Just purchased Solomon Kane. Quite a good little film. A bit predicable at times, but I realise it’s nigh impossible to make a completely original film nowadays. I thought visually it was very nice, especially considering the fact that it wasn’t shot with a humongous budget. So props to the director and crew in that department. Also, I thought some of the sets and costumes were fantastic. I especially loved the designs for the evil Sorcerer at the end and the Devil’s Reaper. They looked like something straight out of Fighting Fantasy.

I also bought Clash of the Titans (2010) and Serenity recently, too.

I picked up The Prisoner of Zenda double feature over the weekend from Barnes & Noble -- it was on sale for $10.

The DVD has the 1937 version (with Ronald Colman) and the 1952 version (with Stewart Granger). Interestingly, the '52 version duplicated the '37 version shot for shot (learned that tidbit from TCM the last time they showed TPoZ '37).

The only thing I don't like about it, is that WB chose to use a flipper disc.

The last DVD I bought was Starship Troopers!!
It was just a couple of weeks ago from a nearby Dollar General.
Before that I got a two pack with The Cavern (ugh!) and Starship Troopers 2 (awesome)!
Just before that I bought Starship Troopers 3 (reintroducing Casper the friendly Vandiem (and gratuitous nudity!) to the mix)!!
    (trend forming!?!)

The only incarnation of Starship Troopers I owned before this was a downloaded AVI file that was grainy and crappy!! I had seen the others before, though, so I knew what I was getting into!!

I also wish I could somehow beam myself back to the eighties now and again, my children as well!! I have a Mattel catalog from 1985 that was from the holiday season and my wife and I both realized that toys haven't gotten any better AT ALL, than they were in the eighties!! In fact, we often give our kids toys from the eighties because we know what the characters are about!!

Okay, I gotta ask, where'd you find MOTU S2 V1 at? It's the one true hole in my MOTU DVD collection.

Over the weekend I picked up The Princess Bride on Blu-Ray -- $12 at Wal-Mart (they also had several other BRs for the same price, they were in a blue cardboard display box, Gremlins is the only other title that immediately comes to mind).

I missed out on picking up the Dread Pirate Roberts/Princess Buttercup edition a few years ago (it was chock full of extras), the recent 20th Anniversary DVD has barely any extras so I never picked it up. Fortunately the Blu-Ray seems to have most, if not all, the extras for the DPR/PB edition.
