I gotta admit, I like the Meteorbs

Hell, I have no idea why! As a kid, I got Tuskor during holidays in Belgium, and always liked him alot. I never got any others (Mattel didn't release them in Germany), and I always thought that those would be the last items I'd buy, and only to complete my collection.

But then, a seller offered Orbear and Cometroid quite cheap, and I couldn't resist. Last week then, my wife bought me Dinosorb, Gore-Illa, Crocobite and Astro Lion.

And now, I'm addicted! Maybe it's because they're so obscure, and because most He-Fans don't like them (I tend to like "unpopular" MotU toys). Anyway, now I try to get my collection complete, and if everything works fine, I should have Rhinorb soon, as well.

So, am I the only one with some "love" for the Meteorbs?
Or are others out there who collect(ed) them?
Are certain Meteoerbs much more rare and harder to get than others?

Meteorbs are something I though should of been cool but I just knew deep down they weren't....but maybe I'm wrong.

I'd love to see the Four Horsemen do their thing with em'.

I always thought they had potential.

But, I think they seemed like less then worthy of MOTU for some reason.

It's like Come On! Meteorbs? That's it? They had all these years of MOTU stuff to draw upon and that's the next step?

What about some crazy Minotaurs or Centaurs? Make em' big like a bottom that is made like a Battle-Cat and a top that is like a regular figure.

I don't know. It seemed like the idea guy left and the janitor stepped in or something!

Personally, I could imagine that the Meteorbs were created/designed as a stand-alone toyline that originally didn't have anything to do with the Masters. But someone at Mattel then decided to put them on MotU cards to make them sell better.

That sounds like a pretty solid theory.

You're probably pretty close to the mark, I think.

I like the idea of metereorbs. I see it being done in a really cool way given the chance.

Well I sadly have never so much as seen a meteorb in person.

    BUT, I like 'em too.

I think part of it is that I'm also a transformers fan, and they appeal to me in that takara-egg-robo kind of way.

I also love under-appreciated toys by instinct.

And after seeing Cometcat in the She-Ra cartoon as He-Man's outer-space replacement battle-cat, I've been kinda obsessed. Even the animation version was under-executed, and the toy I know would be undersized, but the CONCEPT of a giant space-faring mecha-cat alternative mount for He-man is just too damned cool

And so I like the meteorbs

they are actually from a toyline from bandai japan that was called in tranlation EGG MONSTERS. they were made in all kinds of designs even gamera, ultraman and godzilla as well as dracula, wolfman and the rest of the classic monsters. mattel bought the rights to use a few of the dino molds and put them in the motu world

I guess they are OK...I would've liked them better if they looked more like rocks than Easter Eggs. That really bothered me as a kid...and still does now.

I, too, like the Meteorbs. I currently have 17 total.. the 10 MOTU ones and 7 knock offs. I also have 6 of the 7 knock offs MIP. I'm always looking for more, though.

I am also a member of the minority that like the Meteorbs (of course I'm also part of the minority that like Rio-blast). Of course, just like DestrongerLupus, this might be due to the fact that I'm also a transfan.

I have all of the Meteorbs except for Comet Cat. I remember back in the 80's my mother and I looked all over for a comet cat but we never found him.

I totlayy agree with you on this theory. I'm not a hug e fan of them becasue what does these transforming eggs have to do with the most powerful man in the universe. But they are cool and I should have a few in my hands in a few days.
    Oh well whatever never mind.

maybe it is the transformer collector in me that leads me to like meteorbs as thats my main collection but theres just something about an egg that turns into cute savages beasts

So, what do you folks think who's the rarest Meteorb? It seems to me as if Comet Cat is really hard to come by.

What makes liking the Meteorbs weird for me is, that I never was a big fan of Transformers. I just liked the Action Master line (where only the accessoires transformed) and those huge humanoid shells with robots inside.

LOL, funny that you say that. I just wondered how cool a Meteorbs 10-Pack gift set would have been.

Interesting to hear. I always thought that Bandai released the Egg Monsters later. I still think though that Mattel's Meteorbs originally weren't supposed to be part of MotU until someone thought they'd sell better that way.
