I agree that Wesker is cooking up something huge...my question is though; how many games is it going to take before we find out what this is?

Anyways, seeing Sherry Birkin in the tube at the end leads me to believe that one of Umbrella's viruses will play some role in the game (probably T-Veronica since she didn't look mutated), even if the enemies themselves are crazy for a different reason. Who knows, maybe Wesker finally figured out how to keep the viruses in check, and that's what's wrong with the villagers.

They have the engines for the Gamecube remakes so I think they could turn a nice profit if they just redid 2 and 3 on the Wii using the RE4 control scheme.

From what I have read Wesker plays a huge role in the Umbrella Chronicles game so that we have an understanding of where he is/what he is up to when RE5 starts.

Ah he did didn't he. It will be interesting to see what happens in 5...which means I need to get a 360..although with a disappoijting 2009 launch there is no rush.

Yeah remaking 2 and 3 would be cool, it was quite a shock to play looking as archaic as they do. Although Nemises' shock factor got to grate on my nerves. He went from scary to annoying obstical.

Although I am not a huge fan of on rails shooters I am looking forward to Umbrella Chronicles.

I wonder if S, the pharmecutical corporation Wesker has been in contact with plays a part in 5?

A nice piece of positive PR from Sony for once, reporting on how they can justify the Blu-Ray costs after PGR4 developers, Bizarre Creations, ran out of space on a DVD and hut to cut/reduce features.

Bizarre Creations, the developer of PGR4, recently announced on its forums that players would not see different times of day in each racing location, not because it was a problem for the development team, but because it was a problem to fit the texture data on a single DVD.

Another piece of news for Sony that isn't so positive though, is a suit brought by a patent troll company against the Cell processor.

My main issue with this patent troll is as to why they are suing Sony and not, Microsoft as well as Nintendo. Why not also sue IBM and Toshiba who co-developed the chip, and are using them in thier own products too?

The aggresiveness of the suit, particulary for a company that does not make actual hardware, is a bit puzzling. Unless of course they're trying to scare Sony into settling out of court for big bucks.

I was actually looking at the patent and this grabbed my attention;

A high speed computer that permits the partitioning of a single computer program into smaller concurrent processes running in different parallel processors.

Given that each SPU in the Cell actually uses a program that is written and loaded seperatly to perform jobs in parallel (and not processes...there's a is a very big difference); it almost seems as if the suit has no grounds. You could take a VERY broads approach to the term "parition" but then that sort of invalidates the patent itself as it's not exact enoug to explain a unique device. Atleast that's my take on the thing given no legal training

However, I'd say Intel, AMD and IBM would have more to worry about that Sony given that most of thier business is based on multi-core CPU's that fit the patent exactly with the use of threading.

I saw that as well, I found it very interesting that they ran out of space and it makes me wonder if it will happen more often.

Each console I think is handicapped initially though, at least this is whats been said:

-Wii does not have the graphical power to do next-gen on the same level as the 360/PS3, it relies on game controls and "tricks" to get things to look and play good (as is evident by Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl)

-360 does not have enough disc space and will need to rely on the hard drive to run bigger games, which harkens back to its PC roots and essentially makes it easier to create games quickly and share them with the PC for added revenue (ala Gears of War, Lost Planet, and Halo).

-PS3 Cell processor is very difficult to program form thus costing more in development and requiring more time to create an outstanding game, but the Blu-Ray drive is superb and can handle fast load speeds as well as massive disc space that coupled with the built in hard drive should give developers (once they learn how to utilize the Cell) a even playing field.

But I agree, with dismal sales across the world of the PS3 they can use any help pr wise they can get to show that it has potential now and not in a "few years"

Umm...I'll give my thoughts on why I believe that statement to be false, if anybody is happy to read through a very technical explanation.

I think this whole "PS3 is hard to code for" thing is a total myth, having had a go at Cell programming myself on my PS3 linux install. The only thing that is REALLY lacking, is some seriously integrated tools to help ease the pain in the workflow when programming for the Cell.

As I said...if anybody wants a more in depth explanation as to why I think harnessing the Cell isn't so hard, then just say the word, and I will.

And I agree, I think a lot of studios/game media are using it as an excuse so they can find acceptance in porting crap games to the Wii (using PS2 engines and tacked on controls) to make some quick money and at the same time releasing essentially PC games on the 360 and get a nice bonus for doing so exclusively (like Rockstar did by making the GTAIV episode content only 360 exclusive for $50mil).

I don't believe that PS3 myth either. I think M$ created this perception by making it easier to port games between PC and Xbox. But, if you had to develop only for each of the consoles, I believe there would be an equal level of coding difficulty --- the only difference would be the amount of time you'd need to put in to make the graphics better on higher-end systems.

I was looking forward to GTA IV. I guess I'm not too upset since my wallet will have a little more breathing room...there were (and still are) way too many AAA titles to get this holiday season. I kind of wish it Ratchet or some other game. First half of 2008 is looking to be a pretty exciting time for gamers with Metal Gear, GTA, and Mario Kart coming out!

Well, with RB getting Enter Sandman, I'm betting they'll get black album and after content, which I have no desire for. GH3 gets the better song, IMO, and hopefully they'll get some other tracks off the 1st 4 albums........

I hope Activision/EA will host their own online servers, cuz I think everybody I know that's getting GH3/RB are getting them on different systems, and if I wanna play online co-op/battle against my buddy(ies), I don't want it not happening due to the fact he's getting, say the PS2 version of GH3, while I have the 360 version.......

Now that would be nice! Doom 3 looked really nice on Xbox and the Wii can handle that power so coupled with tight controls and the direction of ID it could be a potentially great FPS on the Wii.
