Ted Nugent left a lot of mark in the music industry! even though they are not popular than contemporary artists he left a lot of legacy and influence to the contemporary rock artists. Same with the late Duane Allman. Even though his life are short but people appreciate him and give a big impact on music industry. A very good candidate for Hall of Fame.
Our ancestor are praying for the wealthy of his generation, Many has come and we will wait for more.

As we reach the point where bands I remember starting out are eligible for the Hall of Fame, I start feeling considerably older!(It's been going on for a couple of years now!)

Doesn't it have to be 25 years since they started to even be nominated? I don't think Nirvana qualifies yet.
I think most of that list is a joke. If Guns N' Roses is being nominated based on the one huge hit album, why hasn't a band such as Def Leppard, who has two huge hit albums and has been around 10 years longer than GnR, even been nominated yet? Why do they keep nominating non-rock acts over more deserving rock acts? Call me bitter if you want, but you certainly can't say I'm the only person who has scoffed at the usual ridiculous list of nominees.

Guns 'N Roses before Bon Jovi? Really? I'm sorry but Bon Jovi has had a much longer career and more hits than GNR - and most likely more album sales to date.
I'll also agree Def Leppard should be nominated before GNR as well.
I ain't voting on this one.

Well people want Axl to kiss up and make up with former band members. Especially on Slash, they just want to end their feud or adding more fire on Axl.
I don't see GnR as a nominee on this one, but I have a feeling they use HoF to end the feud.

Old people used to annoy me at weddings by pinching my cheeks &
saying that you are the next.
They stopped doing that when I started doing the same to them at funerals.
True, but they didn't come close to Appetite For Destruction. That's the one that gets all the attention. An absolute masterpiece, in my opinion. But for them to be nominated in what is essentially the first year they'd be eligible over other, more deserving acts who've been around a lot longer is ludicrous. Especially in light of the fact that GnR's output in the last decade and a half has been negligible.

I would love to see Appetite of GnR goes to the ceremony instead of Axl Rose and the Train-wreck in the ceremony. They have to wait another 14 years and 13 million dollars to eligible the HoF.
Not going to work pal, Those two dude would be salt and wound, Salt is mr Axl Rose a.k.a Singing voice of Rafiki and Wound is Guitar Legend Slash.Original Post by Dawn.com
Their induction should lead to talk once again of a possible reunion, at least for the induction ceremony.
Well, kiss up and make up doesn't work right now for GNR, your choice folks!

I saw Axl's statement and the media/fan reaction negatively towards him. I have to say, I side with Axl. He shouldn't have to go be with people he doesn't get along with just to be inducted in to a silly Hall of Fame.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke and a sham anyway. Half the folks that get inducted couldn't be considered rock and roll in any way shape or form. Do they have relevance to music? No doubt. And if this were the Music Hall of Fame then great! Happy to see so many deserving artists there! But this is supposed to be the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. And we've got the likes of Marvin Gaye (great artist, one of my all time favs but in no way is he rock & roll) and Hank Williams (again, great artist but NOT rock and roll) in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? What? This whole thing is like reliving Jethro Tull winning the best Hard Rock Grammy over Alice In Chains over and over and over again.
I won't appreciate the Hall of Fame until they induct the Monkees.![]()

Totally agree with you about JBJ, without doubt. And Def Leppard too.
As above, totally agree here - KISS would be my number one choice by far, i find it hard to believe they've been overlooked year after year. JBJ would easily be my number two.
A few others that spring to mind are: Dire Straits, The B-52's, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Quincy Jones (NP)...

I cried when Half of GnR (Steven, Slash, Duff,) and Myles Kennedy perform Sweet Child of Mine, I really miss Steven in GnR, but it does cure me when I hear Baby Can't Drive (Steven) and Ghost (Izzy) songs in Slash solo album.

I believe that G’NR deserves to be inducted on the strength of Appetite for Destruction alone. Their follow up albums were lesser while still good.
G’NR’s sound and how they were presented was a stark contrast to the dull bloated music scene at the time.
Appetite to me isn’t just about hit songs. It’s a complete record that can be (and should be) listened to as a whole. That’s what music should be about- the ability to listen to and enjoy an album in its entirety.
Many consider Appetite as one of the best rock OR metal albums of all time. Another mark of an artist’s impact is when different genres claim an artist as their own.
G’NR belongs in the Hall of Fame for their craft as individual musicians too.
I never understood that there was some resistance to artists like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Aerosmith getting in(some challenged their innovation or the number of #1s). If the Heartbreakers and Aerosmith were looked down upon by some critics the Hall of Fame should be a very small building. Rock and Roll is great enough that the hall of fame can have more than the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and scores of underappreciated blues acts.
It would have been cool to see Axl there (and Dave, Eddie, and Alex w/ VH).
I'm glad to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers get in. They are my favorite from this year's group.

The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 are in. This year's hopefuls are Albert King, Chic, Deep Purple, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum, Public Enemy, Randy Newman and Rush. The top vote-getters will be inducted on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater L.A. live in Los Angeles.
For the first time, the public gets to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 5th, fans can vote on RollingStone.com for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class of 2013. The results will be announced in mid-December.
"The definition of 'rock & roll' means different things to different people, but as broad as the classifications may be, they all share a common love of the music," commented Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. "This year we again proudly put forth a fantastic array of groups and artists that span the entire genre that is 'rock & roll.'"
Rush have been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, but this is their first time appearing on the ballot. Pioneering rap groups N.W.A and Public Enemy also both made the ballot in their first year of eligibility. If they are inducted, they will join fellow hip-hop acts Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys in the Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will be held in Los Angeles for the first time since 1993. It's usually held in New York at the Waldforf Astoria, but it was held in Cleveland in 1997, 2009 and 2012.
