I'd love to see Battle Cat looking like the vintage box art! He would be so awesome! More articulation than the vintage one tho!

I think Panthor should be flocked, but I think the vintage Panthor/Battle Cat looked better than the 200x one (how can I say that? I love the 200x style! )

Basically, I think that holds for all of the Classics figures and animals. If they were flocked or had fur (Grizzlor) in the vintage line, they should in the Classics line: Panthor, Grizzlor, Moss Man, Clawdeen (?)... (never had the last one so not sure if the flocking is there or not)
Mattel... Please bring back 200x styled stactions!!

If they did "re-use" the mold to give Hordak a cat to ride on, they could give his cat a 2000 style body armour. Hordak had always been about tech, in my opinion, so that would make sence for him to hav the tech style armor on is cat.
Hordak didn't need a cat. He had MANTISAUR, a giant mantis. That was when MOTU made so much bank, they could make unique molds.

Oh but if you look at each figure, they all have a touch or a flavor of the 200X sensitivities in there too.

He-Man has leather straps that hold his left gauntlet on, dark straps on his boots where all other classic material should dictate that they be a lighter brown or tan, rivet holes in his harness armor, etc.

Beastman has brown horns in his armor.

    Merman has blue gems.

I could go on with some of the others, but it's known that while the figures by in large do pull from the classic material... There are little salt and peppering's of the modern look too.

Giving Battle Cat some serious daggers for top fangs would be sweet IMO.
I'll understand if they don't make him a saber tooth tiger, but I think it could be really cool if they do give him a slight nod there in the teeth department.

Oh, and please NO FLOCKING for Panthor or Moss man this go around m'kay?

I guess i'm also in the minority that wants BC to remain a sabretooth tiger as well. To me it fits better with the whole prehistoric/magical and contrasting sci-fi elements that make MOTU what it is. And a Sabretooth tiger is by far more imposing/intimidating than a tiger is. Of course BC has to be huge too like 200x!

I'm not sure why there's concern over whether his bio will mention if he talks or not. So what if it does? It's print on cardboard, not a holy book or something. The packaging will get tossed and BC will remain mute in my 'verse. I'm sure many folks have pets here that they cherish as family, and I bet 99% of those pets don't talk (excludes parrots) - so what's the difference?

I'm not so sure about this, but I would like him to be something outstanding.
Also, I would love to see 2-packs. Battle Armor He-Man w. Battle Cat, Battle Armor Skeletor w. Panthor, and King Grayskull (200x sword and all) w Battle Lion.
As for Battle Lion, I wouldn't mind if they would only give him new head-sculpt and saddle but using the body of BC.

I'm in the group that wants Battle Cat as a Sabertooth Tiger. It makes him more ferocious looking in addition to really being the only thing about 200x BC that I really liked. The classic armor is perfect to me.

    I definitely want Battle Cat!
He's got to have his classic armor...I never really cared for the 200x armor. I'd prefer the him to decently articulated to allow for some cool poses. The teeth don't bother me one way or the other. Sabertooth or not, I'll still buy him.

If we get Battle Cat then Panthor is a shoe-in (I can't see Mattel wasting the cat mold on only one figure). I'd like my Panthor to be un-flocked. The flocking is a dust nightmare.

DEFINITELY classic armor for me, and with that, definitely would NOT want the sabretooth look. Don't know if we'll see it or not, but that would be something that could easily be solved with a second head. Heck, even a second set of armor in the 200x style, but then it's probably gonna jump in price. For me though, if it's in the 200x style, I probably won't be buying it.

I hope they keep the flocked fur for Panthor (and Moss Man).

One thing I loved about the vintage Battle Cat was that Teela could ride on him too, sitting behind He-man. I really wish that was possible for the 200x version's saddle.

    i want:

    armor
    -classic armor for both

    articulation
ratchet joints so they can support the weight of riders while posed. if they can't have good joints to support themselves AND a rider than i want little to no articulation at all. i wont be posing them much anyway if they only have joints in the shoulders(seriously how useful were the 2002 joints?).

i'd be fine with joints in the head, jaw as the most basic.

if they have joints then they need more than the 2002 versions. the shoulder joints were useless since all they did was make BC/Panthor fall over(plus that stupid action feature).

    my dream would be:
ratchet jointed ankles, knees, hips, neck, head, jaw, torso and tail(no bendy tail!!) and it be stable enough to have he-man ride without it collapsing
I want NA Skeletor and Rio Blast and I want them now!

Awesome! The funny part is, if you've ever met Eamon, and heard him talk with his awesome Irish accent, then you're right there with me imagining him finish that cereal toon song... "They're magically delicious!"

Sorry Eamon for me poking a little fun at the Irish... I do it in love though brother!

I agree! This is the Batte Cat I want - he might need 2 heads though. I don't really want the Battle Cat head to resemble the 80's toy....

The Packaging face and the overall scale of BC is totally right and that's how should be.

your no alone on that boat,I would love this battlecat. One of the things I love about him besides how wild he looks is how long his fur is on his arms and paws.

Panthor looks just as ferocious on his vintage boxart which is the panthor I'd prefer.

While I will always love that Battlecat boxart, I still want him remain a sabertooth tiger into MOTUC and into the movie!!!

You can't get more ferocious than that now can you?!

I enjoyed the Sabretooth look for myp but I would prefer vintage battlecat for the look in motuc. We all know that the cats will have articulated jaws so perhaps battlecat could come with two interchangable upper faces one sabertooth look and one vintage inspired.

My only fear is that they are going to make Battlecats helmet glued to his head like Teela's snake armor.

I do hope that Panthor will have a different head sculpt from battlecat but I prefer only one set of teeth in his mouth.I never understood why his 200x figure had all those teeth,he didnt have them in in the myp show.

WOW! I hadnt seen the box art for the 80's BC for years (was well before I started keeping the boxes) and thats a stunning image. But Maybe someone could post a pic of Panthors box art too, I would but mines in storage somewhere. cos from memory its a awesome image, that showed panthor wasnt just a fuzzy kitty, but a killing machine!.
I will buy BC and Panthor no matter what, just as I did for the 200X collection, and as long as they dont have those stupid guns on the saddles Ill be thrilled. as for the Sabretooth Idea, well since Im more a Panthor Fan, I dont mind what they do with BC, as long as Panthor is... well...A big scary panther!
On the Sabre tooth point, maybe they can make the Sabreteeth part of the helmet design? like in the previous 200X pics? but still keep the classic (iconic) design of BC's helmet intact, Just a thought. (though as a kid I LOVED that his helmet had a Beak, like some giant bird of prey)

and much earlier in the thread someone enquired as to who Clawdeen is, well shes from the POP line, shes Catra's (villians) cat steed, she shares BC's body mold but a new softer 'Kitty' face. shes flocked like Panthor, but in pink fur and has a mane of pink curls. a silver saddle and 'jewel' eyes.
    hope that helps, cheers Aj
In summation, 'Bring on the cats!!! I want Cats!' (all three thanks!)

If they add sabre tooth fangs on that boxart design it'll be a sweet looking Battlecat.

I'd like Battle Cat to be a sabretooth, that was one change in the 2002 line that was definitely an improvement.Definitely classic-style helmet and armor, though.

I can understand people preference of the old version but 2002 Battlecat is just a far cooler article in every way for me.

I never liked the classic helmet. It just looked awkward to me.

I would hope that at the very least we get two heads so we can choose.

eamon: i totally agree with you 100% on the old battle cat helmet, as a kid i always left it off.
it made him look like a weird rhino or a freekish lion
i know its a toy, but it covered his ears so how would he hear important noises such as he-man talking to him
or witch side panthor was sneeking up on
the only thing i dont like about the 200x is the claw armor doesnt stay on the paws to well,, other than that i think like most of the line 200x looks better ( except he-mans sword)

I would be thrilled if these look just like the oringinal package art.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

Perhaps the teeth could be a separate sculpted piece so Panthor (and Clawdeen or any other future cat that uses the sculpt) would look like a normal cat like they did with 2002 BC & Panthor figures?
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' First look at Battle Cat at SDCC!

If you guys saw the news on the front page, ToyGuru has announced that Battle Cat will be on display at SDCC! Fantastic news! I cannot wait to see him!

I'm sure he will include it, but I must point out that I am really looking forward to him having his classic face mask back. I always preferred that to the 200x look.

So, what do you guys think about this news? Discuss!

NICE! Is battle cat supposed to be an additional figure for a particular month? I can't remember if that has been discussed before.
