I hope this isn't one of those things that toyguru thinks is keen. It just doesn't flow for me. What the hell is the harness? And why oh why must the fists always be clenched.......

never liked Robs art whether it was the Barrel chested Captain America or the small hands and feets of hero's , or the over used crouched lines or the look that they were all pushing out a Cole

I was looking through Liefeld's current website. His style hasn't changed much, except he doesn't crosshatch too much. That's been the growing trend; a lot of artists such as Jim Lee used to crosshatch the heck out of their figures. Now that they're getting older, they tend to lighten up. And this has improved their overall work. But with Liefeld, it didn't do too much to improve anything.

I'm not a big fan of Rob and that image is a good example of why. It looks bad.

there's an error in the color job. look at the left wrist metal band... that peice hanging off to the right is actually part of castle GraySkull, but colored silver like the Metal band.

Anyway, I suppose this artist must be OK since he is a professional in the feild, but i dont realy get his style and incorrect annatomy... his Biceps are always off and that's why I recognized his work.

As far as a design for he-man, I didnt mind the "harness". After all, Flying-Fists He-Man had something similar. However, the sword is too simple.

Always Glad to see Professional artists tackle a He-Man drawing. I will say that much.

Sad thing is: Rob Liefeld had taken a break from comic books for a while, to work on his art style. I guess this is all he could improve. It definitely makes me feel better about the direction I'm headed with my own skills.

This was already posted in the Deviantart thread. Now (MERGED)

Can't say I'm a Rob Liefeld fan, & the different size in He-Man's hands in this image is one of the reasons why... yikes.

I have no idea how he still gets work. Either he is very charasmatic, incites contraversary or he has numerous bedfellows.

Did He-Man cross paths with the witch doctor from Beetlejuice? That's like the smallest head in the universe.

    I enjoyed Liefeld's New Mutants/X-Force run.
I still maintain that he tapped into something there.
There was a reason he got so popular, his art had a cool energy, it captured something.

Yeah, knowledge of anatomy and perspective and all the rest is a very helpful tool, but TBH it's the tracing/stealing elements that I find more offensive.

I think a lot of what makes someone's style their own unique thing, especially in comic and cartoon art, is how they elect to disregard certain "realistic" elements.

I agree. I like Liefeld too...at least back then during his New Mutants/X-Force/early Youngblood days. I thought his art had gotten worse after his sabbatical because he tried to be more realistic, instead of embracing his more stylistic tendencies.

theblock, that blog on Liefeld's art is hilarious!

Adam usually gets from $200-$300 for a sketch like this. But it's worth every penny!! It's done with Copic Markers on 11x17 bristol board.
