Either the Filmation-style Sorceress or the Green Goddess type for me.
Nate put it the best himself, it's the original animated series concept for the Sorceress/Goddess.
It's hard to tell if she's really a Sorceress or Goddess, since she's from such a narrow small period of time, between the mini-comics and the newer continuities.
Really??I think this is the first time I've ever heard you say this Nate, so I'm a bit shocked really.
The full-fledged transformation from the Goddess into the Sorceress is just such a defining moment of the change into the concepts introduced in the Filmation-toon, that I really didn't think you liked that particular part, especially since you utterly love the first goddess.
Yeah, it takes you back a bit, now doesn't it?
Aye... if they could. =( But I do feel that the purple skin is a BIG part of this version of the Sorceress/goddess, just as important as the green is for the first one. So if you remove that, you remove a bit of the soul of the design.
Either the Filmation-style Sorceress or the Green Goddess type for me.
Uncle Montork has returned from Trolla!
i guess i'm in the minority since i really like the MYP look. but I would agree that since this is classics they should do as close to the classic/filmation look as they can. And the Green Goddess. And personally I wouldn't mind them retconning (if that's even what you'd call it in this case) and making the Green Goddess actually be Veena.
I'm with the MYP version but certainly won't object to getting a Classic look. I'd buy both. You hear that Mattel?! Both! For any character that was so drastically changed between Classic and 200X lines, I think I'd be down for getting one of each. Figures like Randor and Marlena - I really love the MYP look for those characters. Classic Randor reminds me of the Burger King guy.
He scares me...
There is no Dana...
For me, I'm going to have to go with the classic look (blue, white and orange, with the cute bird head. Although I love the MYP version and the straction (particularly the classics color version, I think the egyption bird head looks a little too angry for my liking.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
classic Sorceress all the way.
i never cared for the look (or personality) of the myp version. the freaky marks under her eyes (too goth for me, and they serve no purpose other than look wierd) and the wings that make her bird transformation seem redundant, (why turn into a bird if you already have wings?) and don't get me started on the whole Egyptian design. i never knew Africa was located on another planet.maybe if Grayskull was a pyramid rather than a CASTLE, the pharoh look would have worked.
I had never seen the NA version, but now that i have; ugh..... not the sorceress to me.... a space suit??? I guess there's a good reason i never got into NA... now i know why.
to me the classic toon/toy design is THE sorceress. But they can certainly make improvements on the figure, since the old figure is kind of silly looking. the improved articulation & detail will make a world of difference.

Classic blue white and orange for me pls. Plastic (not cloth) wings attached to the sleeves (with articulation, so she can move/bend her arms and clusters of feathers would follow) and filmation like head dress. And she must come with a zoar falcon.
My MOTUC top 10 wants (POST NYTF):
Madame Razz & Broom - Scorpia - Glimmer - Modulock - Queen Angella - Horde-Troopers - Hunga the Harpy - Peekablue - Entrapta -Mermista
Filmation Sub top 5 wants: Sea Hawk - Huntara - Red Knight - Vultak - Dylamug
Small creatures that need to happen: Kowl - Imp - Lookee - 3 main twiggets
When I posted about repaints in this new line, the Sorceress was my main example.
There are SEVERAL repaint opportunities for the Sorceress. I would LOVE a pink/white mini-comics repaint, gotta HAVE the original orange/blue colors, and the MYP one wasn't that bad at all with the Egyptian colors! I love them all and hope they utilize *APPROPRIATE* repaints in this line!

"freaky marks under her eyes" that "serve no purpose" ? You need to watch the Power of Grayskull episode again... Those marks actually do have meaning.
But since I know what a "fan" you are of the MYP show, I'll just tell you here.
At the death of King Grayskull, Veena sheds a tear, that drops onto his chest emblem, and then he transforms into the energy that fills the power sword and the elders.
So I would say that the various Sorceresses that watched over Grayskull over the eons, probably had that mark under their eyes, as a reminder of Grayskull and his power.
Now whether that was planned or not from the beginning of the new Sorceresses design? I don't know, but after seeing that episode, it makes sense to me.
As to her "bird wings"? And any "redundancy"? Pssssst! the classic Sorceress had wings too!
They could arguably be a part of her dress, but on the classic toy? You can't deny that she's got wings man!![]()

I tend to agree, proper repaints I don't think will hurt this line, just don't go weird repaint crazy. Plus these would be repaints of characters that actually existed like the pink and white Sorceress not offbeat repaints like the disco Skeletor and Blood Skeletor which never appeared anywhere, this fact alone I think will guarantee the repaints in this line will sell.
I'm wondering how they are going to implement the sorceresses wings if they do a classic version. With the classic design, her wings were attached to her arms. That would severly limit arm articulation, unless they used fabric. I'm personally hoping for a hybrid between the original sorceress Veena, with wings attached on her back, and the classic design (leaning more towards Veena).

I wonder if they will make Zoar & screech as small figure accessories or make them large separate figures like the vintage ones......
Yeah, i wonder how they'll make her 'cape' and still have her arms be able to move? I hope they don't have the 'cape' attached to her arms or they'll restrict her arm movement big time (unless the 'feathers' are part of her arm mold, which i doubt they'd do). i suppose a fabric one would be the best route for that design, even though plastic would be more preferable. maybe a cape like KG's would do just fine, and not restrict arm movement.
Baena: I never said I wasn't a fan of the myp show. there's alot of things i like, and dislike, about it. i've only watched the KG episode once and thought it reduced He-man's character to nothing more than a carbon copy, which i didn't like, to say the very least. i know alot of other fans feel the same way too.
to me, the marks under sorceress's eyes looked too much like war paint or scars, not sure which. it was a distraction to meas well as the egyptian design and full fledged bird wings. it made her seem to inhuman to me, as well as the cold sounding voice, unlike the loving motherly voice of the original. It's the combination of elements that made me dislike that version of the character. i also didn't like all the marks all over Zodak either, it wasn't nessessary. It was just someone's idea of what ''cool'' was; lets put wierd marks on people for no apparent reason other than we think it's the ''cool'' thing to do. also having wings made the zoar transformation redundant to me, since it wasn't explained, in myp toon, that she couldn't leave grayskull in her ''human'' form (as far as I recall). the original toon made that very clear, but not the myp show. not sure why....
I'm sure there's alot of fans who like various incarnations of the characters for different reasons, for me the 'filmation'/classic sorceress will always be the only version of the character i like. simply because, to me, it's the best version. I've looked at the other versions and they just don't look like the character to me. I grew up on the filmation toon first, then the toys & mini-comics. If it means anything, i don't like the nA versions of He-man & skeletor either. They look nothing like the characters I grew up with & are too much of a stretch design-wise for me to accept. Of course that doesn't mean I won't buy their figures, just to support the line in hopes of getting more of the ones i want.
as far as the vintage sorceress toy... come on, it doesn't take a genius to see it was meant to be her cape like in the toon where she spreads her arms before turning into zoar. Because of the limits of toy sculpts back in the day (and the action feature), it does come off looking like wings, even though in the toon and mini-comics it's clearly a cape.
hopefully they'll make several versions, and not just one version. Maybe if they make an ultra-cool figure of one of the other sorceress designs I might learn to like it; but only after they make the classic version first.![]()

I don't think having plastic wings attached to the sleeves should get in the way of the sorceress having poseable arms. As long as they are aproached as clusters of feathers attached to the forearm and upper arm; as well as having the wings themselves bend back (up/down) to further move out of the way. Kinda like this:

i prefer the MYP sorceress, but i'm willing to buy a filmation sorceress if i like the way it turns out
Hmmm, regarding the original classic Sorceress' "wings" that are attached to her arms, I never cared for that, actually. Maybe they should make it a cape instead, and NOT a plastic one. Instead, make it a nice cloth/materail cape that looks like feathers perhaps? That should free up her arms for better posability. I think that is one of the main reasons why I like the MYP Sorceress. Her arms are free, and she looks so cool despite her Egyptian looking costume. I still stand (but not by much) by my first choice of the Filmation Sorceress, but I also hope that they do some much-needed tweaking, improving, and updating in order to make her more interesting than some gal that's in a feather costume.
How do you think they'll pull off her "wings" and still retain any degree of articulation?

fabric would work best for that figure. solid plastic would look bad if posed in more than one way.
or maybe her 'cape' will be separate from her arms, in which case there'd be no problem with the movement. her 'cape' is separate on the original figure, i think.

Both the classic and Staction Sorceress had wings that were on her back.
the arms didn't enter into it.
but there are plenty of ways to achieve that look, the simplest being fabric.
Simple. Either give her a fabric cape, or don't attach anything to her arms. Personally, I'd rather have her with a cape of some sort, or folded wings on her back. That way, articulation would not be hindered, and it would give her a clean look.
Probably similar to the old 80's figure since they are based on the figures and not the toon.

I hope not.
Times have changed. That worked for the time. Technology is better and hopefully the new sorcoress is too.
