Sorry bout not being able to make the meeting, but I had to drive my sister to Midway to pick up a friend and then help my mom watch my nieces and nephews. What did I miss?
I will be coming to the meeting today. It will be my first time coming to one of these things. I probably won't be going out to eat afterwards, though, only because my fiance and I already have plans to grill some burgers later.
But, I am looking forward to it. It will be cool to hang out with some other MOTU fans.
I pretty much know how to get there and I am familiar enough with Butterfield in general, but can anyone point out any major land marks near where the store is located? I don't believe I've ever been to think particular Graham Crackers location before, and if anyone could point out a major landmark off of Butterfield that is near the store, that would be awesome.
And if no one sees this post and replies before I leave, I'm sure I can still figure it out.

Thank you Mario, but our Princess is in another castle.
Not a whole lot, I don't think. I got there late and people were watching the Venture Brothers, then we went out to eat.
Oh hey, Dennis, has the DS Lite sold out at your store? Any idea if any of the stores will have it? I didn't get a chance to get one today and I wondered if they were all sold out.

Actually, don't worry about it. I stopped in at the Best Buy on 75th St. this morning and they had one sitting out, so I grabbed it.Originally Posted by D-Day V1

For anyone getting a DS Lite from Best Buy this week...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...oryRep=cat02000
This is a link to an online coupon that you can print up to get a free copy of Brain Age with it. Aerostratos88 originally posted this link in the DS Lite thread from the other discussion forum ( http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...=131934&page=3 ).
I bought my DS Lite yesterday from Best Buy on Route 59. Prior to going, I had glanced at that thread and saw this thing about the free game. I didn't print the coupon up though (figuring they would have it at the store since it was an in store coupon). I asked someone about it, they had no idea what I was talking about, so I just bought the system.
Then last night I was online, and chatting with an old high school buddy who lives in MI now, and he got the DS Lite from his local Best Buy and got the free game. Apparently they had the coupons printed up at the store, and an employee gave him one. He didn't even know about it before hand. Apparently thats how Aerostratos88 originally found out about it as well.
I printed up the coupon, and after work today I'm going to run home, grab my receipt and system (incase they need a serial number off of it) and run over the Best Buy and see if I can get the free game. It's not the most exciting title ever, but hey, it's free.
So, i just wanted to make everyone aware of that. If you haven't gotten a DS Lite yet but are planning on it, you can take advantage. If you've already gotten one from Best Buy, but didn't know about the thing like I did, then you could try taking you receipt in with the coupon like I will be to get it.
I will let everyone know how it goes after I go there.
Yeah, I'll bring them again next time. They aren't anything extremely impressive or anything, but I think they are pretty good (I don't have a lot of cutomizing experience aside from the few that I've made brought with me).Originally Posted by Son of Keldor
I showed them to one or two people, but since we were just kind of hanging out and going back and forth throughout the store (which was cool and fun) and didn't really have more of a formal sit-down meeting, I didn't really get the chance to show everyone (and I just kind of forgot after a while as well). But, I'll be sure to bring them to the next meeting.![]()

How do u like it Seb?
Thank you Mario, but our Princess is in another castle.
I grabbed it on the way in to work this morning, so it's been sitting there tempting me all day. I'll let you know when I get home tonight. I'm not about to start playing it while on the job.Originally Posted by D-Day V1
Thanks for the tip about the coupon, Dynamo, I'll have to see if I can go get that, since I didn't get the free game.

No prob.
As for the Lite itself, it is awesome!
I bought mine just before I came to the meeting last night, and didn't get a chance to play it until I got home later.
During the time inbetween, I was kind of kicking myself for buying it thinking "I shouldn't have spent the money."
But once I played it, that all changed!
The difference between the Lite and the regular DS is like night and day. The screen is much more bright and clear. The colors are more vibrant. Remember the difference between the regular, non-light up GBA and the GBA SP? This is probably just as big of a difference, if not bigger.
It's better than the regular DS in every way except one...
On the old one, when you put in a GBA game, it went all the way in and was 'flush' with the system. Now the GBA games stick out a bit, which is kind of annoying.
That is about the only complaint I have about the system. But the postitives completely outweigh the negatives, IMO.

I want to get a DS to get that new super mario bros game. Should I get the DS Lite then, or is the screen much smaller?
You sure you don't work for Nintendo DoE![]()
leo, I'm almost positive that the screen size is exactly the same. It's just the shell/casing that's smaller. The only benefit I can see from getting an original model is that it'll be significantly cheaper and (probably) easier to find....Originally Posted by leonardo
Forgot to mention this earlier, but I hope nobody wanted one of the Superman Returns Lex Luthor figures in the gray parka, cuz I saw 2 last night at a Wally on my way home.....

As far as I know, the original model isn't any cheaper, unless you are getting a used one. The new Lite one is $130, and that's the same price that the regular DS has been at for a while now.
And even if the Lite was more expensive, the screens are so much nicer that it really would be worth the extra money.
Oh, and as a follow up to the free Brain Age game, I was able to get it from Best Buy last night. They just took my receipt, rung it up as a return, then redid the transaction with the coupon to get the free game. I think that I got the last copy of the game a that particlar store, too (unless there were more hidden somewhere that I didn't see). It's an ok game. Nothing great. It's still worth it since its free. If nothing else, if I decide I don't want it after a while, it may be a few bucks for a trade in at Gamestop or something.

I'm trying to stay away from the Superman Returns figures. I've got too much stuff and I know next summer they'd be in the basement with the X-Men:the movie toys.
Speaking of figures, it looks like genius here never got a Nick fury Marvel Legends. I know it's like 8 waves old, but if anyone comes across one, please let me know!
Wow - I think Fury's the only one from Wave 5 that I DO have. Managed to find him at a Meijer when the Galactus Wave hit. (Oh, and I think I grabbed a Silver Surfer from Toy Show) If you don't have one by the time I start getting caught up on older waves, I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal on one....Originally Posted by JimmyPSHayes
The Best Buy I went to was out of it, so I was out of luck. And even if they had it in, they said I would have had to return my DS and buy it again so they were on the same receipt - and I had already opened the box. Oh well, I'd be more upset if it was a game I was actually interested in.Originally Posted by Dynamo of Eternia

Well, its not much of a loss since the game isn't that great.Originally Posted by BrianS
But technically, that's all they did was count mine as a return and then just rang it up again. The fact that I had opened it didn't matter. They didn't even need me to bring in the system (which I had in the car, just incase). All the info they needed was on the receipt. They just rang it as a return, handed me the cash (which they must have to do as a technicality, since I was handing it right back), rang it up again with the coupon and game, I handed the cash back, the end. The fact that the system was already opened shouldn't matter since you are going to be keeping it and not actually trying to return it. You are just redoing the same purchase, only now with the free game.
At any rate, since they were out of the game, there's not much that could have been done anyway. The game is alright, nothing great. It may just be a few bucks in trade in value at Gamestop, if I decide not to keep it (not sure yet).

Toyfare says that there will be an exclusive cover to the She-Ra dvd available at WWC. It looks like the old movie poster-pretty sweet!!
Sweet! Too bad it'll be at SDCC as well. It'd sure be nice to have 1 worthwhile exclusive that they don't have. Does the article say who'll have the booth by any chance? Or would this most likely be Val's booth, since BCI ain't gonna come to WWC.....Originally Posted by JimmyPSHayes
Nope, but it's ONLY at WWC, NOT SDCC.Originally Posted by Skullface
Man, I will definately have to pick that up! I just hope that they don't sell out too quickly before I have a chance to get one.
Thanks for the info, Jimmy!

Great. It's getting harder not to go now. Maybe I can squeeze in one day. She won't know, will she????![]()
The Horde is dead. Long live the King.
Well, if you can't make it, maybe someone can pick up a DVD for you.Originally Posted by ChgoMarc
From the sound of things in the She-ra forum, they don't expect the limited edition DVD to completely sell out at WWC, so there should be plenty to go around that weekend.
I've been on the fence myself about going to WWC this year. I was originally going to skip it. Now I plan to go for at least one day (most likely Saturday). Now I'm debating whether or not to go more than that.
