Hero-O-Matic/"Factory of Heroes" - Create characters in DC Animated Universe style!

I just discovered a great site recently, and thought that others here might enjoy it! The official name is currently Fábrica de Herķis, which is portugese for "Factory of Heroes". Apparently, the program was originally called Hero-O-Matic (which is what some English-speaking users still call it) before the name change. You can find it HERE.

It's a Flash-based program that allows you to custom make characters that look like they stepped right out of the DC Animated Universe as created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm! ^_^

There's already a thread about it over in the (MOTU) Fan-Art Forum HERE, where people are posting their MOTU characters they've created with it. But I thought it was so cool, we should have a thread for non-MOTU characters, as well! ^_^

For example, as the release of the upcoming movie G.I.*Joe: Rise of Cobra draws nearer, I'm getting more and more excited about seeing my favorite characters on the silver screen! So, I've started creating some of the characters in Bruce Timm's style using this program! Imagine if Bruce Timm were hired to make a new G.I.*Joe cartoon! We might end up with character designs like this...

Snake-Eyes (in his classic second costume)

Storm Shadow Version 1 (Cobra Ninja outfit)

Storm Shadow Version 2 ("Urban Camouflage" outfit worn after he joined the Joes)

And because Storm Shadow just HAS to have other Arashikage Clan ninjas to do his bidding, here's...

a Red Ninja (AKA "Ninja Viper")

Those of you that have read the classic issue # 21, "Silent Interlude", will remember well the red ninja that wielded a pair of sais, and the fate that befell him in that issue!

Anyway, have fun creating your own characters with this, and be sure to share them with us here! To save your character, simply tap the "Print Screen" button, open up Microsoft Paint, go to Edit, and select Paste. Then save that bitmap of your screen shot. Crop the image appropriately, save it as a smaller file type (saving as a jpeg is recommended, but I also recommend using a program like irfanview to save the jpeg with 100% image quality, so that you don't degrade the image quality in converting it to a jpeg, which can happen if you have Paint save it as a jpeg.) Once you've saved it as a jpeg, upload your image to the photo hosting site of your choice, and post it here! ^_^

I'm off to create some more heroes (and heroines), but I look forward to seeing what you all come up with! :-)

I'm glad the .Org is now displaying PNGs!

Seeing this thread, the idea of the Minoan Minotaur of Knossos hit me. Problem is, I didn't know which body build best fits the character. So, I made the character with all three male builds.

Here, we have the SUPER build

Next, we have the ATHLETE (Atleta) build

Finally, we have the BRUTE (Bruto) build

The attire is based on modern Greek colors. Which build works best with the legendary character?

I can not for the life of me get hero-o-matic pics to save. I hit the "prtscr" button, and nothing happens.

Again, that's only the first step.

Next, you have to open a new (blank) document/image in MS Paint (or another similar image editing program) and then use the paste command to paste the screenshot image into it. Then you should save it BEFORE you crop it and make any other changes you want to make (like photoshopping in a symbol or background).

Hope that helps. BTW, these are the steps you use on a Windows machine. If you're using a Mac or a machine running Linux.... Good luck. I only use Windows, both at home and at work, so I won't be able to help you if you're in the computing minority.

    Yes, I'm a DC Comics fanboy! ;-)

So, today, I got onto a kick of creating DC's* First Family of Crime Fighting!

I give you.... THE MARVEL FAMILY!

Captain Marvel, the World's Mightiest Mortal (THE ORIGINAL Capt. Marvel, that is! ;-))

    Captain Marvel Jr.!

Mary Marvel in her original red outfit!

Mary Marvel looking as pure as the freshly fallen snow!

*Formerly Fawcett's characters, but that's another story for another topic.

    And now, the villains!

And because every superhero family needs villains to fight....

    here's Black Adam!

And here's Mary Marvel, after her recent turn to the Dark Side!

It took 3 different boot "layers" just to approximate the look of the oh-so-goth boots she's wearing in the comics now!

In this case, I think the Brute build works the best. It is more bull-like, and I think the Minotaur should be just a huge character anyway.

Those of you who've known me on this board long enough, will know where my username comes from. And therefore, you knew this one was coming eventually....

I now present... the DC Animated Universe version of...

    GREEN LANTERN JACK T. CHANCE!

Sadly, the bow tie you see was the closest thing Hero-O-Matic/"Factory of Heroes" had to Jack's signature death's head skull bolo tie with dice on the ends.

Other than that one little nit-picky thing, I'm very pleased with how he turned out!

    The Master of Fear!

Here's my version of Sinestro in his Sinestro Corps uniform!

It took me awhile to figure out the right combination of shirt layers to make it look as close as possible to the design seen in the comics. A small amount of variation was acceptable to me, given how different the GL Corps uniforms are in the cartoons, when compared to the comic book versions.
