I haven't seen the sequel yet. Revenge of the Fallen has a fresh rating of 20% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the original's 57%. It still has a really good shot at being the number one movie at the box office this year, though.

I knew going in that I wasn't going to like it, yet I went anyway. So... what can I say? I can't complain about its success when I contributed to it. Even so, geez what a turd.

I still say Harry Potter will beat it.

I really doubt it. The IMAX version of the movie won't be release until the near end of July, because of the legitimate deal made by Paramont and IMAX. That deal came well before Warner Bro. decided to move the HP movie to the summer schedule. The new HP flick will suffer a bit from the bone headed decision made by WB. HP will have to rely on the regular release in theater for about two weeks before the IMAX version is slated to replace Transformers.
    Some Sectaur Goals:
#1: Obtain reproductions of each of the five unproduced second series figures including companion beasts and accessories.

    #2: Construct customized figures of-
Gnatseye w/ Jumpyr, Regent Galken, Scorpia, Royal Guard, Skull Soldier, Sting Trooper, Drone Trooper, Thornet, Empress Devora and Wing Warrior w/ flying steed

I'll wait for the official numbers, but I'm not surprised to see the massive 75% drop-off for Transformers. I knew it wasn't going to have the staying power the first one did. Sad to see it's going to make more $$$ than the first though.....

Its going to keep powering through regardless of the 75% drop, we saw it for a 2nd time this past weekend with my in-laws.

I do like the first one a lot more, but I'm also happy the franchise is going to continue since this one will have made the first ones total gross in about 3 1/2 weeks.

Drop or no drop it still tied for first place and took in 42 million..... pretty impressive. I was expecting it to make a lot less.

    Thanks for the info, Firefly.

It's no surprise that TF dropped so much in its second weekend. It made so much the first week, it had no where to go but down. Regardless, it is still raking in the cash.

I finally got to see TF this weekend in IMAX. It was a great experience but I do like the first movie better. Probably because my expectations were low and the effects were revolutionary. This time around, I knew what to expect and felt underwhelmed. That's not to say that I thought the movie was bad. On the contrary, I thought it was highly entertaining with some fantastic visual effects. It was a bit long though and the plot was paper thin (although I do not expect much from a movie like this). On the IMAX, it is nothing but sensory overload.

Ice Age 3 did better than I expected and Public Enemies did worse. I want to see Public Enemies however a few people I knew who saw it did not like it.

Does this mean that Bruno was number one, but didn't really do that well and it was just a slow weekend?

Yes but at this point it does not matter since TF2 made in one month what the lifetime of TF1 did

    to each their own..

but that movie was not off the hook for me.. most of it seriously dragged (no pun there). it had its little quick funny moments..and some of it just gross imo, but this time for sasha cohen.. most of the movie was tryin to hard to be funny n really it wasn't. i liked borat and did laugh a lot on that one.. but i yawned for this one.

most of it was just dumb.. and i'm not talking about funny dumb.. just flat dumb.

and the ending? i was stunned on how abruptly finished. i was confused. it was so fast and really lame. cool to see the artists.. but in my personal opinion.. wait for dvd folks. i guarantee this movie will seriously drop by this weekend. i expect it to go down to 4 or 5 or less by this weekend.
