Looks fimilur... Great job!
Looks fimilur... Great job!
Thanks! I wanted to find someone to make the actual FILMation head for him (as I'm no head sculpter myself), but decided since Hurricane Hordak already returned to Eternia with the same face Original left with, I'd just keep it that way. Less work to do too!
Now to decide which one to finish next off my table: FILMation Skeletor (will have to wait 'til HKC's workload tones down so he can make me the head), Lorax (mimicking another HKC figure that requires a head from him), Choloh, Captain Randor, Oolar, Guerrero, He-Cat, Bravestarr, Blackstar, The Overlord, my two superhero personas of me and my figure's wife, one of my best friends, or Bionatops. Hmmm...Can't do anything with Platino (or Shidoshi for that matter) until Jitsu comes out next Feb. (Note: all of these figures I just mentioned are in one way or another started and most are at least half-way done.) Decisions, decisions...:hmroll::hmlol:
Ok, I decided that my next projects would be my two original superheroes I came up with in high school and college. The backstory is the same as my Matthew and Larisa characters, as these are their superhero personas, Mistico and Hertica (respectively), as you'll see in the photos. For Mistico, I used a Faceless One head and body, Zodak loincloth and staff, as well as a leather trenchcoat I found to fit him. For Hertica, it was She-Ra 2.0's head, Adora's body, She-Ra 1.0's boots, Captain Glenn tunic, and Catra whip. Once again, the Larisa head was made for me by FacelessOne. All other customizing was done by me.
Here are their bios:
Superheroine Fighter from Earth
Real Name: Larisa Oleynik-Gregory
An excellent telepath and seasoned veteran in fighting, Hertica is a strong woman as a powerful friend and dangerous foe. Possessing many mistical abilities beyond her telepathy, she helps her partner (and secretly husband) Mistico both on Earth and Eternia. When the two were asked to join Marlena Glenn in the Second Ultimate Battleground, they only needed to ask “What time?” before being whisked off to the magical planet. There, they were thrust into battle immediately, showing which side they stood on and turing the first open battle in favor of the Masters. Upgrading her costume with Eternian materials, she looked every bit the warrior she needed to be. Using her mystical whip when necessary, or her abiltiy to fire electricity from her fingertips, she is more than a match for any of the Evil Warriors that cross her path.
Superhero Fighter from Earth
Real Name: Matthew Gregory
When Queen Marlena used the Cosmic Key to return to Earth, she ended up recruiting two superheroes from that planet and brought them back with her. Mistico and his partner Hertica were asked to return with her and help the Masters win the Second Ultimate Battleground. Using his powers of Illusion and various weapons he created, Mistico became a great warrior and his costume was given some Eternian upgrades. In close hand-to-hand combat, he uses his metal claws and double-trident, but when something more is called for, he always has a “spell” up his sleeve to battle the likes of Shadow Weaver, Count Marzo, Hordak, and King Hssss. Once the battle was over and He-Man and She-Ra were sent to Primus, Mistico and Hertica returned to Earth thanks to Gwildor’s Cosmic Key. Some who don’t know of his origin think of him as a Cosmic Warrior and Zodak was proud to call him a friend.
My latest customs: Guerrero, The Bear-Foot He-Man & Lord Choloh. I figured to go with my "A He-Man vs. An Evil Villain" scenario, I pitted these two vs. each other. Guerrero is a Man-At-Arms helmet (modified), He-Man head, body & battleaxe, Demo-Man shins & feet, TRU Skeletor Sword. Choloh is Demo-Man head & sword, Carnivus body, Webstor feet, WP Beast armor & whip, Kamala shield, Trap-Jaw belt skull. And now for the bios:
Guerrero (original figure by Tony Guerrero; bio by me)
The Bear-Foot He-Man
Real Name: Guerrero
Guerrero was nicknamed “Bear-Feet” by his tribesmen because he always wore a pair of real bear feet as boots…bear feet that he took from his personal hunted game. He was an amazing fighter and would help anyone—friend or foe—when in need. Skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as sword and spear, his favorite weapon of choice was the shortsword until the Goddess asked him to take guardianship over the Sword of He. Taking his half of the Power Sword to stave off evil that would try to take over Eternia and the secrets of Grayskull, he became an even fiercer fighter and was praised by his people. His fate is unknown to all but a few, for he disappeared without a trace after more than two decades of guarding the Sword of He.
Lord of the Jungle
Real Name Choloh of the Jungle Beast Clan
A legendary name to Beast Men and those who dwell in the Eternian Jungle, Choloh came from a long line of leaders, great fighters, and voices full of great promises. More of a dictator than a gentle ruler, he often held arena fights, pitting his enemies against each other with the promise of the winner being returned to his or her life. Never holding his end of the bargain due to secretly poison-tipped weapons, even the winners lost and Choloh became a name to fear. The great fighter, Vykron, was one of his favorite gladiators and one of even fewer that he kept alive for repeat performances due to his showmanship and unique style. Upon Vykron’s death at the hands of Gygor, the great gorilla openly called Choloh out to face him in the arena one-on-one. Knowing full well that he would suffer the same fate or worse than Vyrkon, Choloh ran away. The people, seeing their leader flee for his own life, rose up in anger at Choloh and sided with Gygor against him. Choloh was forced to abdicate the throne and go into hiding with few of his servants and closest advisors, losing his life to one of them that stabbed him in the back.
Cool ideas on characters essential to the mythos.
Always enjoy your customs, man!
And now for my latest custom: He-Ro's grave marker! Yes, friends! The little symbol you saw many times sitting in front of Castle Grayskull in the MYP/200x cartoon which has been rumored and very nearly blatantly slap-you-across-the-face pointed out to be He-Ro's final resting place (thanks to the symbol on his MOTUC figure's cape) has finally been built by me. I've seen a few versions here on the .Org & decided to make my own. I like how it turned out & think it's not bad for not having worked with clay in about 15 years. Also this is my first time using a black "wash" (or any wash really) to highlight the deeper areas & make it look aged.
Two more customs I've made, I add more Gar to my shelves! Ok, one isn't truly "Gar", but his bio says he was mistaken for one. Inspiration for Fun-Dar comes from Jon-O (who made his own; the bio can be seen on one of his pages), and inspiration for Illumina comes from Emiliano Santalucia (who also wrote something of a bio for her).
Nice work on these!!
Here's my newest custom (and what a custom! Just in time for the Holidays so the Royal Family can FINALLY ALL be together!): FILMation King Miro! Using EP Randor's body, original Randor's head, WP Tri-Klops sword and Moss Man club, and a whole lot of paint, he finally exists on my shelves! Been wanting to see him in the line since Day 1 and wanting to make a custom since EP Randor was announced. So, he's finally here! His bio uses elements of Jon-O’s Fun-Dar figure (see my custom of that figure above).
Heroic Father of Randor
Real Name: Miro of the House of Dar
A once proud and popular king amonst his people, he had the fortune of being saved by his “uncle” Fun-Dar of the Jungle People in his youth and returned to his father, Wun-Dar. Even though Fun-Dar was not a Gar, he resembled one with his blue skin, and Miro devloped a love for the Gar race as few others ever have. Never understanding the hatred for the blue elves, Miro became king and later married a female Gar, having a son named Keldor with her. When Keldor’s mother died during childbirth, Miro remarried, this time to a human woman after hearing about the dislike to his first wife’s race and that his kingdom was on the verge of war because of it. He later had another son, Randor. Years later during the Great Unrest, Miro was spirited away to Despondos by Count Marzo, leaving his sons to fight in his stead. Randor and Keldor fought side by side, stripping Marzo of his powers with the help of the Elders. Years later, Miro’s son Randor was banished to Despondos himself by Skeletor, and began to search for his missing father. With the help of his daughter, Adora, and the Great Rebellion, they found him and made their way back to Eternia by way of the portal created by Hordak, who was taking his army through in hopes of finally conquering the magical planet for himself. Aged but not weak, Miro fights aside one son against another to preserve the planet he had tried to bring peace to once upon a time.
To add to my list of "historical" Classics customs, I bring you Vor-Tex, the Gar leader who started the tradition of naming their offspring after various winds. Also my final custom for the year. Hope you enjoy him! His bio:
Ancient Heroic Whirl-Wind Fighter
Real Name: Ga-Szol, Son of So-Lar
As a young Gar, he was always sickly and weak. Even growing up, Ga-Szol never really amounted to much physically. But his strength lay in his heart and values, not his physical body. He wanted to fight for his people against the Snake Men and free them of slavery to those villains, but his body would just not allow it. Invited to a secret lab for experimentation by a scientist who saw the heart behind the weak body, Ga-Szol was given a special serum that enhanced his strength and will power. He was also given an experimental flying suit that could cause great winds—even tornados—and allow him to fly. Using this suit, Ga-Szol fought against the Snake Men and threw them out of Anwat Gar for a long period. He helped the humans in their fight against the oppression of the Snake Men, joining with King Grayskull and his Masters of the Universe. For his heroics, he was re-named Vor-Tex, beginning the tradition of naming his sons and son’s sons after many forms of tornado, and passed his suit down from generation to generation. He also became one of the few Gar to be revelled by everyone in Eternia, not just his own people.
Ok. And now my Sword of the Ancients is in a piece of quartz!...Sorta. I took an empty slime container from the dollar store, sawed off the neck so it would sit flat, and drilled a hole in it big enough for the Sword to slide in and out of without scratching the paint but still would hold it snug. So here it is:
The slime that came with it works great for the Slime Pit or Mutant Slime Pit too! It's odd because it feels slimy & wet, but when you pull your hand away, your hand is dry. I tried it on a couple things and after pulling the slime off (it always stayed together, though it oozed everywhere), they were always dry.
LOVE the King Miro! They're all great customs, but King Miro takes the cake!
Mistico, you have such amazing customs. Your bios rock. Great ideas my friend, you are a great artist.
For my latest custom, I present: Oo-Larr, the Jungle He-Man! His bio contains some of the elements related to my King Miro and Jon-O's Fun-Dar.
King Grayskull head with custom hair
Zodac arms (shaved forearms)
Demo-Man loincloth & legs
WWE Kamala feet
Alcala Power Sword by evilmike (Shapeways)
Citadel Elf Flesh paint
The Jungle He-Man
Real Name: Oo-Larr
Grandson to Fun-Dar and a great warrior of his jungle people, one day, Oo-Larr felt the need to leave and find his destiny. Upon leaving the jungle, he found a fair maiden being attacked by a monster. Quick to act, he defeated the monster and saved the woman who turned out to be the Goddess. In thanks for saving her from the beast, she bequeathed him power armor, a battleaxe, and shield to help him guard the Sword of He from evil. During the peace following the Great Unrest, Oo-Larr became a guardian to the Royal Family, finding his heritage in their combined ancestry, and saved Prince Adam from being kidnapped by smashing his mighty axe across Skeletor’s battle armor, sending the ghoul back behind the Mystic Wall. Unfortunately he was too slow to save Princess Adora, who was in Skeletor’s arms as he was pulled back to Snake Mountain. His people safeguarded Adam from any other possible attacks from Skeletor for a long time after that. When Teela became Captain of the Guard, he went back to his people and retired the Sword to the Goddess, who took it back to Castle Grayskull to await its next guardian. Years later, he was informed of Princess Adora’s return and had a chance to meet her, apologizing for not saving her as a baby. She forgave him with a kiss on the cheek. Upon his death, they say you could not wipe the smile from his face.
with a jungle spear he'd be perfect!
