So its gonna be released in the movies first?

I read the article and it said after teh movie that
Lucasfilm Animation... has produced more than 30 all-new episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and production continues on even more exciting episodes.
personally, I like this. I'm excited about it. I like it that its more than 2 min bits like the last one. These episodes are 30min long. Sweet. Also I didn tlike the art for the last one. Now, will I see Aayla..thats what I care about. Dunno how I feel about Anakin's new padawan Ahsoka. Not a fan of the species, and somewhat iffy on how its gonna play out. Plus is that its a CHICK. ROCKON. We need more chicks who are jedi.

I thought only Jedi Masters could take on padawans

Still more Star Wars in the theater is always good. Almost makes up for not getting the 3d versions we were promised.

    Almost.

Im surprised no one's posted about this before. This news was given out at the UK Toy Fair a couple of weeks ago.
Nice to see Star Wars back in cinemas, and it seems the usual fuss of merchandise is going to happen along with it, which Im happy about.
What next? It seems every month lately there is something..

Was Obi-Wan a master when he took Anakin as his padawan? He'd only just made it to knight himself.

Plus in time of war desperate measures are forced to be taken. I should think the story will go, Ahsoka's master is killed and so is assigned to Anakin until a more suitable permanent master can found after the war. I think it has happens quite a few times in the EU, even to Anakin himself when Obi-Wan was believed to be dead.

I'll definitely catch this in the theaters.

Here's what the packaging for the Clone Wars action figures will look like:

It kind of reminds me of the Revenge of the Sith packaging.

I preferred the animation style of the previous clone wars cartoon. THat new animation has too much of an anime look to it for me. Regardless, I'll still be there to buy tickets as soon as they go on sale.

Here's an informative interview from TV Guide:
The news that George Lucas has decided to go back to the Star Wars well not once but two more times — in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, an animated film (in theaters Aug. 15), and in a new animated series of the same name debuting this fall on the Cartoon Network — sent the Force-a-verse into a tailspin. We had some burning questions about these new Clone Wars-set stories, and we knew you would, too. So we went straight to the powers-that-be for some answers. (Don't worry, so far it appears to be a Jar Jar-free zone.)
What exactly are the Clone Wars?
First alluded to in 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, the Clone Wars are a conflict between the Galactic Republic — led by the Jedi Knights and their clone army — and Count Dooku’s Confederacy of Independent Systems. Not previously seen in any of the saga's six films, the Clone Wars take place between the events of 2002's Episode II and 2005's Episode III. "I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," says Lucas, who is executive-producing this project. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward."

So it's both a movie and a TV series?
Yes. "The movie is an original full-length story that brings this new look and new energy to the Star Wars galaxy," according to Lucasfilm spokesman John Singh. "It has a full and self-contained story." Then, in the fall, Cartoon Network will begin airing 30-minute episodes that continue the saga. At a still-to-be-determined point after that, TNT will reair the episodes. "It is serialized, but Lucas did it in such a way that they also can stand on their own," says Turner Animation president Stuart Snyder. More than 30 episodes have already been produced, and the show will be broken down into 22-episode seasons. Snyder says "a multiseasonal agreement" is in place. Both the movie and the TV show will utilize 3-D computer-generated animation from Lucasfilm.

Wait, wasn't there already a Cartoon Network series about the Clone Wars?
Yep. In 2003, Star Wars: Clone Wars premiered on Cartoon Network. Produced by Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, the 25-part, traditionally 2-D animated "micro series" of five- to 12-minute episodes concluded just prior to Episode III's theatrical release and won the 2005 Emmy for outstanding animated program. The new version won't supersede the events and continuity of that show, but will instead delve more deeply into the story of the Clone Wars.

Which Star Wars characters show up in The Clone Wars?
Anakin Skywalker (the future Darth Vader), Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala are front and center, leading the Republic's army. The separatist movement — which will become the evil Galactic Empire of the original movie trilogy — is led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous, the creepy, Jedi-hunting alien-robot hybrid introduced in the original cartoon and Episode III. New characters will include Anakin's Padawan apprentice Ahsoka, a teenage female Togruta, which is a race of red-skinned, horned aliens. Singh promises that Ahsoka's role will be "really important."

Is this a show for kids? Adults? Both?
While Lucas had previously said this wouldn't be "kiddie stuff," Turner's Snyder emphasizes that "this show is for everyone." Adds Singh, "Being an animated project there is perhaps an even greater appeal to a younger audience than the movies had."

I dont mind that he's doing the Clone Wars again. If I can see Aayla kickin some butt I'll be pleased, though I do wonder that after this is done if he will go into another time period.

The live action show is suppose to take place between Episodes III and IV. It might only focus on minor characters, though.

It is actually the same as the one that got leaked before, but better picture quality (and no subtitles).

The Clone Wars Season 3 Trailer

Looking good. Like the hints of Asoka inevitable death and big space battles but don't like Cad Bane using a lightsaber (unless he's revealed to be a former jedi but that has already been done to death). I hate non-jedi using lightsabers in fights against a jedi, they just wouldn't stand a chance the fight would last about two seconds.
Also liked the glimpse of someone form the 'Brainiac' species, not very often you see that species used. From the figure show of him at SDCC it looks like he's going to be a clone trainer.

You know, we've all been wondering just what it was that pushed Anakin over to the dark side so quickly, as it was never realy explained in the movies... Other than the fact that he was an unstable creation/experiment of the force. Maybe the death of Asoka, who we don't see in episode 3, finally pushes him over the edge?

I still don't think it is a given she dies. Some of this was shown in the Season 3 preview at the end of the season 2 finale.

They are not going to kill Ahsoka in season 3. They are nowhere near the end of the series. There was even a small spoiler about her in the secret Season 3 codes from Cartoon Network.

Hint: She will begin to start using a small lightsaber dagger along with her regular lightsaber now. The visions are really part of her trial on her path to being a Jedi Knight. She is getting closer to being a knight. End of hint.

    Season 3 looks awesome.

I'm sure she'll die eventually, but not until the series comes to an end.

No I don't think she'll die in this series they stretch it out as long as they can and they said at one time they had a least 100 episodes planned, but it's setting up things to come which I like.
I think the moves explained Anakins fall to the dark side enough (just not that well) he lost his mother and feared loosing Padme as well, but I'm all for Asoka adding to this, I really want her death to be Anakins fault or at lease have him blame himself for it, like thinking he didn't train her well enough or something, going really dark, loosing control and avenging her death.

Fyi, one can always delete their last post and then post a new post. If you want to keep the contents of your last post, you can do a copy-paste and put it in the new post as well. I've done that with some threads in the past.
