Need help Repairing an Artilleray

I took my Artilleray toy apart to fix the top guard that has been broken off since I was a kid (more than 20 years ago). Does anyone where this spring goes to put this back together? I have attached some pics of it:

The blue part goes down and connects with the white piece, but where does the sping go?
