Adam & Cringer - MANGA STYLE

Hi! I'm a mangaka--I have my own manga graphic novel (Secrets of Sorcerers) and I'm thinking of making a fan webmanga of MotU. The image above is my manga version of Prince Adam and Cringer.

I based Adam off the 2002 version, but made him less muscular. I also thought it would be cute to make Cringer little...it's sets him apart from Battle Cat even more, and what is cuter than Prince Adam carrying around his pet kitty?! hee hee.

The background I just came up with as an after-thought and didn't put much work/thought into it.

Added 2 more sketches, shown below at post #19 of Teela and He-man.
Added 6 more sketches, shown at post #36.

Oh that cringer is a really cute cat! Welcome to board Ztar! I'm not a big fan of manga(style) but that picture makes me easily smile and turns good mood.

That's pretty cool. Let's see their alter egos - He-Man and Battle Cat.

When I saw "manga" in the thread title I thought it was going to be crap, but wow, I really like it. I would love to see more MotU stuff from you (hint: Skeletor, Evil-lyn).

It's a really great piece, and it would be even better with a couple of smalll changes. It's great that Cringer's small, but he looks like a house-cat, instead of a baby tiger. I'd like it better if he was a baby tiger.
And Adam's left foot looks weird.

This is SOOO cool, and so what Japan would probably do w/ MOTU

    BRILLIANT!

Yes this looks really great and different to what we are used to seeing around here. I hope you do indeed end up making that MOTU site with more MOTU pics.

    I love this.
Cringer looks adorable. A complete contrast to Battle Cat.
I don't hate manga as some do. I actually like the style.
    Hope to see more.
    Keep it up.
Fictional characters are just that. Fictional. They have no personality or free will of their own.
Writers and editors mold them to their own wants and needs.
All we as the audience and fans can do is pick and choose our favorite interpretation and ignore the rest.

Adam's cute but Cringer is even cuter!!

    Some Sketches

Wow! Thanks guys. I'm so glad it's received a positive reaction.

Here's some sketches I did of He-man and Teela. I don't really like the sketch of He-man, but I liked this particular try at Teela. I'd probably be able to fix the flaws in He-man when I ink it--which I do in Illustrator with my tablet so it's easy to resize and adjust things.

    Teela headshot:

    He-man and Teela:

I'm kinda picking and choosing what I like from the original series and what I like from the 2002 version; I like what they did with He-man in 2002, but I prefer the original Teela design to the 'pony-tailed' 2002 Teela.

    UM WOW!
The image you did of Adam & Cringer is superb!
I also like how you handled the size of He-man & what looks like a somewhat "Five Star Stories" inspired Classic Teela!
But what impresses me the most is your "Secrets of Sorcerers" webpage! I love the virtual tankoban setup & you are very talented at screen tones!

Nice work, I hope you do make a Masters Manga! I'm sure you would do a wonderful job judgeing by what you have already accomplished!

I've always wanted to do something like this myself & call it HE-MANga!

Nice work. I feel that Adam looks a bit too feminine and I Im not feeling your He-Man. I think he can go a bit buffer and masculine.

I too think it's all a bit too feminie but then that is the style so on that level these are on the money.

I dont know how I missed his before, but I have to say you've really done a great job with the style transition. I would never have imagined how MOTU would look like, Manga-Style but this is Fantastic.

And its great you basedyour Teela concept from the classic.
