Just to update everyone on the DCU chase figures, according to people in the thread I linked with pictures of Wave 1, the enormous amount of stock of classic Red Tornadoes and no appearance of the modern one has made many people believe that the chase was switched to the modern version (which makes me very happy.) Also, the rumor is that chase Penguin with the robotic Penguin Commando has been cancelled.

By the way, everyone might want to check their local comic shops, as the people in that thread are also saying that the guys in their shops told them to expect wave 1 in shops next week.

I hope when Mattel does a DCU wave with brown Man-Bat and Cyborg Superman, they remember that great redeco Mr. Freeze that I never saw. I can't even get the thing on eBay.

I went in the action figure section at Wal-Mart yesterday for the first time in ages just for the heck of it. And I was shocked that the prices have gone up so much. I didn't see any of these figures but Marvel legends were $10 a piece. Sweet Jebus!

Move to the UK, they are $20 each here
I doubt we'll even have them imported officially much longer at that price and will have to resort to buying them online for $30 a pop.

hasbros is doing the legends line, which I am not real happy about as none of the figures really fit with each other they look like they are all from different lines. Same thing with the current Spiderman line, and I would have liked the Black Cat but she is the size of a Gi Joe.

And Wal-mart usually sells under MSRP by about 1-3 dollars (usually you can find it somewhere on the back).

The only one I would really want in this wave is Modern Red Tornado and Metamorpho. I don't want Metamorpho enough to buy all of them, especially not another damned Batman figure!

Yeah I am not a big fan of build a figures. I think this line (under its yearly name change with promises not to release that one wave of the same figure that kills the line) and marvel legends didn't realize why the first build a figures marvel legends put out worked. The reason it worked? People wanted at least 75% of the figures in the wave and were willing to buy the other 25% to get the build a figure.

The first two waves, I might pick up a Red Tornado and the second one I will try to get Harley. First wave I don't care about Orion, Batman I would pick up if it was to complete the wave, same with Penguin and Etrigan really. If they hadn't put Orion and either Penguin or Etrigan in the wave and replaced them with figures I cared a bit more about* I would have been willing to pick up the whole wave. Willing, I am running out of space and that has a lot to do with my more limited action figured collecting then anything else.

They are doing better with waves that aren't just focused on two characters (this was partially DCs fault though). And I could see many fans actually picking up every figure in this wave, regardless of who the BAF is.

*any of the Teen Titans, a good Green Arrow, one of the Birds of Prey, Hawkman or Hawkgirl, one of the other Green Lanterns, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Stargirl, and probably several others I am just not thinking of right now.

I wouldn't mind a new Supergirl to be done, the last one released was I think very limited and I think they could do better a second time around. Maybe have a variant of her classic pre-COIE costume. Also a much needed trio is a re-release of the rare Birds of Prey 3 pack. Not nesicarrily a outright re-release but individualy.

Because the FP here is the best performing store out of the chain so they decided to make it a super store.
It's down buy Bella Pasta and Pizza Hut in the town centre.

That doesn't help me much but I guess I'll find it You know whether they're going to have funny opening hours after xmas?

I find it hard to beleive the old little FP was performing well. They had less and less to look at every time I went down there for the last few years. I thought they might even close down. I guess the old shop has now closed, obviously?

Nope the old store stays open as an outlet store for a while. They have crazy sales too!
Performance is based on what they get in and what they shift and that store performed the best out of the non super stores.

This line is going to be my favorite for as long as Mattel cranks them out and keeps the Four Horsemen on board. I love their similar style, the sensible articulation without going overboard, and the BAFs. I would be buying all of the unique characters anyways, so the BAF is just a bonus for me. It makes these figures well worth the $10.

I hope if MOTU ever makes an action figure comeback, Mattel keeps the Horsemen on board and they resemble these DCU Classics in terms of quality paint apps, sculpts, cardbacks (mine come later today, but I've read online that each character has a neat lil' bio on the back! He-Man and crew needed these...) and more importantly- where some of the MOTU figs really lacked- the articulation dept. I'm looking at the 2002 figures on my desk right now and thinking "Oh, if only they'd relaunched just a few years later..."
Though I kind of think that 2002 MOTU helped pave the way for what the Horsemen have been able to do with the Mattel DC lines. I'd like to see it come full circle for He-Man, you know?

Well, these have been showing up recently at retail with all the post X-Mas resets. I've got Orion, Red Tornado & Etrigan coming to me from friends that grabbed them, and I'm waiting to find Bats & Penguin at Target to use a gift card I got for X-Mas.

Looks like the Tornado variant won't be out until the 1st wave revision cases start shipping. And I'm not sure if the Penguin variant is still coming or not.....

I saw them at Target the other day. Very cool. I would have bought the set if they had had the Demon.

I was in TRU last weekend and they got a bunch of the newer ones in. They had a bunch of clayface and catwoman, so I got one of both. Also got a Batgirl, Two-face and a Joker a couple of days ago. Didn't seem to have a problem with them, but maybe I just got real lucky.

Has a normal Batman ever come out, though? I've never seen one. And what's the deal with Man-bat and Mr. Freeze? I'm dying to get those two but can't find anything on them. Never seen a Mr. Freeze anywhere.

The 1st wave (late 2005/early 2006) had a classic grey/blue Batman, and the third wave had the same figure with some extra batarangs. (He was also released in the 2-pack with the Barbara Gordon Batgirl) I think the wave with Cassandra Cain Batgirl/Two-Face/Camo Bane had a regular grey/black Batman as well....

There was a Freeze released in the 3rd wave. (fall 2006) But he was just a re-tooled Freeze from the 2003 4H Batman line. There were pictures on the cardbacks of the Two-Face wave saying another Freeze was supposed to be released this past summer, but it got scrapped. Man-Bat has only been released in the white deco at SDCC/WWC 2007, with a clear chase variant. There's been rumors that the brown Man-Bat might make it into one of the last 2 waves of the DC Classics this year, but no confirmation yet.....

    Small correction:

The wave 1 batman was a rerelease/retool of the old Batman line batman. Wave three was a new sculpt. That one was in the 2 pack with batgirl and was repainted gray/black for the Two-Face wave.

    Otherwise, that is all correct.
