Ok, fun story. At San Diego Comic Con this year, I'm having lunch with a few business associates, and I overheard a conversation at the table behind me. Someone talking about "building a 24 foot Castle Grayskull, and roller skates, and movie screens." I turned around, apologized for eavesdropping and even more for interrupting. I asked if he was speaking about the Masters of the Universe Power Tour, and he said yes! I mentioned how much it meant to me as a kid, and just how excited I was that someone else remembered it. He said ... ."remember it - I directed it!" It was Tony Christopher, now President and CEO of Landmark Entertainment! He asked for my contact info, which I gave him. That was in July.

This afternoon, his assistant called. Landmark's offices are in my neighborhood! (Right next door to the Disney Channel where I worked for 10 years!) He said, Tony had something for me.

I swung by this afternoon, and there was a MINT, I mean PRISTINE, He-Man Power Tour PROGRAM! It smelled like 1987! I was in HEAVEN! Tony wasn't there, but I was so happy, I almost kissed his assistant (and one of the graphic designers who was HOT!). His assistant said he's looking for footage, and if he finds some he'll call!

Such an awesome AWESOME guy to even have remembered that guy who butted into his conversation!

    I'm still floating!

    Ted
That is amazing! Congrats on the program it is awesome. That would rule if we were somehow able to get some footage of the show. I mean come on, some kids parents out there had to love him enough to take some video

truthfully most of the program, specifically all of those horrid "Glamour Shots" of the cast have been scanned. There are only like 4 pages or so that have not been distributed ad nauseam. But I will get to them this week sometime! I'm still gobsmacked! :-D

    Congrats!!!

See? It pays to eavesdrop and interrupt!

But I guess it pays more to be honestly enthusiastic and passionate.

I really hope that Tony Christopher (the Director) finds footage of this that he can post online. It would be great to see it. Chances are there is some footage. Most directors would want to have their work caught on film. I've directed a few plays over the years, and have always filmed everything that I directed.

Anybody see the MOTU Universal Studio Show or Power Tour?

This is following up on another thread. I'm just curious if any member actually went to one of these events and can relay what they remember.

I've found info on both, but not once have I read an account of what they saw or what happened in the show. There has to be at least a few who saw one of these shows.

I remember going to the Power Tour at the Peoria Civic Center, in Peoria Illinois. It was either right before Christmas, or right after, can't remember which.

I was little, so I don't rememeber too much about the story, but I vividly rememeber how everybody looked, and I though She Ra was so pretty!! And Beastman was scary as hell.

I do remember when they would change scenes, or locations... there was a huge door on the back of the stage, where the characters came out of, and these huge flat pannels would slam down infront of that door that showed Castel Grayskull, and Snake Moutain, and a few other places that I don't remember.

Wish I could explain more, but that's really all I can articulate with out sounding like a crazy person.

I do remember, and my mom still has the news paper clipping. The day before the show, The people who played He Man and She Ra went to the local childrens hospital, in full costume, and spent the day with the kids. I always thought that was just the coolest thing. There was a picture in the paper of 2 or 3 of the kids with He Man and She Ra.

I saw a show they put on here at Canada's wonderland (a theme park), it was a lot of fun, they gave away free copies of the Eternia poster, rolled not folded, I treausred that poster and was excited to see new characters and Eternia. I posed ina picture with skeletor and hordak, I held the dark half of the power sword, funnily the sword looked just like Wun-Dar's sword!. I also bought Jetsled and Stilt Stalkers there at the theme park. man what a great life it was back then. one of the reasons I collect MOTUC is because of the memories MOTU brings me. life used to be so good and free.

I remember the Power Tour!I think I was 4 or so at the time... Skeletor and Hordak scared the daylights out of me! I remember them coming down the aisles from the back of the house and being terrified, yet I knew She-Ra and He-man could take care of them. But, and this is posted on the embarrassing thing about MOTU thread, I was also such a gullible child that I thought they were all real! And I'd use the fact that Skeletor and Hordak tried to 'do their worst' as 'proof' for people when I told them that they really existed! But, I'd rather have believed in magic as a child than always be the cynical adult, so that's ok I think. (Oh and don't let my current location fool you... I remember clearly it was at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA)

Wow -- it's great this has ended up online. It is amazing the things that people ended up saving via VHS.

I wonder whatever happened to the Power Sword prop?

To bad I missed out on the tour as a kid. It may look a little silly to some now but through a child's eyes It would have been awesome to see.
