American Idol Season 5: Official Talkback

So the new season starts tonight!
Who else is excited? I am, even tho I am not a huge fan of the first 3 to 4 weeks of audition shows, I'm just glad it's finally back on air!

P.S. If you don't like the show, that's fine, but negative folks and those who don't like it have their own thread HERE thanks

As much as I hated this show from the start, it has grown on me. So yeah, I will watch tonight. Besides, I like the way these folks 'think' they have what it takes to go to hollywood and then get slapped with a dose of reality by the judges.

I can't believe we're the only ones so far *looks around for Rainbow Brite*.I was the same way, I did not like it at first, but it grew on me fast(like 1/3 of the way through the second season). I like it because it is good fo water cooler fodder, and it also brings my family(me and my mom) together for "family" nite. we make dinner and watch it together...

I am a fan as well. I caught it at the very end of Season 1 with the finale then my whole family has tuned in after that. Can't wait to see the auditions especially the bad ones those are always my favorties.

See it is a "family" affair!...See, I'm the opposite tho, I can't stand the bad auditions, or at least not too many of them, I cringe, and even step away for a moment when they are really bad, but I try to return in time to hear SImon's quip...

I love the show, glad it's back on. The first couple weeks are kinda boring and the horrible singing gets old (fast forward to Simon's mean comments) but once it gets down to the voting portion it gets good. I don't vote but I like to pick a favorite and see if they have what it takes. I am no judge but I love music and I was a little choir (school not church) girl growing up so what I like most is hearing someone with true singing talent, even if it is to pop music.

I missed it. I'm gonna tune in next time though, 'cause I like to see what people can do vocally.

    *shakes* why Tally why?
    You must tune in tonight!

I can't remember laughing so much at this show as I did last nite, they have upped the ante I think!

My favorite by far had to be the Britney/Xtina clone and her mother that they kept asking about her "tan" OMG, HILARITY!

She was pretty freakin' horrible. And she looked like a bad Paris Hilton clone to top it all off. I wonder if she'll show up at any of the other audition locations.

Anyway, I thought last night's show was okay, but not as good as in the past. I think I'll be more into it once they get finished with the auditions and get into the actual competition.

Simon was great. His comments were funny this time. I never understand why people get ticked off and complain and cry and cuss as they are exiting yet when they are in with the judges they put thier tail between their legs and walk off stage. You want to talk smack, talk smack to the judges not the cameras.

    Highlights:
    Paris Hilton wannabe
    Guy in Dorothy uniform
    The Wasp guy
The kid's who's grandma had to stick up for him (it's the nerves)

    Low points:
Paula getting Hot by several under age kids
Butchering the **** out of a Freddie Mercury song.
    Randy Jackson
Letting the last guy (jumping fool) go to Hollywood.

I can't believe that people like that girl actually believe that they are the hottest thing going. Of course, it's easy to see where she gets her delusions.

I thought Simon was great last night. I love his comments!

I thought it was hilarious that they let the jumping fool go to hollywood.
One other fave high point for me was the Afam girl going off about Carrie Underwood is not that great, and they let mediocre singers through" then the other chick right after her comes out with a ticket to Hollywood, man that was friggin hilarious! It was timed so well, I honestly thought for a second that it was staged, but I don't think it was...

Just some great stuff last night. The horribleness was just wonderful. The one that just took me over the edge was the guy in the Dorothy outfit. When he came on the screen I just broke out laughing. If people had heard me they would have thought I was crazy.

I thought that tonight's cowboy was great. His personality was wonderful. Just plainly simple and innocent.

My other favorite tonight was the guy/girl thing at the end. Even his face looked feminine.

The cowboy surprised me. He was good but he needs to get way better if he's going to survive. He needs singing lessons badly but he does have potential.

Yeah, I love how he's very naive to the "outside" world. I'm intrigued over the fact that he hadn't left the farm up until recently.

So what did everyone think of Sammy?
I think Simon hit the nail on the head calling him Sylvester Stallone's sister

My favorite singer of the nite was the first girl to make it through, the one who's mom abandoned her and her dad is in prison...she has a very country, yet Pop voice

Kelly Pickler! You gotta remember her name. Pick Pickler! She was so good! She made me tear up when she made it as did that other girl who's grandmother was part of some group who has won some grammy's. She was amazing. I was like They were both so polite and cute. And that military guy was H-O-T! HOT!

The whole Rhonetta thing was just stupid and seemed a bit staged or something. Her going off cause Paula offered her a drink puh-lease.

Thank goodness I am not the only one that teared up, I did for both of those girls. I hope they both make it far in the competition. I think that the Pickler girl is my favorite so far, she seems so nice and she is so pretty. That Rhonetta or whatever her name is bugged me, it seemed very staged to me, and that Michael Jackson guy was so awful sounding I muted him because he just kept singing.
