Without KISS in there the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a sham...

I'm surprised Depeche Mode hasn't made it in... then again, I'm not. There's possibly too much industry biase against them...
If Jack Bauer was on Lost, everything would have been solved in 24 hours!
If Jack Bauer was on Heroes, he wouldn't need to save the cheerleader to save the world.
yep, no KISS, no Hall. I've been there, behind the scenes, in 97' and mentioned that to the staff. It was State DJ day or something like that. They used to have a wall you could write on if you used their booth to do an on air show and i wrote that KISS needs to be in the hall even back then. I'm sure that was painted over. The guy that was showing us all around was a douche anyway. And to make it worse, this was all during a big Pink Floyd exhibit. I HATE PF!!! But, the Hall has turned commercial and biased so no surprise.
No Metallica, no KISS, no GnR?
This is an outrage!
Isn't one of the rules of induction that you have to have had a career of at least 25 years? I don't think Metallica or GnR are eligible yet...probably another 3 or 4 years, IIRC? (When they get started..mid-eighties, right?)
I think Madonna's induction blurs the line between rock and pop, but honestly, I'm not sure where the line actually is to make the distinction (and there's no denying her pop culture impact.)
As for Kiss, well...I'm sure they'll get in eventually.
"That's very interesting...but silly." - Man-At-Arms
Only Rock N Roll and the music that inspired them SHOULD be in the HOF
After all Madonna is NOT Rock N Roll

DYNASTY AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
http://www.dynastymastersuniverse.com
It has to be 25 years since artists first release. Metallica's first album "Kill 'Em All" came out in the middle of 1983. Thus 2009 was their first year of eligibility for induction into the Hall of Fame. Guns N' Roses won't be eligible for induction until 2013.
As far as my opinion of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. it's a joke! A HUGE joke! The fact they induct hip hop and rap artists is ridiculous!! 1950's doo *** groups, or early influential blues artists are a completely different story. But RAP and HIP HOP!?!
Any so called "Hall of Fame" that passes up Black Sabbath for induction seven times before finally selecting them is beyond me.
James Hetifeld did the most metal and rock and roll thing ever during his induction speech when he named off all the bands that they believe should be inducted. Apparently the suites behind the Hall didn't appreciate it too much and kind of saw it as a huge middle finger towards them. That list was kind of hard to dispute - Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, KISS, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rush and Motörhead.
The fact that they'll induct Run DMC before inducting Deep Purple or Motörhead is mind blowing.![]()
Metallica also mentioned UFO and made fun of Jethro Tull at the press conference that announced the 2009 inductees. Each member of Metallica was asked who they want to see inducted, and this was their response:
Motorhead, Deep Purple, Rush and UFO.
To me, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is a joke until they induct Genesis and Chicago. As well as Quincy Jones and Bernie Taupin in the Non-Performers category.
I wonder if Michael Jackson's death will play a role in choosing the nominees for the 2010 Rock Hall, and the actual inductees for that matter. Maybe Janet Jackson and Quincy Jones will be inducted. I can't wait to see the video tribute to Michael Jackson at the 2010 Rock Hall. You know it's going to happen!
DYNASTY AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE

Yes I know it's going to happen. IMO Janet Jackson is good and should be inducted along with Gloria Estefan. If Rap and Hip Hop can get in Gloria should be able

Look, it's not 50 cent or Soulja Boi induct in the Hall of Fame. It's Grand Master Flash and Run DMC, who are the real Old School Hip Hop. not P Diddy or Vanilla Ice in the HoF. If Bone Thugs are eligible for the Hall of Fame I'd say go for it.

I'm kind of surprised The Cars, Poison, Genesis and Alice Cooper have not been inducted yet. As far as I'm concerned they have more right to be there than some of the other inductees.

Hell I live in Cleveland and I have 3 big beefs about the Rock-N-Roll HOF:
#1 The induction ceremonies are mostly in NY (Last time checked the hall is IN Cleveland.)
#2 This is the ROCK & ROLL HOF Not anything else!!! (Anything that inspired th 50's rock should be in old Motown,R&B Blues)Not Madonna,Rap,R&B or even Michael Jackson (The King Of POP) HINT HINT..
#3 The term Rock & Roll was conceived and coined by Alan Freed in CLEVELAND!!!
They should make a seperate Hall Of Fame for Rap & Pop that's like putting a football player into either the basketball or baseball HOF....![]()

The video kinda threw me off at first.. i heard it..but i didnt see it..i minimized everything, still didnt know where it was coming from.
I aggree about Gn'R..
Lars didnt know what vinyl was.![]()
I dunno, I find the whole thing of being in a "hall of fame" to be a bit pointless. The museum has a ton of different genres... I remember seeing my sister's pictures when she went. They had everything from the Beatles to Britney Spears.
Looking at the list of inductees, I probably do not know 50% of them
I wouldn't take it personally if your favorite acts never seem to get inducted. Take pride in the joy you and others receive from listening to their actual music.![]()

Well on this list:
KISS (About time)
ABBA (Rock & Roll???)
Genesis (About Time)
Laura Nyro (Close But not in the same ballpark)
The Hollies (OK)
Jimmy Cliff (Not R & R Ska, reggae)
The Stooges (OK)
The Chantels (OK)
Darlene Love (Close Enough)
Donna Summer (Not R & R)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Yes)
LL Cool J (Like LL but NOT in the Rock & Roll HOF)
OK 7 out of 10 isn't bad but it should NOT be all music if so then why do they call it the ROCK & ROLL HOF???...![]()

Readers’ Rock List: Who Should Be Nominated For the Hall of Fame?
9/28/09, 1:11 pm EST
Photo: McConnell/Getty
Last week, after revealing that Kiss had finally been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we asked our readers what other acts have been overlooked by Rock Immortality. We expected Rush to dominate this poll, but it was the fans of “Weird Al” Yankovic who came rushing to Rolling Stone, demanding that the king of musical satire get a HOF nod. Frustrated fans of the Smiths, Tom Waits and Television also had their say, as did those who felt Lou Reed should be recognized for his solo works. For the full Readers’ Rock List, check below:
1. “Weird Al” Yankovic
2. Rush
3. The Moody Blues
4. The Smiths
5. Alice Cooper
6. Television
7. Beastie Boys
8. Deep Purple
9. Lou Reed
10. Jethro Tull
11. MC5
12. New York Dolls
13. Roxy Music
14. Tom Waits
15. Sonic Youth
