No idea. And while I thought it was an interesting thing on its own, I don't think I'm interested enough to try to find out.

Here's an article from Newsarama where they do the adjustment for inflation.

    http://www.newsarama.com/film/090508...ox-office.html

Condensed version, it's the highest opening for a Star Trek movie, but factor in inflation and how movies nowadays tend to make almost all their money in the first weekend, it may not surpass the very first movie or The Voyage Home over the course of it's entire theatrical run. This is one of the first movies I've seen in ages, that I'm just DYING to see again in theaters and it seems like almost EVERYBODY that sees it loves it, so word of mouth could help it maintain it's staying power over the next few weeks, in kinda the opposite way that most people seemed to dislike Wolverine and it dropped off about 68% in its second weekend.

I have zero interest in a reboot.

As for another movie, I am only interested in movies that take place before Episode 4, or in the alternative, somewhat into the future (like the stuff with Cade Skywalker a few decades after the current books and whatnot).

Edit: Just wanted to say thanks to Wonderboy for posting that article that considers inflation.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Knights of the Old Republic movie. Loved the games.

Y'know what though... I bet in mmmmm, ten years? Twenty? They will do just that. Sobering thought! EVERYTHING gets remade. So stuff we like now, is bound to get rebooted or remade or reimagined or whatever you wanna call it at SOME point. Ugh.

    EDIT:
Star Trek officially grossed $79.2 million. They had previously been predicting it would make $76, so it did even better than it was trending. I think the great word of mouth probably convinced a lot of people to go see it on Sunday.

May 15-17 weekend estimates in millions:

    1 ANGELS & DEMONS 48.0

    4 GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST 6.9 (40.1)
    5 OBSESSED 4.6 (62.6)

    Thanks for the info, Firefly.

Angels & Demons did not do as well as I thought it would. I tried watching the Da Vinci Code the other night and lost interest. I did read the book and enjoyed it but couldn't get into the movie much. A&D looks much of the same but I will check it out on dvd.

Star Trek is doing well which bodes well for the franchise. The movie looks great and I am going to see it in about an hour so I am excited.

Wolverine is chugging along with a respectable total considering the online leak and all. I enjoyed it and look forward to a potential sequel.

My wife and I went to Angels & Demons last night. It was a pretty good movie. Not excellent, but good. It wasn't over the top with conspiracy oriented folklore against Christianity like the Da vinci code was either.

Star Trek was great. Everything I look for in a summer movie. Not a huge fan of the franchise but I feel it is headed in the right direction. Bones was awesome.

So, how do you think Terminator Salvation is going to do? I've read more negative reviews than good ones so far. Those effects look sick though. I do think Night At The Museum 2 will take the weekend crown as it is more family friendly and looks pretty good. Refused to watch the first one until I caught on cable and surprisingly enjoyed it.

Terminator movies always get negative reviews though, it will do OK but I am not sure what the final total will be as a lot of Terminator fans I know felt cheated after T3

Night at the Museum I think will be the big winner this weekend, my in-laws loved it and kids will love it too...just a bigger $$$ audience.

Not surprised with UP I guess... did anyone here see UP? That movie looked beyond stupid, just wondering if it is actually good or people just flocked to it because it is Pixar. I mean it opened bigger than Wall-E ($63 mil).

Have you listened to EPISODE 53 yet?

Nope it's just a really good movie! It's one of PIXAR's best and that is saying something given the past. It's also getting 5 star and 10/10 reviews by many critics.
