Thanks for pointing that out. I used "he" when I should have used THEY, as in Marvel. It was Stan's call on how these women were depicted and Stan has said on multiple occasions that he likes the women of his comics voluptuous. I heard Stan say as much in an interview, although I can't remember the exact interview. Here's a quote from a fairly well known Marvel comic aficionado that reaffirms this.

He’s got the super intelligent mind, why does he need to be ripped?” In the same way that not every woman has to be like unbelievably statuesque and voluptuous. That black and white drawing shows just how porneriffically gorgeous she is. She may have been a drug addicted airhead, but damn if she wasn't sexy as hell. Too bad Mattel probably wouldn't be able to pull off her stunning looks in figure form.
I'd love to see Ileena included in a possible 2014 Club Filmation. Adding the Enchantress as well would be a dream come true. The designs of these two characters would work well within MOTUC.
I'd definitely buy one. Even out of character, she'd make a great sword and sorcery warrior figure in my collection. Forgot what she used in her episode, but it would be cool if she came with a fantasy archtype sword and shield (or even male character's weapons retooled to fit female figure's hands and arms with no stretching needed).

I wholeheartly agree, though I do have to wonder if rotoscoping female models was part of that (not that it would offend me). I also have to applaud the original action figures for being very full and muscular (in the legs at least).

She used this...

Jarvan offers Illeena a magical potion that will give her confidence, but only for a short time. Prince Adam and Teela worry for Illeena as she exhibits dramatic changes in her personality. As Illeena enjoys the highs and lows of her potion, she fails to realize that she is placing the entire Royal Palace in great danger at the hands of Jarvan. Only with help from He-Man and her other new friends is she able to be freed from the addiction Jarvan has cursed upon her.
Not only is Illeena strong in character and is featured in a storyline with an important moral message, her design would no doubt translate very well into the Classics line! She could be a great asset to the story being developed by Mattel for this toy series, and would look great alongside the other female warriors, including the line's growing selection of female PoP characters. The possibilities for accessories with this figure are wide open, and could include anything from a retro vintage style shield (possibly a color variation of the shield included with Teela's prototype figure?), or possibly a spear. She could even include a vial of the magic potion given to her by Jarvan, or one of the remaining relics from the Filmation era, such as the Disks of Knowledge or the Horn of Evil.
Vote for Illeena in Poll #5 this week and show your support!
Appearance: Episode 10 "A Friend in Need" (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe DVD set, Season 1, Volume 1, Disc 2)
Quote: “I wanted to be like you Teela.”
Notes: Illeena's lack of confidence was used against her by Jarvus, who sought revenge against those in the Royal Palace who had imprisoned him in the past. He tricked her into drinking potions that addicted her to a thrilling yet temporary rush of strength and high spirits granted by the evil wizard's magic mixtures. This addiction was used to coerce Illeena into stealing an important transmutator device from Man-At-Arms, and it was used in an attempt to shrink the palace. With help from He-Man and Illeena's other new friends, she was rescued from Jarvus's influence and the wizard was once again imprisoned.
I always thought she was so hot. She definitely sported by far the most revealing outfit of any of the Filmation ladies, and who can blame her for baring her entire midriff (even below the waist! :hmeek:) with those chiseled abs. The Valkyrie headpiece, leather warrior bra, shortest possible skirt and knee-high hooker boots are all icing on the cake. I dare say that she wouldn't have been drawn that sexy in any modern cartoons. The only surprising part is that they didn't make her boobs enormous to go with the rest of the dumb blonde image. I bet the animators had a blast drawing that episode!
Anyways, she's a Filmation essential and needs to be in my collection!
I voted her #1 in her poll. She's an awesome character with a fantastic visual design!
