I think even some simple changes, like getting rid of the spade, would make a huge difference. Why not put the power ring skull in its place?
i like the spade lol
And as I've said I like masked characters and with all the disdain for him it's making me like it even more. If people don't like it and it's because of the design it won't be the 1st character/figure people don't like.
i'm focusing on the plastic. it looks like a basic buck with a superhero's head. total pass.
One of my favorite aspects of MOTU is the imaginative characters - especially those borderline ridiculous. Take Stinkor, who was also revealed yesterday. The guy is a giant skunk. Yet it’s that absurdity that makes Stinkor so interesting that he’s being discussed close to thirty years later.
Spector’s a wasted opportunity. Mattel had the chance to add something special to a line that apparently means a lot to people, but instead they designed a character who is generic and dull. I understand those posts complaining Spector doesn’t fit in MOTU. A super hero type character may have been more accepted if he weren’t boring and bland.
I think he looks great and fits quite well in with MOTU. All the other characters take from something that came before.
Oh WOW! That's dead on!
He's an interesting design. It'll be interesting to see how he fits into the story line.
Man am i glad i did not sign up for the 30th anniversary figures. Mighty spector...what is this? Marvel. No, this is motuc. This character will be the jar-jar binks of motuc....man, who approves these kinds of ideas? I would've gone more fantasy/medieval.
I was going to play devil's advocate and say that the parts are so generic there that it's too tough to say whether this was his inspiration or not, but then I realized how much that underlines the fact that he's such a bland figure :hmlol:
I really like the cosmic key wrist band, it is very "time agent" (shout out to my fellow Who fans!).
So are we suggesting that, beyond being the most unoriginal inclusion in MOTU ever, the figure was actually a rip off materials previously presented by Mattel?
Yeah, I could see it.
The only part I like on this figure is the (concept of the) green fire whip. The utility belt is hideous and the holster looks more like an oversized breadbox. The playing card symbols are beyond lame and the overall impression this figure makes is that of an uninspired and incredibly dull combination of existing (yet individually cool) parts.
On the bright side, now that the worst MOTU character in history has been revealed, things can only get better (unless he somehow wormed his way into the new mini-comics as well).
I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for ToyGuru, the guy was given one of the most amazing privileges a fan of this line can get and he totally blew it.
