Alright, finally beat MM9 just a moment ago. Careful about saving over your existing save after beating the game though, it restores everything back to 0 with no weapons gained. Oops.

I have to say, that game rocked. And the great story pictures during the credits made me happy.

Hopefully this does well enough to get us a MM10, or MMX9 in SNES style. Or both!

I've actually heard rumors (Unfounded of course) that there may be a MM7 & MM8 redone in the 8-bit engine.

i beat all kinds of stages last night! all i've got left now are magma man, hornet man, and tornado man. tornado man will be the biggest challenge for me because i'm having a really hard time getting past those spinning platforms at the very beginning of the stage! i've managed to at least get to the other bosses but i haven't been able to beat them yet. i really hate the minibosses in magma man's and hornet man's stages...

Oh how I yearn for both of those to happen, especially a new classic X game.

    That would be phenomenal too.

Finally beat Mega Man 9. Great ending indeed. Oddly enough they didn't put the boss masters DLN numbers, and accompanying creator names in the credits.

Just for kicks I checked the online leaderboards. People have beaten the entire thing in 24 minutes already

I told you guys I'm no God

But this is probably my favorite Mega Man game. Just about the right length, the right amount of challenge.

Got Wario Land Shake It, omg this game is so many levels of awesome!!

The levels are straight up 2-D Mario Platforming and not using the wiimote in any stupid way and the animation is on par with Wind Waker in quality (also Professor Layton if anyone remembers the animation in the cutscenes of that game)

There are only 5 worlds though but the game has the appeal of a DS game which means its easy to pick up and you will be trying to beat the "challenges" (aka Nintendo achievements) to get better scores

I definitely recommend this game for at least a rental, its one of the types of games I wish we would see more of on the Wii (along with light gun shooters and RTS games)

Quoted for Truth! Best game of year on Wii if ask me. Secret levels and coin challenges extend this game fairly well. Bring on 2D Metroid and 2D Zelda scrolling please, we need these magical games bad!

Downloaded Cho Aniki off of the Virtual Console just to see what all the fuss was about. It's definitely full of nonsensical weirdness.
It's a competent enough shooter though. If you replaced the artwork with quintessential space ships, and sci fi backgrounds you'd have Life Force.

Anyway the series gets weirder, and weirder apparently with every release.
The original game which is on VC is only slightly weirder than Zombie Nation on the NES. But ZN was a really freaking weird game so this is still pretty weird.
Instead of a ship you pick either this Greek dude with a cape, or this robed chick, and you fly through space shooting at everything from conventional robots, to pint sized Gundams, to Scantily clad busts, to a warped version of Thomas from Shining Time Station, even an Elvis Presley themed ship with a Japanese building on top of it.

They also have these bodybuilders in speedos that work like the option cannons in Gradius, R-Type, etc. etc.

New Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game announced for Wii and DS (Echoes of Time), its some weird hybrid game.

Wii and DS users can play together over WFC using the new Pollux Engine.

    http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/ffcc.jpg

From what it looks like the Wii will be turned into a big DS with the wiimote acting as stylus and d-pad to work alongside DS users

But I am a ***** for FFCC world (loved the GC game, the DS game and the Wii Ware game) so its a must-buy for me

You guys all NEED TO PLAY LOVE

This seemingly innocuous indie game is the coolest game I've seen in a long long time. It's part Super Mario Bros. with it's jumping mechanics, Part Mega Man with it's Dr. Wily inspired level design, Part Spelunker with it's "Search for the exits" objectives.

It's also very retro with Graphics that seem as if they came out of a Commodore 64 platformer.

This is pretty much just as addictive as Peggle ,and it is 100% Free.

Any Windows based PC can run it, and it even works with the Xbox 360 controller very well! Check it out! Seriously!

Really happy Nintendo is announcing some GOOD stuff. It's about damn time. Haven't turned on my Wii since Mario Kart? Can't even remember. LOL. Happy about the storage solution for Wii. Don't understand why it's taken so long if they're just going to allow us to use SD cards. Thought they were going to go the cloud computing route. Happy nonetheless.

I always had a problem with downloadable games being tied down to a specific Wii. It's the main reason why I haven't really purchased games from the shop channel (almost forgot what it's called). Now that I might have a chance to transfer these games to the next Nintendo console and not have to buy it again, I can start buying my favorite VC games.

I've been out of the gaming loop of late, so I'm happy to hear some good Nintendo news and excited about today's press conference!

So, is the DSi basically just an upgraded DS, or is it considered a whole new system?

The lack of a GBA slot stinks for anyone who wants to play the DS Guitar Hero game.

Its a seperate platform, it can still play DS games but its designed for other things

They are not getting rid of the DS Lite, there will be 3 platforms for now DSi,DS,Wii. With the amt of DS and DS Lites out there I doubt Activision will hurt for GH money

There are already rumblings that Vicarious Vision will release a new adapter for the DSi, but no comment is the official word (remember they were the first to fully use the SD card slot in the Wii for GHWT when nobody else said it could be done)

The new engine that Square announced yesterday for their FFCC game allows DS games to be played on the Wii so I am guessing developers are going to get a chance to intergrate all the units together when planning out games now

Nintendo announced earlier today via Famitsu the following games will be re-released with Wii controls (similar to RE4 Wii, not exactly a port but enhanced)

    • Metroid Prime 1
    • Metroid Prime 2
    • Mario Tennis
    • Pikmin 1
    • Pikmin 2
    • DK Jungle Beat

All these games will now be 16:9 Widescreen (I am not sure which ones were on GC release)

Punch Out looks freaking sweet if people have not checked out the video, Famitsu posted online more pics and all the old characters are back (King Hippo, etc)

Monster Hunter 3 Wii looks awesome as well (video embargoed till TGS but youtube clip shows part of the conference)

Not much has been going on, that changed today with this conference and will keep going with TGS where its rumored PS3 will announce 11 new games

Has anyone been able to find these pics? I'm dying to see them.
I put some in the post right above yours, are they not showing up? Here is a link to some, you can actually see it in motion if you watch the video I linked above

    http://www.wiitalia.it/2008/10/02/pu...t-screenshots/

    Here is the debut Trailer

Nintendo of America Conference, game impressions and much of the media for them is embargoed till Monday so we will have to rely on hands-on from various users and possible youtube clips till then

    • Mad World releasing March 2009
    • Club Nintendo coming to America (currently in JP and UK) offers things like SNES Classic Controllers and Game Soundtracks
    • Animal Crossing City Folk November 16th in the US alongside Wii Speak
    • Sin and Punishment 2 coming to US in 2009
    • Punch Out (Wii) coming to US 1st Half of 2009 (probably late Spring/Summer)
    • Metroid Prime 1 and 2 with Wiimote controls
    • Conduit releasing Q1, gave a very impressive in depth demo
    • Rhythm Heaven (DS) 1st half 2009
    • Fire Emblem (DS) 1st half 2009 - has voice chat and is fully online enabled
    • Mario and Luigi 3 (DS) coming to US 2009
    • Nintendo DSi getting retail release in Late 2009 (Q3 or Q4)

The SD Card thing was even more confusing than last night, the announcement seems to imply you can download to the SD card but still need to copy it to the Wii. You can almost already do that anyway?!? What I "think" they are going to do is update the firmware so that it buffers/copies the SD Card stuff into temp memory (like a RAMdisk almost) and rewrite the SD card support so that the interface and speed of the cards is much faster than it is currently.

Vicarious Vision and Harmonix are already able to access the SD Card slot directly with GHWT Wii and Rock Band 2 Wii and since the SD Card thing is coming in the Springs firmware update I would imagine it will take a similar route since both those companies had to approach Nintendo for SD card access in the first place.

    Also some updates from Japan:

Arc Rise Fantasia (RPG for Wii)

    Endless Ocean 2 (Wii)

    Sin and Punishment 2 (Wii)

Weird about the DSi. I think it's cool, but the DS is doing so well, why not invest resources into a nextgen handheld? I can only imagine now seeing games released that only work on the DSi due to camera, SD card, etc.
If Jack Bauer was on Lost, everything would have been solved in 24 hours!

If Jack Bauer was on Heroes, he wouldn't need to save the cheerleader to save the world.

How do we know they are not, there was a report that came out this week estimating the Wii HD would be out in 2011. I would imagine they already have preliminary designs on a "next-gen" DS if you are speaking about more powerful because it could be argued that dual touch screens is "next-gen"

I can only imagine now seeing games released that only work on the DSi due to camera, SD card, etc.
Thats the point, 3 platforms and sooner or later the DS will be phased out and the DSi will probably be a bridge into whatever the actual successor is. If the rumors come true and GB/GBA software begins to be emulated via a DSWare/VC there will be no reason to keep the DS platform (meaning DS Lite) going

The DSi is not launching in America till about Fall/Christmas of 2009, which means it will essentially be 2010 here before we see it start to move into the DS territory and 2011 before it moves enough units to possibly compete with the DS userbase (in actuallity it would probably be 2012 before that happened)

So in 2 years you really want to still be playing DS (as in DS Lite) games and not take advantage of the dual touch screens?

Finally, we're getting a new Punch-Out after all these years!

Anytime Nintendo breaks out a game that doesn't have the words Mario in front of it, it's a good thing.

Hey, I still play original Game Boy games on a regular basis...

Anywho, new Punch Out, new Sin & Punishment (I still need to finish the first one...), Metroid Prime with Wii controls...KICK ASS!!

All they need to do now is throw us a bone about the next Zelda.

It's a good thing all this stuff is coming out next year and beyond, as there are so many games coming out in the next 2 months that I want that I can't even think about wanting to buy anything else for a while...

And I don't think anyone has mentioned this, MM9 has pretty much overshadowed everything for a week, but Lego Batman is absolutely phenomenal!! By far my favorite of the Lego games.

Wow... Sounds like some GREAT new stuff is on its way from Nintendo!

It was certainly about time they announced some stuff, been awful quiet from them lately.
Punch-Out looks like a given purchase, but obviously we should wait until we know a bit more about it. Seems like yet another game that gets you off your saggy butt and up on your feet for some action tho!

    Wonder if it'll be MotionPLus?

Did anyone else get a Little Big Planet beta code? I signed up at a few places, and was lucky enough to get one on Monday. I just got 2 more emails, and now I have 2 extra! What should I do with them?

But I've been playing the beta all week, and so far it's pretty amazing! I can't wait to pick up the whole game!!!
