    My Live He-Man Experiences

Those costumes are so wicked! I saw He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor and King Hiss at Dogpatch U.S.A. He-Man and Skeletor were in these virtual plastic bags with their corresponding characters drawn on them along with a mask that was a lifesize replica of the toys' heads. King Hiss' costume worked a lot like the toy. His torso was stiff and it had a small door on the stomach. He came out on stage and scared the crap out of me (I was standing four rows away) when he opened that door and showed three of the yellow snakes that looked like the toy. He later exited and let Skeletor accost the audience and the Dogpatch mascots until HE-MAN AND SHE-RA arrived to save the day!

The Dogpatch mascots exited as Skeletor took on both She-Ra and He-Man. King Hiss eventually came back in a different top that was the same plastic bag material as He-Man and Skeletor. Then, She-Ra wards off Skeletor upstage while He-Man and King Hiss go downstage to have their knockdown, drag-out fight. I remember a lot of rolling from King Hiss and He-Man doing a few throws.

Finally King Hiss and Skeletor retreated and all the kids got to go up on stage and take pictures. I remember I was hoping King Hiss and Skeletor would come back for pictures, but that was my only disappointment from that experience.Sure, it kinda sucked that He-Man, She-Ra and King Hiss had the same sword, but it was still cool to see some broadsword stage combat. Skeletor's Havoc staff looked exactly like the toy as well. Even if it was plastic on plastic, just seeing those weapons connect and those characters fighting right in my face was unbelievable.

The year before that, I saw some too tan and way too brunette body builder who was obviously killing two birds with one stone and trying to do a portfolio shoot while doing a mall photo gig. I think it was in Joplin, MO at Northpark Mall. I got my picture taken with him and he signed my Golden Book "I Have the Power." Yes, I also still own it and the whole set of them.

The coolest thing about it was that his sword looked exactly like the cartoon and his costume was more brown like the MYP series. Whoever designed it stayed pretty true to the original design except the harness was brown leather and the boots and briefs weren't streamlined like Filmation's series. I remember this guy's mullet looked kinda like a raccoon-skinned cap. Anyway, I think the Power Tour was long over after that. I was about four or five when it happened. Still, I was more amped over that stuff as a kid than I was about telling Santa Claus what I wanted for X-Mas.

I'll try to get the rest of the pictures on here later if my Internet decides to agree with me.

    Peace

Music sounds like a bad 80's movie. Actually, a member I haven't seen online for a while now, Lioncourt, had a picture of himself with Mossman (who looked more like the creature from the wing of the airplane of the classic Twilight Zone episode) and another with himself and a little friend standing before the same Grayskull background with He-Man and Man-At-Arms.

I remember being a kid and watching the commercial on KCOP 13 from L.A. (on cable). I remember wishing I lived in California so I could go.

King Hiss looks like he's a bit stiff in the Dogpatch U.S. photos but he looks identical to the action figure. What is Dogpatch, anyway?

You can have all of the toys in the world, but they're all worthless if you have no one to play with.

He was stiff to house the snakes hidden in the torso of his costume. Props go to that stunt guy for being able to do a show with limited movement for his core. To answer your questions about Dogpatch, you might check out the dialogue ICER and I shared in this thread http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...d.php?t=158982

Oh, and that "bad 80s movie" music is just the icing on the cake for me.

    Peace.

Well if you hit the Back to the future ride and it works you can set the dial for 1987 and go back in time to see the show. Otherwise....your twenty years to late buddy.

Thanks for sharing this. Did anyone else notice that He-Man's sword seemed to have an indent for the famous She-Ra jewel?

I didn't see the Sorceress in the background. I felt robbed!

BTW, this commercial made me glad that MYP changed He-Man's hair. Maybe that was their biggest improvement on the series.

    Universal Studios with He-Man & She-Ra

In the mid 1980's, I recall seeing a Universal Studios commercial, on TV, where they featured He-Man & She-Ra. I remember the commercial had a dark foggy environment where they had people dressed up as various MOTU/POP characters. By attending Universal Studios, kids would receive free MOTU/POP figures.

Does anyone remember this commercial, know where it may be posted or attended Universal Studios during that time?

Thank you, Grimbot! This commercial was awesome by showing the MOTU and POP characters together.

One of the smaller fan sites a few years ago had a page on this show, complete with various character shots. I think the site is long gone, but trying to remember who ran it... maybe someone on these forums? Maybe Busta will know.
