Looks more like a test shot, not an actual prototype.
The 4H never let the original casts slide out of the studio.

Weird. That's a lot of money for a test shot.

Prototype ... testshot ... what's the difference, right?

That King Grayskull was 99.9999999999999% chance just a testshot.

Yeah, especially if you look at that Gorilla Grood, that's definitely a test shot.
It's unfair to call them prototype and saying they are unique pieces (most likely there are lots of them)

It would have been nice to have the pin-together power sword! I wonder if the buyer new the difference between a test shot and prototype (other than the fact that it is basically in a finished state, save the paint). I wouldn't know myself . So maybe the buyer thought he was getting a proto?

Is a test shot figure basically made from the final molds?

Prototype = usually a unique sculpture made of resin. The work of an artisan sculptor. The first step

Test shot = after the approval of the prototype the moulds are created and the first small industrial production run is made to see the result. Usually any kind of colored plastics is used, not exactly the one specified. The second step

    He looks great...
my only nitpick/concern are the wings... I imagine that- since they only seem to be held on at the wrist- that over time they are going to succumb to gravity and sort of "float" away and droop off the shoulders and not quite stay up as they should.
Other than that though, I'm getting excited to have this one at home and out of the package!

I didnīt get the Skeletor, must have missed the auction
I paid U$ 60,-- for him including shipping to Austria.

The wings arenīt removable at the proto, I think they are glued on (donīt want to pull too hard).
    Also the backpack isnīt removable.

    Bye

    Michael

P.S. anyone got pics of the Skeletor Proto ?

makes sense, since they originally weren't supposed to be removable - Mattel changed that due to fan demand they said...

yepp, the links were on these boards when we were discussing the test shots of Skeletor and Stratos. the pic is linked from ebay, so save it to keep it - it won't remain available:

    MOTUC Skeletor Test Shot Pics!

Hi everyone! I found some pics I thought fans might like to see, here is a link to a now ended ebay auction! This Skeletor went for $111.00. There is an intresting shot of the back of the figure (without the sword in its plastic slot) that I have not seen before. I am suprised it went this high as the body has a small whole on the lower chest and it did not come with the havoc staff.

Wow, thanks for posting this. He looks so cool. I kind of like him in all-blue.

The head size-to-body size ratio looks really good.

yeah, especially considering that a complete, fully painted and packaged version will be available in six weeks for $90.00 less. Someone really wanted Both He-Man & Skeletor together for Christmas.
