Live-action or cartoon or CGI movie?

I think the only reason why more people don't jump on the CGI bandwagon is because, those movies don't do too well.

Or some people, like me, like more "old school" movies with mostly real actors, and realistic surroundings. Beowulf style is too cartoony to me, no matter how cool it might look in someone elses eyes.

Beowulf was still a costly failure. CGI animation at the end of the day is not always cost effective.

Mattel wants live action, they want their own version of Transformers and GI JOE now. That simple.

I think it should be live-action. Animation, to me, would feel like a cop-out, the obvious choice. We know that with the right creativity and resources, this kind of thing can be done in live-action no problem.

For me it's that a pure CGI movie *like Beowulf* is just another cartoon but with better graphics and I am simply not interested in another cartoon unless it continues the MYP series.

But chances are that we'll have the wrong creativity. I'd rather have a good CGI movie that gets it 85% right than a live action movie that gets it 85% wrong and tries to fudge it's mistakes.

CGI might not have the best track record, but I think we'd have a better CGI MOTU movie than with a live action version. I just feel as though Hollywood would fail miserably in translating to a live action movie.

I would love to see this movie in live action. I just want to see a scene with Castle Grayskull sitting there in the mist while dark clouds pass by behind it. Live action with CGI would be awesome!!!

I would prefer live action but after TF:ROTF and G.I.Joe I have little faith it would be done well so I think I would rather see an animated direct to DVD film.

After the colossal failure of Mars Needs Moms I don’t think we’re going to be seeing too many motion-capture films from now on. Another reason why live-action is the only way to go, IMO.

though i can definitely see the appeal of going all CGI. think about it: MOTU is mostly ultra-muscular dudes running around, scantily clad in barbarian garb that is bright and colorful. doing that in live action presents some issues- unless you're willing to compromise somewhere.

there's a lot of good actors, but not many who can be as physically imposing as your average MOTU character. there's plenty of huge buff dudes, but not too many are very good actors. some of that would be resolved by keeping the speaking parts among henchmen minimal, but still.

the costumes may have some trouble translating to live action. in CGI, no compromises have to be made. anything and everything can be done.
