Yay... Toy hunting... my favorite...Well, I guess the bright side is that we have more than a 15 minute window to actually get the figures.
Okay, here's the good news. The Battlecats have arrived. I picked them up today. The very interesting thing was the way they were shipped. They actually shipped in the Mattel Battlecat product box (kind of like the boxes that the DCUC figures come in when Jimmy gets them in at the store), with the Mattel logo, the name Battlecat on the box, the purple stripes or whatever, etc. It looks like the box originally heald 12 Battlecats. It had the 10 that I ordered, and they put the 2 sets of stands and Trap-Jaw that I ordered where the other 2 BC's used to be. And the box is FRIGGIN HUGE!!!! I'm probably going to separate the BC's into a couple of smaller boxes for transporting to the store tomorrow night just to make them easier to carry.
The (somewhat) bad news. I opened the white mailer boxes for about 5 or 6 of the Battlecats to check them out, and overall everything is in good condition (packaging is fine, etc), but all of them have the mask partially off of the face, so it's not the best by default for "MIB" displaying.
I had ordered 3 for myself, one to keep MIB and 2 to open (I plan to put regular He-Man and one and BA He-Man on the other). The problem is that his head is really heavy (even without the mask, but especially with it). His neck is made to move up and down, but the weight of the head combined with the looseness of the articulation makes his head fall down, and it's like he's looking down on the ground like he is depressed. I'm going to have to find a way to keep the heads looking up.
I ended up partially opening the "MIB" one (which I guess is technically no longer truly MIB). There are some tabs on the side of the box that I opened (I had to cut some tape seals), and opened it enough so that I could try to push his mask back over the head. It does look better now than it did to begin with, but it's still not 100% on there. The plastic ties holding his head and helmet in the packaging interfere with it fitting properly.
But, none the less, he is overall an excellent figure. Once I find a way to keep his head up, all will be good.
EDIT:
So after I posted the above stuff about Battlecat, it was just shy of 8:30, and I decided to run to the Toys R Us in Aurora by the Fox Valley Mall just to see if they would have anything, but thinking that they probably wouldn't.
But, THEY DID!!!
They only had 2 of each pack (Superman/He-Man and Luthor/Skeletor) on the shelf. I ran around to hunt down one of the stock people to see if they had any more in the back (because I was fully prepared to buy as many of these as I could to hook everyone up). He scanned one of mine to see if they had anymore, but he said that they didn't.
I am doing the open 1 of each, keep 1 of each MOC thing, so unfortunately I don't have any extras to part with right now. But I will be keep an eye on this store and checking there regularly, so I will grab any more for everyone else as they become available.
Here is a picture of all 4 packs before I opened the "openers" (sorry for the lighting in this shot):
Here is my receipt (I blocked out some personal info sections, but the pertinent info is sill there.... and it came out to $145 even!, which included another DCUC figure in addition to the 2-packs):
The Superman/He-Man card back (the section that is behind Superman and He-Man in the package...before I removed the comic):
The Luthor/Skeletor Snake Mountain cardback... CHECK OUT THE HYBRID BETWEEN 200X SNAKE MOUNTAIN AND THE CLASSIC PLAYSET:
The Comics that come with them:
The Superman and Lex Luthor figures:
The standard MOTUC Skeletor and the 2-pack version side by side (not necessarily in that order):
The standard MOTUC He-Man and the 2-pack He-Man, BOTH RIDING BATTLECATS (which actually just got delivered today as well! It's been a major MOTU day!.... I also have to find a way to hold the Battlecats' heads up, because they are so heavy that the necks keep falling down on their own):
And last I got this TRU exclusive DCUC Batman figure when I was there (he is also on the above receipt):
By the way, they had several of this Batman figure, so if anyone needs one, I can pick one up for you. The only difference between this version and the previous black & gray version that came in the 5-back and was later released on it's own seems to be the version of the bat symbol on his chest (and the belt may be a different color.. I'm not sure off hand, I'll have to compare him to the other black/gray Batman to be certain).
I will say, the hunt can be thrilling if it wield positive results without having to strike out too many times (or at all)!

Nice score Brandon! Looking forward to finding the 2-packs!
That Batman is the same one that will be in the upcoming Wal-Mart exclusive 2-pack with the repainted Robin from Wave 3. (Minus the accessories) I'm debating on collecting all the DC 75th anniversary pins they're putting out this year, but REALLY don't want to buy duplicate figures, not to mention I dropped Infinite Heroes, which will also have the pins. (I believe the All-Star re-releases also have the pins, but I have all the figures already.....*sigh*)
Maybe I'll keep an eye on eBay for people dumping the pins.
How many 2 packs do we need? I can try and hit the TRU in Melrose Park after work/before nap time
Thanks
Marc
Nice score Big B!
i'll take 1 of each if anybody finds them. i'm hoping to hit the one by me and see if i get lucky, and i'm hoping to find the 2 packs too!

Is the Robin in the 2-pack significantly different from the Robin that already came out? If so, I may consider returning this Batman figure to TRU (I haven't opened him yet) and wait on the 2-pack. However, if Robin is going to be just like (or very very similar to) the one that came out in a previous wave, I may just keep this figure.
If I end up keeping this Batman and opening him, you can have the button, Brad. While the buttons are kind of nice, they aren't that important to me.

Nice find Brandon!!!
Brad-You can the pins from any figures that I open or get.
And Brandon, you disappoint me! The one picture that I WANTED to to take, you didn't. I want to see the inside of the comic to see the quality of the reprints that they did. I've only read these comics on newsprint(the only way they were published)and I can't wait to see the colors on the shiny new versions. And yes, I am a REAL comic DORK!!!![]()
I love it when a plan comes together.
The reprints are nice. I only flipped through them briefly, but they seem to be on nicer, glossier paper, and are not on news print. I can bring the comics with me when I come to the store tonight if you want to see them up close.
I may try to stop at that same Toys R Us after work today (before I come to the comic shop) to double check if they have any more of these 2-Packs. I have to stop by the bank anyway, which isn't that far from that TRU.
I know the guy that I talked to last night said that there weren't any more, but I don't know for sure if he was telling the truth. He didn't come across as lying, per say, but it was about 15 minutes or so before the store was going to close (and for all I know he might have thought I was going to buy these up to sell on ebay), and when he scanned one of the figure boxes with his gun, I didn't see what came up on the display, so he may have just politely been trying to get me to go away or something.
Also, when I was at the register checking out, I asked the woman at the register if she knew when they typically get stock in (it would have made more sense for me to ask the stock guy earlier, but I didn't think to ask it at the time). She said that she thinks it's every Wednesday, and she said she knows they only get stock in once a week. So, if nothing turns up this weekend, I'll try and stop there after work on Wednesday to see if any more pop up.
Also, does anyone want that Mattel Battlecat product box that my order shipped in? (Again, as I said earlier, it's basically the same general type of box that most of their toys/products ship in when going to retailers, etc... it's just really big and heald 12 Battlecats). This thing is pretty big and I have no room to keep it, so I will be breaking it down and throwing it out unless somebody else wants it.

Brandon, did your ToysRus have the Mattel DC Retro-Action toys in yet? They were supposed to be placed next to the DCU/MOTU 2 packs on an endcap and, I think, released at relatively the same time.

I don't specifically recall seeing those, but they may have been there and I just didn't notice. Do you have any pictures of what these look like (I am not sure of what they look like, so maybe I saw them and I'm just not putting 2 and 2 together)? Like I said, I plan to stop there again tonight to check for these 2-packs, so I can look when I am there and see if they have these Retro-action figures. If you can show me some pics and if there are any that you are speicifically looking for, I can pick them up for you if they are there.
Also, they didn't have an end cap (at least not yet). In fact, after finding these, I checked to see if there was an end cap somewhere that I missed, but never found one.
This was actually in an aisle, but it is a whole new, larger DCUC display. Previously (as recently as just a week or two ago since I was there looking for the Hot Wheels Ecto-1), all the DCUC stuff was in a different aisle, and they had very little space dedicated to it (especially the individual figures.. they only had one, single shelf peg dedicated to them).
This new display was much bigger. They had A LOT of space dedicated to individual DCUC figures (almost all of which were duplicates of that Batman that I picked up, and there was one Captain Cold). They had some of the older DCUC 2-packs, like Batman VS Clayface, Superman VS Brainiac, etc.
Again, I'd have to take another look for these figures that you are talking about (I wasn't specifically looking for them, so they may have been there and I just never focused in on them). But let me know what you are looking for (and if you have pics, please post/link them), and I can see if they are there.
