You can't really go wrong with Conan.
I just hope they do figures (who am I kidding, there'll be figures, I just hope they don't suck).
I can't wait.

I'm actually pretty sure that is Arnold, maybe an un-used publicity shot, just looking at the musculature in the forearm, and it's definately the same sword from the Arnold movies:

Hmmm... it's difficult to find pics of Arnold as Conan besides the DVD cover photo, but I think this on shows the resembelence pretty well:

That sword is used for a lot of the recent Conan stuff like busts and video games. It means nothing other than it being a cool prop. I own that exact same sword btw!!
Releasing as poster like this is standard practice when a movie is given the go ahead and the studio wants to generate some interest. There would be no original stuff to draw from this early in the game. Just look at the early Iron Man stuff. They just got some big dude in for the pose with that familiar sword just for now.
I would be extremely surprised if that was Arnie's arm as Arnie has licence over his likeness and he has nothing to do with this film.

Conan has jumped in popularity in recent years.
he's got a great comic series going, a great Conan videogame was released this past week, this film is coming, there's an animated film in the works, and McFarlane released two waves of figures, followed by Marvel Toys releasing a ML-Styled one.
which is all kinds of cool:

Okay, I was a bit bummed yesterday -- thinkin' that Millenium were gonna pull a Wonder Woman on Red Sonja and put that movie on the 'back burner' -- Well, I came across this on the Red Sonja message boards and it appears to be from one from one of the executive producers.
We have our actress, and I am stoked! I championed this particular actress and now we have her! So is perfect, has the right edge to her persona, and she is going to look smokin hot in the costume.
I admit this is a tease, because I can't tell you who she is until the official announcement.
but suffice to say - we appear to have the perfect attachment
peace!

I had been looking all over. but I could never find him.
everybody told me to check Meijer, but there aren't any around here.
yesterday I had to go to Columbus Ohio on business, and there was one along the way, so I popped in, and sure enough, they had 'em.
Am I the only one who had no idea there was a new Conan movie coming out?
Still, sounds pretty cool. I'll definitely check it out!

Personally I like Jessica Biel for the role - either for Red Sonja or teela, Megan fox no thanks she doesn't have the presence and I agree with you on her looks.
anyway can't WAIT for this conan movie - I want a damn 360 for the game! ARGH I hate being broke, I'm falling behind on all the stuff I love I'm two waves short of stactions now, anyway - I hope they do Conan justice this time around - I like the arnie flick well enough but it wasn't very true to conan overall.

This looks good. And there's a Red Sonja movie coming out too? Awesome! I just hope she isn't wearing what she wears in the comics.

'Conan' unsheathed at Lionsgate
Dirk Blackman, Howard McCain set to rework script
By Jay A. Fernandez and Carolyn Giardina
Aug 13, 2008, 01:00 AM ET
Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain are trying to corner the market on sword-swinging fantasy adventures.
Blackman and McCain have been hired to rework the script for "Conan," as in the barbarian, for Lionsgate. And the writing team's action-adventure screenplay "Amazon," an epic about female warriors to which Scarlett Johansson has been attached, is sailing out of turnaround toward Lionsgate as well, with Neal Moritz and his Original Film banner coming on to produce once the deal is completed.
Director searches are under way for both.
CEO and president of Paradox Entertainment Fredrik Malmberg is producing the "Conan" feature along with Boaz Davidson, Joe Gatta and Avi Lerner of Millennium Films.
Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer ("Sahara") wrote earlier drafts of the film, a potential resurrection of the classic warrior created by Robert E. Howard in dozens of pulp stories published in the 1930s. In 1982, Oliver Stone and John Milius wrote a bloody adaptation, which Milius also directed, that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"We all want this movie to go into production as soon as possible," Malmberg said. "It's a fast-tracked movie. Lionsgate felt the process was enhanced by having a second team come in and do a script."
Much like with "Batman Begins," the studio hopes to redraw the Conan feature universe to produce a new, post-millennial franchise. So rather than remake the Schwarzenegger bloodfest, the writers have gone back to Howard's original stories to create a $100 million R-rated origin film, the largest production to date for Lionsgate and Millennium.
"Fans expect (these types of movies) to be more true to the source material," Malmberg said. "There's no reason there couldn't be a Conan movie every two years. He's almost like Batman: He's a dark hero. He's a hard hero. He has to be badass, but we also have to like him."
Blackman and McCain, repped by ICM and Circle of Confusion, recently co-wrote the science fiction actioner "Outlander," which McCain also directed. It screens Friday at the Locarno film festival. They also are credited writers on "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," due out next year.
I'm not really impressed by the creative staff but lets see who they get as director!
100million ain't too bad I suppose. What other films have that sort of budget?
Oh and I perked up a bit when I read about Amazons!!![]()

Yeah... it would perk you up, wouldn't it *wink wink**nudge nudge*
I loved the Conan movies and even Red Sonja... camp or no camp... sword and soccery at their best if you ask me. And the sound tracks of the Conan movies... simply mesmorising. So I am looking forward to this one when and if it comes outAnd I really really hope it lives up to the previous movies.

I've been waiting years for another conan movie. I really hope this happens, and that it does the character and his world justice. I love the Milius film, but honestly, the Conan we got in that movie wouldn't last 2 minutes against the literary Conan.
Is that the one I sent you when that guy you ordered it from wouldn't ship to the UK?Originally Posted by Eamon
