I went to TRU last weekend and I pulled 6 figures off the shelf that were cut open for the CnC piece. Totally upsetting if someone wanted to buy one of those... at $16 a figure...

As someone born in '85, I was a huge Johnny Quest fan (both classic and "Real Adventures") since it had that pulp adventure feel I've always loved. It was on all the time on Cartoon Network and USA before that.

Dr. Kain, thanks for the heads-up that there are no QC issues with this wave. If other people have similar findings, it will get me back into DCUC.

GO FORWARD. Please support the Christopher Reeve Foundation by purchasing a set of Superman tags at www.ChristopherReeve.org

If nine hundred He-Man.Org members get eaten by Thundercats fans, but neither of them has a toyline, does it still count as a fan movement?

See, even though I want a specific version of a character like the CoIE version of Mera the 2006 verison of Shadow Lass, Aquaman with a hook, I'll take whatever version they give us. They are the same character, and I'd rather have any version than no version at all.

And why do you only want how they appeared before 85? Some characters looked terrible before the 90s or even before 00.

Because that was the "glory days," for DC, Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Satelite Era JLA, The New Teen Titans, the Super Powers toy line and of course, Super Friends... I still read comics today, but that was the "lightning in a bottle" period for me. Nothing will ever be that "classic" or iconic for me. Purely childhood magic/nostalgia. That's also the reason I want characters as they appeared at that time, like Captain Boomerang.

Actually in his case, it's not even really a matter of "preferring" this costume over the one the toy is wearing, it's a matter of this being the only costume I really KNOW... other than Identity Crisis, I've never SEEN the trechcoat/beanie hat costume, so that's why I don't like it.

The same thing goes for Marvel, too, by the way. This was around the time of the first Secret Wars, which was like Crisis at DC, kind of my high point. Not to mention Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends. In fact, with Marvel I go even further back, because a lot of my favorites from them are from the 70s, like the original Spider-Woman, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage in the yellow shirt, Disco Dazzler and the Cockrum designed X-Men. Once again, I kept reading Marvel books into adulthood (I just dropped all of them in the past year, though...) and I mean, books from both companies have been great and I've thoroughly enjoyed them, but as far as toys and collectibles, I prefer to focus on that time period from my childhood.

And it helps me cut back on the sheer number of toys I buy, so that's a plus.

Well they made the modern version of Star Sapphire, so I don't think it'll be too hard to make Phantom lady

I did read in the Fwoosh's Q&A that apparently we will see the New Gods get some more representation at SDCC. Here's what I'm hoping for:

The only thing that would make that cooler is if they inserted a voice chip with Ed Asner doing her voice

Wonderboy, read the newest Flash series (HCVol2is called Death of the Rogues), that is where Capt Boomerang has the beanie and coat.

I'm slighlty confused about the AFI poll- are these definite figures or fan wanted ones?

I ask because Stargirl is on the AFI page and I know shes already been confirmed, can someone please clarify?

I'm really hoping for Jay Garrick Flash though- and a classic Vigilante would be cool to

Not really related to W18, but I found Batman Legacy Joker today at a comic shop, and for only $15, which is less than the normal retail store.

Anyway, he is pretty awesome. At first, I was going to just swap the heads with the DCU one, but after opening him, the head is pretty cool despite the eyes looking downward. Not a fan of that, but the sculpt is excellent and seems far more detailed than the regular one's head. I also love the coat, which is the way I have wanted Joker for a while, and I am not sure why. He just looks cooler with a coat on to me rather than the normal jacket. However, I do think Mattel could have improved this figure by providing us a choice, having him come with both the coat and the jacket and letting them be interchangeable so we can have the best of both worlds. Nevertheless, here are some pictures I took:

Swamp Thing is enormous, but I still love him. He'll be able to take on the equally enormous Grundy. Wood vs. plant!

I wish. In fact, I hope Mattel does a Matty exclusive accessory pack for this Joker that comes with a hat, that color suit jacket, and some gun. I am sick of the one issue homages. I love the cane, and I love the laughing fish, but Joker is a homicidal maniac, and he needs some freaking guns in order to be one. At least I want his long barrel gun and a standard pistol.

So check this out...what say you DCUC collectors?

    http://www.mattycollector.com/store/...ctID.233184300

For 2012, subscriptions are available for Voltron®, Ghostbusters™ and Masters of the Universe Classics. Please read the details for each subscription, then return to the main Subscriptions page to make your selection.

    DC Universe: Club Infinite Earths
    Ghostbusters: Club Ecto-1
    MOTUC: Club Eternia
    Voltron: Club Lion Force

    Club Infinite Earths

With the all-new 2012 Club Infinite Earths, the DC Universe becomes part of the Mattel subscription family for the first time. While you'll still find 6" figures at retail, MattyCollector.com will be the only place to get fan-demanded and true collector characters!

This club is 100% the result of fan requests. In order to make it happen, we need to reach a certain number of subscriptions. Throughout the subscription sign-up period, the thermometer will be updated to show how close we are. If we don't hit the goal, then we won't be able to offer the club. But if we do (and we really hope we do), then the club's a "go" and you can look forward to the ultimate DC Universe toy collecting experience!

And in a MattyCollector.com first, the club-exclusive figure is going to be chosen by you, the fans! Just click here to vote on the figure you want us to make should the club go forward.

So, DC Universe fans, the fate of Club Infinite Earths is truly in your hands. Spread the news to your fellow collectors so we can make it a reality!

How Club Infinite Earths Will Work

Purchase a membership to Club Infinite Earths for $30 and, should the club go forward, you’re guaranteed to receive all of the official club figures released during the year. There will be 9 monthly 6" figures and 3 "oversized" figures (one shipped approximately each quarter). You’ll also receive the club-exclusive for 2012, to be revealed following the close of voting in our poll.
Every month starting approximately April 2012, you'll be automatically shipped the Club Infinite Earths figure. About every quarter, you'll also be shipped an "oversized" figure. You'll be billed as figures ship. Figures revealed to date are NAME and NAME.
Figures will begin shipping approximately two (2) business days prior to the official on-sale date.
Exact figures will be announced approximately one to two months before each on-sale date.
The special club-exclusive figure will be shipped sometime around the second quarter of the year. The figure is included in the cost of the membership ($30), however applicable shipping and taxes/fees will be charged at the time of shipment.
Special convention items, reissues, weapons packs, stands and other accessories are not included. Mattel reserves the right to offer those and any other DC Universe items, and reissue non-subscription items. Subscriptions will not include any additional items beyond those listed here.
All figures EXCEPT the club-exclusive figure will also be available at MattyCollector.com around the 15th of the on-sale month without the membership. You will have the option to buy additional figures, but availability isn’t guaranteed and the purchase limit is ten (10) per person.
The only way to purchase the club-exclusive figure through Mattel will be to buy a membership to Club Infinite Earths! This item will not be sold separately on MattyCollector.com.
For 2012, subscriptions are available for DC Universe, Ghostbusters™, Masters of the Universe Classics and Voltron®. You may buy as many subscriptions of any kind and in any combination you like and they'll all ship together when purchased in the same transaction!
    About Club Infinite Earths Memberships

Memberships are available for purchase from 7/22 at 2 p.m. PT through 8/5 at 2 p.m. PT here on MattyCollector.com.
Once the enrollment period has ended, memberships cannot be purchased until the following year.
Memberships are $30 each, plus the cost of the club figures, shipping, and applicable taxes/fees. The club-exclusive figure is included in this $30 membership fee, however shipping/taxes/fees are additional.
Should the club go forward, the total commitment for 2012 will be $255, plus applicable fees/taxes and shipping (varies depending on your location and the shipping method you choose). You will be shipped 9 Club Figures (9 @ $15 = $135), 3 "oversized" figures (3 @ $30 = $90) and the Club-exclusive figure (included in $30 sign-up fee = $30) for a total of $255 plus shipping/taxes/fees.
You may purchase as many memberships as you want during the on-sale period. There are no limits.
Once purchased, memberships may not be cancelled.
When you purchase a membership, your credit card will be pre-authorized for $40, which is the cost of the membership plus the first month’s figure. Pre-authorization means that the money is reserved from your available credit card balance, but you are not actually charged until the first figure ships. For more information about pre-authorizations, please visit the Shop FAQs.
Beginning with the first shipment, your credit card will then be automatically charged approximately five (5) calendar days prior to the official on-sale date of each figure. For more information about how subscription renewals work, please visit our Fan Forums.
Applicable taxes and fees may apply depending on your location and are billed with products. Please visit the Shop FAQs for more information about domestic and international taxes and fees.
Shipping costs apply and will vary depending on the destination, weight of the package and the shipping method chosen. These costs are billed with products.
All subscriptions purchased in a single transaction will ship together when shipped to the same "ship to" address.
Should your card expire during the membership period, you’ll be able to update any credit card information. You can also change your billing and/or shipping address.
Other figures purchased outside the membership are charged and shipped separately.
Club Infinite Earths subscription sign-ups will only be available through August 5th at 2 p.m. PT, so get yours now! Return to the main Subscriptions page to make your selection.

Sounds good, but I'll wait and hear some details from the panels on what is planned for this. If it will include anything other than DCUC, I'm out. Can't commit to something with absolutely zero details. However, if it's purely DCUC, count me in!

Does this mean DCUC will be leaving retail? It might as well, since new figures are totally MIA on the shelves - at least, they are anywhere I go.

It says yes, but certain fan demand figures will available online and sub only.

I think the aim is keeping characters only the diehards want online and out of stores. While more mass appeal characters will be found in stores.

Hmmmm. It's an interesting development, to say the least. I am glad to see DCUC given another shot, after not doing well initially on Matty. Judging by the fact that two Mercuries have been camped out at my store for months, I tend to think this may be the way for Mattel to finish up the Metal Men and if I had to guess, I'd bet that Elasti-Girl from the Doom Patrol will be one of the deluxe figures. (I don't know if they plan on making Mento or The Chief, but if they do, I bet they're part of this club.) The Legion is also one of the properties that I could seeing doing better through this route. I would guess we'll see them cutting back on these more obscure characters at retail and shifting that line to more of an "All Star" line. Hopefully, for me, that doesn't mean a shift toward a more contemporary line. There are a handful of modern characters I still want, Batwoman, Saint Walker, Vixen, Dr. Light, Renee Montoya as The Question... maybe a few more, but like I said before, I'm more of a 70s-80s guy. OR on the flip side, will those be the kinds of characters that will pop up through the subscription club rather than retail? I know "girls don't sell" in action figure lines, so maybe this is a better path for them. A lot of question marks, still. Eagerly looking forward to updates, though!

EDIT: Mr. Yuck, when I click the link, all I get is the order page which isn't active and none of this info. Can you post a link to where it says "To vote click here?" (If it's active.) I wanted to see who the options are for the first figure.

That's my concern that we see more female and certain lesser known characters end up online. For example I could see them going either way with Saint Walker, a character who has been in demand but may not sell that well at retail.

I have no clue how well it will go over, the line is a cherry pick line for most people I think. I wouldn't mind see them making the CnC figures deluxe, and I wouldn't mind getting some figures online since they can be very hit or miss at retail.

Maybe that's why they are being so cautious with it? I hope more news comes out before Friday when they go on sale! I'd like to think this is a positive move, allowing Mattel to fill in teams like the Metal Men and Doom Patrol and other obscure choices that may not work at retail. But I think we all want to know what we're jumping into before committing. I'd hate to invest and every figure be a different colored Lantern or something!

I had a thought, maybe the first large figure will be Lobo? They offered him in the JLU line on Matty, so maybe they'll do it again? I know there are lots of fans and he's a big enough name that he could get people on board.

Except that he was already the 1st DCUC SDCC exclusive figure. I would hope that this online sub would stay away from the redos, and give us more obsure characters w/more accessories that would normally pegwarm at retail. Especially at a premium price + tax/shipping, they sure as hell better not try to offer up the "modern" Red Tornado variant that never materialized in Wave 1 or a Super Powers repainted Penguin....

Give me the Crimson Avenger, Warlord or Sgt. Rock! (Or at least FINALLY pull the trigger on Poison Ivy/Huntress)

I bet we get Granny Goodness/Metron this way...

If it turns out to be a "We already made all this movie GL merchandise but the stores already have GL on clearance and don't want any more, but we've got to do something with it" line, no thanks....

Seriously, what does this mean for the retail line? Will it become just the star characters over and over again and only matty will have new and/or obscure characters?

12 figures a year is less than we were getting, but I guess if DCUC is doing badly then yeah, go that way. I still hope that when Man of Steel comes out that we get a ton of Superman characters like Jor-El, the Krypton Man, modern Superboy, Zod, Faora, and Kru-El, Fine Brainiac, Myxplk, the Terminator sized Metallo, etc. If it's how I can get Granny Goodness, I'm all for it too. But it does feel like a bad sign for the line's future (well, a bad sign combined with a last hope--I just didn't know we were going to the hospital).

Skullface, I actually didn't even realze Lobo had been done! But you're probably spot on about Granny Goodness and Metron. The New Gods are another property that would benefit from this sort of line. The repaints are another possibility, although I think Penguin needs to be resulpted not just repainted. He needs to be much fatter!
