Biggest Custom I've Ever Done: 5/6 Scale HE MAN

Okay, here's what I did for Halloween. I chose to do the MYP HE MAN as originally intended by the 4H with the broken cross Crest of Grayskull.

    RECIPE:
For the gauntlets, I cut some cardboard to the right size and shape (just barely big enough to slide over my hands). For the left, I glued on four wooden half beads, then covered the rest of both with MAGIC SCULPT. I pressed a marble into it over and over to give the left one that rough, hammered look. Gold paint for the accents in the right gauntlet, and Rust-Oleum Chrome spray paint finished them off.

For the chest harness, I bought two of the widest brown belts I could find, and added the crest and six squares, using the same cardboard and MAGIC SCULPT method I used on the gauntlets. If you look carefully, you can see that I made sure even to replicate the cracks that the FOUR HORSEMEN sculpted into the crest. I used the marble again to rough up the gold field of the crest.

Fake fur from the fabric store made the perfect set of furry underpants, and scraps from that made the base for the boots. An old Ace Bandage sliced down the middle was the perfect length and width for the bootstraps. The sword I got from someone on e-bay, and was the only part I didn't make myself.

    With the Sword of Power.

    A heroic pose.

    Ready for battle!

    Some dramatic lighting.

I'm either crushing something (like the Diamond Ray of Disappearance) or about to clobber SKELETOR.

    Full body shot.

    Evil, beware!

This is great man! I don't know how I feel about the hair, but the costume is AWESOME! Better'n anything I've seen Mattel whip up to put on their models. Nice work!

I need to get me one of those swords...

I agree with Hefty. The outfit is AWESOME! And decent body to put it on. But the hair feels REALLY Flock of Seagulls to me.

    It's all about the base-figure...

    Seriously, great costume!

So that's what a Vahn looks like! The hair might actually be a little bit 80's rocker, then again that might be a good thing when you're building a He-man!

    About the hair...

I know you're just messing with me, but you need to look at Flock of Seagulls again; their hair wasn't just randomly combed over their faces, they each had very sharp and precisely sculpted hairstyles.

Seriously though, there's a reason my hair looks that way. My friend suggested that I just get the $5 bleach kit from Wal-Mart, but I was like, "no, I want to try to get it to look natural, so I'm going to an actual beauty supply store to talk to someone who knows how to do it right."

So I told the beauty supply bimbo that I wanted to be blond, but I wanted it to look as natural as possible (shouldn't be that hard; I used to be a natural blond), and she recommended some products to me.
    I tried them.
    Bright fu**ing red.
It turned my hair FAKER red. I was mildly upset that I'd wasted my money on something that didn't get me even halfway to the shade I wanted.
    .....
So after the third time of going back to that stupid beauty shop (and an attempt with Peroxide) and being sold recommended products that did not lighten my hair enough... I went to Wal-Mart to get the $5 crap my friend recommended. It worked. But my hair was already so fried from the sh** those beauty shop idiots sold me that this was as good as it would get.

P.S: I added a recipe to my first post in case anyone wants to know how I made the costume.

Whoooa... you mean that's not a wig? My sympathies... That's why I never tried dying my hair.

Ha HA! No worries, my hair looks cool now, since I chopped it. Now I've got sort of a Billy Idol thing going.
