Also, wouldn't this had made for a cooler box-design for the MOTUCs?

thought it was about time i lived up to my name
And so I walk, into the searing light which banishes all darkness, surrendering my face and form to atoms of dust, seeking the true darkness of peace, the cool shadows of eternity and the unknown fate of nothingness

Oh gawd, Rob Liefeld drew He-Man!? Well I guess he got the muscular body frame correct, but didn't bother making his weapons look accurate, just some generic samurai sword he probably saw on the home shopping network . Also Rob will not draw feet to save his own life LOL!

Funny. I've been thinking of a mock-up of how Liefeld would draw 2002 He-Man with his...umm.... style, and now I see that I'm off to the right track with my approach.

I know right, he's the worst of the 90s era of the post Watchmen "grim & gritty" movement all the big publishers ran with to make money pandering to adult collectors instead of actual kids (how else do you explain those multiple variant covers )! I;m shocked that other more talented people were able to take Deadpool and make him awesome again afterwards ! Anyway, have you seen this blog: http://progressiveboink.com/archive/robliefeld.html

Aside from all the awful illustrations he did durring his tenure on X-Force mostly, there's a really stupid quote from him taken from some back-issue of Wizard magazine most likely, of him bragging about owning "Conan's Sword" the Atlantian I presume. Does he know they've been making replicas of that for years? Probably not, lets not upset him by telling him the truth ! Boy, this sure is off topic, but who cares right?

I was a teenager in high school during the rise of Rob Liefeld; I remember, then, how cool I thought his penciling was. That was before I really started studying illustration. I had trouble with hands and feet also, so I'd draw everyone with their hands in their pockets, or standing behind something (brick walls and steam were always good for that).
But at that time - me wanting to be a comic book artist - Liefeld, Jim Lee, Silvestri and the other guys from IMAGE comics were who I looked to for inspiration. Before they formed their own company, they were really revolutionizing a lot of the main titles for Marvel. I think, also, the growing influence of Manga and Japanese Animation had a big impact on the way we tell stories.

So I'm glad I'm not alone in my disdain for Rob Liefeld's artwork (if we are to call it that). Looking at these two pieces posted, of Liefeld's, I can't help but feel a deeper sense of appreciation of the talent I see on this forum. MOTU gives us all opportunities to hone our skills, whether we're painting, drawing, or sculpting or re-fitting action figures. And those who write fan fiction, which I do that as well. After visiting these Fan-Art forums, I'm always inspired to draw something or write. Fueled with endless ideas. You guys motivate me to draw and study my craft, and perfect my own skills. Thanks for that!

Furthermore, I'm reminded of how important it is if we want to be proficient illustrators (artists), and/or writers, that we study every bit of our craft. Thus it can't be stressed enough (Rob Liefeld's 40 Worst Drawings is testament to this) how valuable it is to have a solid foundation in Life Drawing; a good understanding of anatomy, composition, and shading and color. And in my own experience, how much better I work when I work with references.

I'm still influenced by Jim Lee and J. Scott Campbell and Adam Hughes, along with a whole slew of old and new comic book artists, but as I mature I'm finding I gravitate more towards the work of Alex Ross and other artists who have a more rendered or photo-real quality to their pieces. Especially fantasy artists and conceptual artists, as I'm always studying as much as I can, their breakdowns and techniques.

But I can say, with confidence, that: I'll never like anything Rob Liefeld creates.

I just blew my nose this mornin and had a quick look to see if what I had created was better than Leifeld's art.
It was a close call but my messy tissue looked better at the end of the day!

I could'v gone the arse wipe route but why be OTT right!
