show is being received a bit better, the writers are a bit better at telling their story in a half our segment without feeling too rushed while still building to the larger story.
