Evil Seed - Artichoke anyone?

Hey everybody, I've been going through a lot of my older files lately and I happened across an Evil Seed pic I did up late last year (I think...) I didn't draw the line art but it'll give you a good glimpse into how I interpret a sketch to inks (and then some flats and shadows.) It's not a HUGE difference by any means but it was a fun practice piece.

Here's the original (I "think" I got it off of Busta's blog... but I don't remember. Sorry) and my inks, etc.

Ric, I really like your stuff and the way you color is great in a simple way. I love it. If we ever get the current stuff off our plates, I'd love to have you color a piece from my collection...

Wow man, that is GREAT!

I love Evilseed, especially cause I've always been fascinated by humanoid plants.

And green is my favorite color---the shades you chose for him are awesome, man...I'd love to have that framed on a wall!

Guy, learn your VEGGIES! That's an Artichoke! An artichoke I tells ya! Plus it's a very cool picture of the original Evil seed. The 200X version is Asparagus....

Nice job with the ink and colors. About how long did it take you? Do you do a shadow layer and then color (multiply) over it? I always like the clean look of your colors. Reminds me of vector art.

Ric, You'really made Evil Seed pop out. Love the Amazing colors. Is this how he was supposed to look without the cape on. I think its a briliant idea.

keke.. that looks really fantastic man. Definatly a huge difference between the lineart and colors there.

Yay! Classic Evil Seed! Awesome work. I didn't care for the MYP Evil Seed... a bit Generic looking... looked like a Carnage style symbiote or somthing. But this is the real deal.

I didn't design him... the original sketch is the OFFICIAL FILMATION design (I think anyway... maybe Busta can fill us in.) All I did was ink and colour him (and add a few more details, etc.)

It's not how I pictured him either...

Btw, what are "flats"?

Flats are the unshaded colors your put down when you begin to color. The very base colors of the picture.

Ha! I always thought that Evilseed's head looked like an artichoke. Glad someone else saw that too. Pass the melted lemon butter, please!

I like the idea of him having a lot of vines instead of a regular body under that robe. It makes perfect sense for a plant villain. At least, one who's not a mutant-plant-duck.
