My theory is that the sacrifice at the beginning of the movie was actually a prisoner being executed and he ended up creating humans in the process. The cave paintings and pictograms suggest the Engineers had visited Earth many times since our creation, benignly checking up on us, but then 2000 years ago a ship sets off from a biological weapons facility heading for Earth loaded with, essentially, germ bombs. I agree it wasn't explicitly stated, but I took the inference as they meant us harm (and Shaw certainly drew the same conclusion).

But, it was the writer's stated aim to keep things deliberately vague precisely so we could counjoure up all manner of theories. That's why I liked the movie so much.

The Shining - Amazing movie with such great atmosphere, cinematography, and music. I can never get sick of this movie at all especially Nicholson's performance at the bar.

Watched Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5: Dream Child the other Day. Not bad. Not sure I liked it as much as 3, but it was up there with 4.

Also watched Army of Darkness last night, definitely one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I can watch thatmovie over and over and it never gets old!

What i saw in the last 3 days:
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 The Dream Master: Solid 4th entry of the saga, i saw this movie 4 times in theaters when i was a kid and had a Freddy doll to watching the TV show, this one had fun effects, some creepy scenes like the bug which scared me and imagination abound.
Day of the Dead (1985) on blu-ray: the grossest entry of the saga yet! i saw this movie when i was 13 on video after loving the first 2 movies and this one is very realistic on the gore that i nearly puked but still a terrific entry in the saga. Captain Rhodes is a jerk and Bub is a terrific zombie character no doubt, the blu-ray does a terrific job on it.
Land of the Dead Unrated Director's Cut blu-ray: underrated 4th entry i saw in theaters 2 times even when i was on my annual Vegas trip and it had fine performances by Hopper and company with good gore effects to a good story.
Bad Taste: Badass sci-fi horror comedy cult fave debut from Peter Jackson and one you must watch to see why it's a cult fave. Loved this since i was 12 and this is what made me the Jackson fan i am today, not for weak stomaches but for those with a sense of humor.
Tales of Terror: Loved this since i was 5 when i saw it on TV, one of my fave Corman movies and horror anthologies.
Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend: You have to see this 1987 cult animated horror fantasy erotic cult classic to believe it, shocking and politically incorrect stuff. I rented this when i was in high school and thought it was shocking unlike any animated movie i've seen but strangely compelling as it's loaded with excess from rape, mutilation, graphic sex, gore, demons, transformations and all that. It made hentai mainstream and nearly crippled anime's reputation but it is the first NC-17 rated animated movie ever.
Dead Alive (aka Braindead) uncut version: kickass gore-fest horror comedy! loved it since i was 12 when i rented it as it did grossed me out in a good way, this is one of Peter Jackson's pre-Hollywood movies and his second masterpiece after LOTR. Goofy and gory live-action cartoon that plays like Re-Animator done by Tex Avery and the goriest film ever made, check it out.
The Crow on blu-ray: A 90s classic! horror, fantasy, action, thriller you name it all as it has those genres in one. It's also one of the best comic based movies ever and one of my favorite movies since i saw it 4 times in theaters in junior high and read the graphic novel afterwards.

Silent Hill Revelations - I am disappointed. Everything they got right, was done exceptionally well. The monsters were awesome, the music rocked, and the scenery was amazing, especially the amusement park. However, the pacing of the movie was absolutely atrocious. They threw what clearly should have been a 2 hour movie into a 90 minute run time just so they could afford to do it in 3D. Plus, Carrie Ann-Moss was terrible as Claudia Wolf. That lady's acting ability just keeps diminishing every time I see her in a newer movie. However, like I said, the plot was completely rushed, but the ending was really nicely done and sets the movie off where they could do multiple movies if they really wanted to.

Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. I really enjoy watching silent/early movies, especially when you consider the level of skill that went into them to achieve shots, concepts and effects that we now have long taken for granted. I think the only other Murnau movie I'd seen was Nosferatu, so this was quite a departure from that!

The Devil's Carnival - It was okay. It has amazing costumes and some great set pieces, but the story was confusing and lacked any really memorable songs. I definitely prefer Repo The Genetic Opera over it.

The Sand Pebbles

Watched Magic Mike Sunday, it was actually a pretty good movie. I had serious doubts, and I was kind of roped in to watching it, but it was really good.

What i saw in the last days since i was here.

Silent Hill on blu-ray: Excellent underrated supernatural shocker that is faithful to the game and a nice ghost story in the Fulci vein, saw it 4 times in theaters and one of my fave horror movies ever.

Them!: one of the 50's best sci-fi horror movies and a quality entertaining picture, enjoyed this since i was 5 when i saw it on TV.

Army of Darkness: Loved this since i saw it 3 times in theaters and own both director's cuts and theatrical cuts, this is one kickass horror fantasy action comedy movie with the ever awesome Bruce Campbell.

Candyman: Quality supernatural shocker from Clive Barker and Tony Todd is flawless as the character, saw this 3 times in theaters when it came out and loved it, recommended.

Beetlejuice on blu-ray: It looks decent and sounds decent in high def, one of my childhood faves i saw 5 times in theaters and remembered having some merchandise and watching the cartoon all the time, a great classic horror comedy fantasy for everyone.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The series just keeps getting weak and this was Rosemary's Baby with Freddy, i did saw this 2 times in theaters and the uncut video version was good.

Friday The 13th part 6 Jason lives: Nice comeback for Jason to become a zombie and the Alice Cooper song "Man Behind The Mask" rocks, he really made a solid soundtrack here and this was the first F13 movie i saw in theaters.

Friday The 13th part 7: Solid entry of having a telekinetic teen challenging Jason, ingenious idea and did you all know this was originally gonna be Freddy meets Jason but New Line and Paramount couldn't do an agreement so we got Tina instead? i had a crush on the girl in this movie when i was a kid and i saw it 3 times in theaters at age 6.

Friday The 13th part 8: Only goes to Manhattan during the last 20 minutes but i liked this movie, the main theme song was cool though and i too saw this in theaters as a kid.

Jason Goes To Hell The Final Friday: Considered the black sheep in the series, i thought it was something different as it gives us the reason why jason couldn't die and has a nice surprise in the end that leads to a certain event in 2003.

Freddy's Dead The Final Nightmare: Silly supposed finale but gives us interesting back info on the character and had a nice cast with some silly kills, i saw this in theaters in 3D 3 times.

New Nightmare: Very different than the rest cause this is an alternate universe story and very self referential yet stylish despite it didn't have the real Freddy, saw this 2 times in theaters and enjoyed it.

Freddy vs. Jason on blu-ray: The REAL sequel to Freddy's Dead and Jason Goes To Hell, after 12 years in development hell the fan dream movie came true and i saw it 4 times in theaters, one of my fave entries in both series.

Wolf Creek: Kind of like Last House on The Left, I Spit on Your grave or Maniac kind of shocker from Australia but very well done and chilling.

Over the weekend I watched Cat's Eye, Twilight Zone the Movie, and Troll.

Finished Snoop Dogg's "Hood of Horror" in a attempt for last minute horror on netflix before Halloween. It was so-so, but really got into the animated bits.

Alex Cross. And if you have the chance, I HIGHLY recommend skipping it! You know you have problems when Tyler Perry is far and away the best part of your movie.

I wouldn't watch it anyway because choosing Tyler Perry to take over for Morgan Freeman is like asking Robert Pattinson to play James Bond. It is an insult to humanity.

So I just watched John Carpenter's Halloween and I do not know what to say about it. It started out really great with some interesting ideas, I liked the way he filmed the first person sequences, and the movie had a really nice mystery to it. The tension was built up nicely, the mood was great, Carpenter did a great job of keeping you guessing on when Michael was going to make his move. But then when Jamie's character walks in to find her friends dead, the movie starts to fall apart on me as her acting stopped being believable and the movements of the characters felt fake. Finally, it just suddenly ends with no resolution or climax. ***?

Oh yeah, and I could not help but laugh at the scene where the kids start watching The Thing.

I just saw Cloud Atlas- hated it. And, Frankenweenie- liked it a lot.

Had a Friday the 13th marathon the last two days.

So I watched Tales from the Crypt Season 3 today, completing my annual run of the show. Next Oct I start with the fourth season.

And then I just watched Trick r Treat and I never get tired of this movie. I love the intersecting stories, the constant time travel, the characters that show up in the background and what not in each story. I think my only confusion is how the old man's house suddenly got all of the jack o lanterns on it without him knowing about it and in such a short time span.

Rocky Horror Picture Show: This is by far one of my favorite movies (it's in the top five with Return to Oz, Labyrinth, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?). This is one of those movies I watch on Halloween (and New Years Eve).

I watched Creepshow Halloween night. Definitely one of my favorite fright films (love horror anthologies).

Stephen King's facial expressions in the second story are priceless. He's absolutely hilarious. Lunkhead. :hmlol:

Since it is now November, I started a viewing of all of the James Bond films. Just watched Dr. No last night. Dr. No has some fantastic moments and a really sinister feel at the beginning that makes you suspicious of every character but I always feel that the movie doesn't have a climax fitting of the build up. Everytime I watch the movie, I always hope for more of Dr. No. Of course, Ursula Andress, while not necessarily doing too much, is fantastic.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It: No matter how many times I've watched this, I always find myself laughing.

Skyfall: I like it more than "Quantum..." but less than "Casino...". It is quite a strange movie. It looks like an independent Bond movie for moments and then it pulls up some homages to classic Connery or Moore movies.
Most appealing is the back end history of Bond in the 3rd Act of the movie, which surprised me his land roots and heritage. Then it has a sort of wink to the fans and returns to a very classic (with too much emphasis) scenario.

Die Another Day - Man, this movie is pretty awful. It has an awesome opening segment, a pretty cool song (even if it doesn't song like a Bond song), but then the movie starts spiraling into crap. The plot takes an hour to kick in, not to mention it is lackluster and stupid, the whole dream machine is crap, and they picked some horrible actors in this movie. While Halle Berry is no where near as bad as Richards, she is still pretty terrible as a Bond girl. The only thing I can say positive about the movie outside of its opening is Michael Madsen is awesome.

Oh you ******!!! Why does the US get screwed on these movies? We have to wait about 3 weeks for it to come out after it comes out in Europe.
