Chicagoland Sightings Part 2 - The Revenge!!!

Grumble. So this morning I went to BK to try to find Palpatine or Grievous. It looks like I missed out on Palpatine, as they're on to the new wave. However, when I asked about buying one of the toys, the guy went to the back and grabbed a new case, which he opened. I got excited and asked if I could have the Darth Vader - and then the guy absolutely refused to dig and look for it. He gave me a choice of just the regular toys.

So I do have a Grievous. But if anyone has an extra Palpatine, or manages to grab extra Vaders, I'd be interested. Maybe I'll go back again early in the day and hope to snag a Vader later.

good luck! by the sound of it i could almost bet that he knows people are looking for vaders and is keeping them for himself!!!

Honestly, I got the distinct impression that the whole thing was just stupid to him and he was tired of dealing with all these crazy adults coming in and wanting specific kids' toys.

Oh well, I've got my Darth Dew Slurpee topper on top of my computer now, so at least I've got Darth's head.

Well after heading to my local BK today to find that they are sold out of SW toys, (which I have no clue how that happened-they just got Wave 3 last Tuesday, and they had Wave 4 this past Sunday) I finally said to hell with that particular store. Went over the the one by my sister-in-law, and they were very nice, although they do have the disclaimer sign on the door about no toys sold seperately, and they would only do exchanges at the counter when it's not busy. Thankfully, they were slow when I went there today. My 3 kids meals had Princess Leia, Boga (The dinosaur thing from ROTS), and another freaking Jar Jar. I asked the girl behind the counter if I could swap Jar Jar for the "little vehicle", and she was amazed that I was probably the first person who got the toy that they wanted. So now, though it took 4 waves, I actually managed to get a whole wave.

And now I can relax until the weekend when Wave 5 will probably show up at my local chain.....

Hey guys-Got back late last night from NYC-it was AWESOME!!! You all should visit TRU Times Square if you get the chance!
A couple of things:
Skullface-can you give me a call when you get the chance? I don't want to wake the little one!
BrianS-Kenshin is coming in for you tomorrow.

Hope everybody read the news on the Con exclusive staction, cuz it's on the front page. KING RANDOR!!!!!!!!!!

I'm surprised that there's no pictures yet, but the fact that it's limited to 2000 pieces scares me. For $20 (which is exactly what Mattel was charging for Keldor who was 5000 pieces) It's gonna be gone quick, unless NECA does a freakin' lottery. And we don't know yet if it'll actually be at WWC. IF so, I'm sure they'll break it up in another uneven allotment like 1500 for SDCC at 500 per day, and 500 for WWC at 166 a day......

Now bring on the pics!

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but it'd probably be a smart move to move this Sunday's meeting to next Sunday 6/12, since most of us will be at the get together Saturday night, and several have said they probably couldn't make both in one weekend. I know that I have to open at work all weekend, so I wouldn't be home at all, and I'm sure Kim wouldn't have it. So, I'm making the executive decision to move it, but feel free to post any thoughts here, or if anyone does feel like getting together Sunday, by all means do so.

Question: Would it be asking too much for someone here who had a store discount get me a PSP with their discount? I have the money ready to go so no worries and could meet up and get it to you before or after. My brother is dieing for one, and after seeing all the cool games available even I'm getting interested. I haven't played video games in a while, but wouldn't mind getting one of these. What's the regular going price, $250? Should I wait a little while and see if it goes down to $200?

The regular price is $249.99 + tax. (Around $270 total) With my discount at Target after taxes, it'd come out to around $243. I'm not sure if Dennis' discount would get it any cheaper for you, but he's probably the other guy to ask. Since it just came out a little over 2 months ago, I doubt there'll be a price drop before X-Mas. Just out of curiousity, what games are you interested in? Personally there isn't much out right now, or much coming in the next 6 months that excites me too much. I've got Metal Gear Ac!d, Darkstalkers & Dynasty Warriors, but none of them are that great. Only game I'm really looking forward to is the upcoming Daxter title. I mostly use my PSP for playing videos. I wouldn't spend the $15-$30 on the officially released UMD videos, so I just rip my own DVDs and load them on the memory stick. I've got a 512 MB right now, and it can hold almost 2 hours of good quality video, about 3.5-4 hours of decent quality. I have no problem hooking you up with one, but I'd need the $$$ up front.

Is anyone picking up the Fantastic Four movie figures? A buddy of mine from Target picked up the Invisible Woman for me, but I don't know what version it is. Anyhow, I was wondering because any of the three versions of IW I see I'm picking up to trade for a version that I don't have. I don't know if one is "more rare/hard to find" than the others and I really don't care. I'm looking to do even trades so let me know if anyone needs one so I can keep my eyes open.

i'm in the same boat as you. as far as i know, the variations are equally shipped.

i picked up a couple extra of the totally clear version to trade for the others. i think i might have a deal in the works for a half-and-half one, but if you find yourself with an extra totally-painted version, and would like to swap for a clear, let me know.

or, if you just need to get ahold of a clear one, i'd be happy to offer it to you for purchase price.

no problem at all. when you find out which "doll" you have, be sure and let me know, and i can keep an eye out for the other versions for you. i seem to have an odd habit of finding plenty of what i don't need -- i think i've seen around 10 totally clear ones on the pegs since i found mine. not one of the other versions. (this would make a lot more sense if that was the common version, but everything i've heard claims there is equal distribution. hmm. maybe it's regional.)

Thanks to all for the congrats and the congrats! As you can tell it certainly did surprise me.

When Mike said he "had a question for me" 5 minutes after graduating getting "the question" wasn't exactly the first thing on my mind. So I guess I might be showing up for a few more Horde meetings despite moving to the Phoenix area. It was awesome to see you all before going to Greece. Unfortunately, I will be leaving for home on the 11th so I won't be able to see you this month.

Overall the graphics just seem incredible. I thought there were more games out than the list I got, but overall it seems to be doing much better than the DS. Any idea if this system will be around for good or if it will be another system defeated by gameboy?

Of course I can have the $ up front, but first I want to know if I can get it any cheaper as $250 is just way to much for a handheld system imo, but if I can get it down a bit I could at least justify my spending by thinking in my mind that I got it cheaper than most people, though that won't really help it'll at least trick my mind lol.

I picked up a Darth Vader and he's AWESOME, I wish I had toys like this when I was a toddler. I don't think I'm going to open him he just looks so radical in the packaging. That's right I said radical.

I don't know that Dan picks them up, but Jimmy & I do. (Maybe Gabe?) I'm caught up on them though, just waiting for the Obi-Wan & the Mace Windu to show up. (Unless you're referring to the Force Battlers which are also RADICAL!) Still have to grab Anakin & Obi-Wan on those, and waiting for Chewie, Mace & Clone Trooper to hit.....

Well, we've gotten a couple of Collection 2 cases at work the last 2 days, but they're still Wave 3. No Tarkin or the other 2 newer ones. Just cases packed 2 each of C-3PO, Dooku, Battle Droid, AT-TE Tank Gunner, Polis Massan, & Mas Amedda. I STILL can't believe how fast Darth Tater sells! Thursday morning the shelf was overflowing with a dozen or so of him, and when we closed Friday, they were all gone!

The Toy Teamlead also said that apparently we will no longer be receiving electronic lightsabers or the blaster assortments.

Jimmy - Dude, where's my e-mail? All I got was the newsletter. Guess I'll have to give you a call at the store tomorrow......

i have yet to pick up the force battlers, the only one i really wanted was darth vader and he's nowhere in sight by me??? i might just pick up the other 3 before they dissapear.

Yeah I have force battler vader and he's alright, I'm talking the Jedi Force Vader which is like the toddler one similar to the spidey and friends figures that I know Dan collects. He's awesome with his light up lightsaber, such a cool figure. Glad I stole it from some unlucky toddler right out of his hands.... Kidding. They've been sitting there for a long time at my Target and I'm just like what the hell if the toddler hasn't bought this arlight I'm getting it.

Happy Birthday Big D! Hope you have a smurfy one.

Edit: Well as of today I am a high school graduate! I even got a presidential achievement award

I wasn't the best student but I still graduated!
